I have to tell you that I am 62 years old and I learn so much from you. I have sewn for many many years but am excited to learn some extra fun things from you. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your talent.
Your video doing the paper piecing was very easy to follow. Great refresher for those of us who might not do paper piecing often. Thank you and plan on making the heart mug rug. ❣
I am an advanced sewer and truly enjoy your tutorials, I am always looking for tips and tricks, your teaching method is top notch you are easy to listen to and precise. Thank you!
This is so AWESOME!!!!! I just made four of them. I have four different Babylock machines and didn't want to move just one around to each machine. What a foot saver, no more dancing under the machine LOL!
Such a useful video! Not just about making a non-slip mat, but bias binding tips as well. Homely advice for non-professional home sewers like me! Thank you.
So glad I saw this! I tried the "rubber bands around the pedal" trick from Pinterest and have tried a zillion different sizes from the bag and a zillion placements, but they always end up shifting and causing my sewing machine to start without my foot on it! Aaargh! That groaning just-about-to-go sound, we all know it! :-) Giving this a try instead TODAY!!! AND making one for my sewing machine that likes to wander across my table. :-)
Great idea. Also, your son will have a useful skill. My mom taught me to sew. It saved me a lot of money while in the Air Force because I could sew my own stripes and patches, hem uniform pants, take in the shirt sides and such.
Great explanation of mitering the bias tape! After 5 years of quilting no-one ever explained this well and I always wondered why it would not match up sometimes. Thanks again Vanessa for an excellent tutorial!!!
Vanessa, thanks I just made this and it turned out great. I really do enjoy your teaching style, I give you an A. Your voice is very pleasant to hear and you show all aspects and the little tips and trips. I have learned so much from you, thank you.
+Laura Jean Rusin Oh! You're right. I wonder if I made a larger rectangle if it would keep my machine from walking across the table!! Sometimes I just want to glue the foot pedal to the floor!
+Karen McGrady My sewing table has a formica top so the serger traveled. I put two two layers of the non skid under it. Now the serger stays in place. I think it needs some bias binding to make the area more inviting.
I have been sewing/quilting for over 40 years, self taught when I was 9 years old, I now have been teaching our grand daughter how to sew. She loves it. Anyway, I just want to say that I love your videos/projects. Even though I have been sewing for an eternity, I still learn new cool stuff from you....thank you
When sewing these mats, I put a couple sheets of computer paper under the mat just to the left edge of the presser foot. The mat will move smoothly as you sew. Be careful not to sew the paper to the fabric. If you do you can pull the paper from the stitching. Great video! From, Nancy P
and to think I almost went out and bought a pad for $17 + shipping!!! This is way cheaper and also so much fund to do because it's so easy and quick. It feels nice to have sewing projects that you can complete quickly and get something functional out of them. Thanks so much for sharing your sewing joy (and ideas)!
I love this idea. I have been looking at sewing machine feet pads. They are expensive. I am getting what I need tomorrow and making it. Thanks so much.
This is a very nice video - easy to follow your directions. I am wondering if you could demonstrate the use for the added strap at the end of the video. Thanks so much.
I love your videos, because I learn a lot, not only the project but also other techniques that serve multiple projects. thank you very much for sharing your knowledge
Thanx Vanessa ! It's a Great Help in d way u show d Tips & Tricks of stitchng that particular product. Am planning to make a few, as gifts. Keep Posting. Bye!.
if I may be so bold to suggest, in minute 9 you are inching you fingers as close as you can to the foot, you can use a Awl, or any other pointed object to keep the fabric in position, maybe even the chopstick or whatever people use to push out pointy corners. Thank You CG for the many enlightening moments you've given us
I've used a chunk of that shelf liner alone to stop the slide for years. MANY years! This is just so much prettier, so I'll have to make a few for use with my many sewing machines! The only machine I won't need it for is my 1889 treadle, which I sometimes use for piecing quilts.
Vanessa, if you love vintage sewing machines, you should come to see us here in Ohio! My husband restores them and we own close to 300. Need to sell a few to make room for others.
Vanessa, you are so EASY to follow! every one of your demonstrations have been so easy to understand and they all "work" perfectly! I have the feeling that you are a good friend that I have know for a long time! THANK YOU! You're the greatest!
What a great idea! I love that you used dollar store non-slip shelf liner to save money. Thanks for the tip on lining up the bias tape for sewing too! Diane in NC
A fun and quick project. I learned to make my own bias tape AND the pad really works. I'm new to sewing and my machine does not have speed control but using the pad it makes controlling the speed easy, faster or SLOW!! Thanks : D
I already use the carpet underlayment which is similar to the shelf liner for my machine pedals. But your idea would make them look so much better and would make a nice gift for my youngest granddaughter who got a sewing machine for Christmas. Great Job!
Thanks for the video. I had previously used one layer of the liner but it didn't do the job. I used left over extra wide double fold bias tape (joined pieces) since no one but me will see it. Using 2 layers of liner really makes a difference. Glad I never spent the money for the commercial foot pedal pads.
I love, love, love, the insight you share in your videos...new sewists neeeeeed that~~! It's so great! you shared about the measurement and connecting strips in this one...you could have easily just flew through the video and left this stuff out ...but you didn't and I'm so grateful! It makes me want to watch more of your videos to find out what other tips and insight you're sharing. Again, thanks so much for sharing :-) You're awesome! Keep up the good work :-) E.
I HAVE to sew barefoot!! I'm always walking around the house in slippers, but I cannot sew with them.. This is the first time I've heard of anyone else mentioning anyone sewing barefoot!! I thought I was the only one! Lol It just feels "right" 🙂 Thanks for sharing, all your tutorials are GREAT ❤
Me too! It’s good to know I’m not alone and that others do this too. I’ve had some funny looks from others like when a visitor or delivery comes and I explain why I’m answering the front door with only one slipper on.
It always amazes me that you come up with such fresh ideas every week! I have slippery laminate floor in sewing room-definitely going to give this a try. Thanks!
Vanessa, thank you! This is so cool and MUCH better than the non-slip I have just laying on the floor. I can see this looking like a flip flop! :) I'll have to figure out how to do it but I'll do it! Thanks!!
Hi Gemini thanks to have this pattern I was struggling my foot padel is moving I'm going to try tell me were can I get the non-slip material I'm from South africa 🇿🇦 Gauteng
Soooooo smart! Chasing my pedal with my foot is a constant - it never occurred to me to sew a non-slip mat our of the dollar store grip mesh (that's what I call it, anyway). I've got some on hand and am going to sew one of these right now. Brilliant idea - thank you sew (har-har) much.
This is a great idea for when I take my machine to a friend's house. My pedal tends to leave marks so I usually put down some craft paper under it so I don't stain their carpet. Thank you for another great tutorial
Omg. love it. my foot petal is brand new and, you know, it still flows to the curve of how I wrapped the power cord and slides every where. thanks so much for this video
Loved this just got myself a sewing machine today I don’t need this now cus I’m working on a desk that has a bottom piece of would that will hold the pedal but if I upgrade the desk I just might love it!! TFS
What a great idea! I recently came across this problem with my new sewing area which has a wooden floor and the foot pedal just gradually slides away from me. This will definitely be my next project, problem solved! Thanks so much for sharing, love your tutorials ☺. Angela x
Thank you for always taking the time to explain in detail little things like how to line up bias strips! I always have uneven bias tape and now I now why!
I didn't need it, but I am so glad you explained 7/8ths for people who might need it. I think your stuff is great!
Leave an opening in the cross piece and you can put the elec plug wire through it and that will also keep the pad in place. Nice idea!
❤
Wonderful clear tutorial ❤
I have seen you on a sewing machine tutorial, but I didn't know you had a channel. I am sorry. I am subscribed now.
Wonderful instructor. Had to subscribe.
I have to tell you that I am 62 years old and I learn so much from you. I have sewn for many many years but am excited to learn some extra fun things from you. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your talent.

This is so AWESOME!!!!! I just made four of them. I have four different Babylock machines and didn't want to move just one around to each machine. What a foot saver, no more dancing under the machine LOL!
+Diana Rose that is perfect! One for each machine is much easier than having to switch between each one :)
Did they work well? Im thinking if making this for my quilt group Christmas gift exchange.
Made 2 of these. 1 for sewing machine. 1 for overlocker. Sew easy to make. Thank you sew much. Great video. Xx
I can finally stop looking for my pedal all the time. And I can do it in style! Thanks Vanessa!
Such a useful video! Not just about making a non-slip mat, but bias binding tips as well. Homely advice for non-professional home sewers like me!
Thank you.

after years working with a roaming foot pedal, I finally made this today It's going to help a lot. Thanks Vanessa!
+Denise Harris I'm so glad you found that to be helpful!
Vanessa, thanks I just made this and it turned out great. I really do enjoy your teaching style, I give you an A. Your voice is very pleasant to hear and you show all aspects and the little tips and trips. I have learned so much from you, thank you.
I need about 10 of these for sewing machine and serger peddles as well as the machines themselves. Great tutorial Vanessa, thank you!
+Laura Jean Rusin Oh! You're right. I wonder if I made a larger rectangle if it would keep my machine from walking across the table!! Sometimes I just want to glue the foot pedal to the floor!

I finally made two!! ( Saw this tutorial years ago... I made 1 smaller one...they work brilliantly, thanks Vanessa!
This is great! I have wood flooring where I sew, so this will be nice to use, and your directions are so clear & concise. Thank you!
Thanks so much for this tutorial. I have been watching your tutorials for a long time.
Wonderful solution! You are a great teacher. I look forward to seeing more from you. This is my first utube I’ve seen from you!!

So very talented for a young lady . Well done. Nice videos.
Hello, this is a fab Idea! 😁 I sit at my high kitchen table & my pedal is on a foot stool 😋 & always falls off the stool 💕 Erica x
I love this idea. I have been looking at sewing machine feet pads. They are expensive. I am getting what I need tomorrow and making it. Thanks so much.
Wow, wish I knew this trick sooner, always chasing the foot underneath my table so now i am off to sew one, thank you Vanessa !!! xxx
+Tina Wemyss now you can fix that problem!! :)
I sewed mine and Vanessa, it is so good, so thank you girl, love you! xxx
+Tina Wemys
I love your studio. It's so pretty, orderly and functional! This is a fantastic project.
Always love your tutorials, I can use this for sure. So tired of chasing my pedal.

Thanks Vanessa!!!!! I was just getting ready to buy those ready made expensive pads for 5 sewing machines, now I can make these!.....
Vanessa, you are so EASY to follow! every one of your demonstrations have been so easy to understand and they all "work" perfectly! I have the feeling that you are a good friend that I have know for a long time! THANK YOU! You're the greatest!
You are so talented. I created my non-slip pad. It's not as nice as yours, but it is working great. Thank you!
What a great idea! I love that you used dollar store non-slip shelf liner to save money. Thanks for the tip on lining up the bias tape for sewing too! Diane in NC

What a wonderful idea - very handy. Love the way that you explain everything clearly. Thank you so much.
I already use the carpet underlayment which is similar to the shelf liner for my machine pedals. But your idea would make them look so much better and would make a nice gift for my youngest granddaughter who got a sewing machine for Christmas. Great Job!
+A Leslie How awesome that she got a machine and you can now share this wonderful hobby!

Thanks for sharing, all your tutorials are GREAT ❤
I too sew barefoot. I don't like having shoes/slippers, cant feel the pedal properly
Me too! It’s good to know I’m not alone and that others do this too. I’ve had some funny looks from others like when a visitor or delivery comes and I explain why I’m answering the front door with only one slipper on.
I do it too!
I’m always barefoot! Have to feel the grip on that pedal.
I am the same, I love to feel the pedal 🙂
You are awesome ... this tutorial is EXCELLENT! Thank you!
It always amazes me that you come up with such fresh ideas every week! I have slippery laminate floor in sewing room-definitely going to give this a try. Thanks!
Thank you for that 7/8 inch tip. A lot of people don't explain that to you.
+Carolyn Smith you are so welcome! I love to make it as easy as possible!
Thank you for all your tips!!! You are truly a great teacher. Thanks again☺️
This is fabulous! I was just grumbling last week about constantly chasing my foot peddle around. It's like chasing a toddler around. Ha!
very nice & awesome tool piping maker
I just love this, totally new to sewing but watching Vanessa makes it so easy. Thanks.
Vanessa, thank you! This is so cool and MUCH better than the non-slip I have just laying on the floor. I can see this looking like a flip flop! :) I'll have to figure out how to do it but I'll do it! Thanks!!
Love looking at your videos you explain things really well. thankyou
I love this! It works great and it was super easy to make! 🥰

Do you have a video doing a cassrole carrier ? Love how you do these things
Totally loved this video! I just made one today , works great!♥️
works great made one last night pedal didnt move at all thxs so much
Oh my god this is actually amazing. My studio floor is linoleum and it goes everywhere.
This is a great idea for when I take my machine to a friend's house. My pedal tends to leave marks so I usually put down some craft paper under it so I don't stain their carpet. Thank you for another great tutorial
Omg. love it. my foot petal is brand new and, you know, it still flows to the curve of how I wrapped the power cord and slides every where. thanks so much for this video
send us a video while sewing with foot action!
Super nice idea just changed my machine and new pedal is so light compare to the old one it shoot across the floor
I make bias tape, I really need to get that bias tape maker. And I need those clips !! You are so full of great Ideas !!!
You are a great teacher.
I've had a similar project on my list of "to-do's" for over a year, but THIS one is the best I've seen! Can't wait to make this one soon!!
+Trisha @ Three Owl Threads LLC We'd love to see a photo on the Crafty Gemini Creates Facebook page when you do! :)
Hi - great idea -- seems I need one now, ha -- thanks a bunch - praying you and yours are well
Love it. Could you tell me about the iron rest you have?
You are a great instructor!! Thank you for your talent!
De este proyecto, lo que más me gusta es: lo sencillo que haces el biés o sesgo, te veo casi a diario, gracias
Wow!! Great project and well-done instructions. Thanks!
If you have trouble making the bias lay smoothly around the corners, preshaping with the iron (before applying to the item) helps a lot.
+mouseboots46 such a great tip!
I cannot wait to make one of these for my foot pedal. Thank you for the tutorial
Loved this just got myself a sewing machine today I don’t need this now cus I’m working on a desk that has a bottom piece of would that will hold the pedal but if I upgrade the desk I just might love it!! TFS
Love your videos. I have all the supplies so I am going to make one, thanks for the tip.
Very cute! I am going to make a few for my machines tonight!
You are amazing,I was looking for something to keep my petal in place.Thans.
will do this today for all 3 slippery pedals
+carylanne rosten That sounds like a day well spent!! We'd love to see photos on the Crafty Gemini Creates Facebook page once you are all done. :)
I love all your tutorials.
This was my first finished sewing project last year! :D
What a great idea! I recently came across this problem with my new sewing area which has a wooden floor and the foot pedal just gradually slides away from me. This will definitely be my next project, problem solved! Thanks so much for sharing, love your tutorials ☺. Angela x
+Angela Banks This will change the way you sew for life! :)
Do you have any tutorials on sewing PVC/Vinyl without sticking to the pressure foot or feed dog ?
neat idea! I need 2 and I can see me making a few more for pals
+Diane Kaull They will love them!
we all have the same problem!
This is a great project! And thanks for the bias tape tips! This will work when joining pieces of quilt binding!
I love this idea. I have just been stuff on the floor. This so much nicer. Great for taking to sewing classes with the linoleum. Thanks.
I've designated a rubber jar lid opener to keep my pedal from sliding, but this looks infinitely nicer lol.
if trouble with sewing on rubbery mat use teflon foot or put regular clear tape on foot to help it slide better. make sure it has room for hole.
Great video! what is your favorite cordless iron, looking to buy a new one, thank you
Thanks. My foot peddle is AL WAYS moving. Great idea.
Awesome tutorial! What is the gadget you're using at 6:16!? What a time saver!!
slick and easy and most of all functional
Thank you for always taking the time to explain in detail little things like how to line up bias strips! I always have uneven bias tape and now I now why!
+Jennifer Farsh me too! I was wondering why my strips were uneven. Glad to know it's not just me! LOL :)
+Jennifer Farsh you are so welcome! I love to make it as easy as possible ;)
Great idea, I need one for each machine! Great tutorial, thank you!
Love the video just made a pad for my foot control
