I have been trying my best to get the perfect ending where Shepherd still lives just so Tali would have her love back.
I do that because of that raw emotion and how upset, scared, shock, and countless other emotions words cannot describe that she was going through.
She finally found love with someone who loved her unconditionally just as she did him, only knowing he would not make it back to her alive.
That is a cruel fate Bioware gave to the player and Tali.
Tali was the only one who was the purest of all the romantic options with her feelings and actions.
There is a mod that gives the perfect ending that bypass the horrible three endings and does away with the star child and goes right for the destroy ending.
It's worth looking into and watching it if you can find it.

If you pay attention to the Shadow Broker file on Tali, she watched Fleet and Flotilla a lot on the Normandy SR-2 during the suicide mission.
If you pay attention to the scene Tali and Shepard watch Fleet and Flotilla in Shep's apartment, the dialogue between Sheelai and Bellicus is word for word the same as Tali and Shepard's romance dialogue in Mass Effect 2. Tali used lines from her favorite movie to seduce Shepard and he, despite having never seen Fleet and Flotilla, quoted the response lines back at her- which explains Tali's shock that male Shepard never watched the movie.

I'm one of those weirdos who doesn't mind that fact that Tali 'looks' like the original photo, even as I am perfectly ok saying the photoshop pic we got was garbage. The LE photo was nice, but it didn't show us anything about Tali's appearance that we couldn't guess was under the face mask, and didn't even remove the hood. All it did was remove the smoke behind her visor.

    • @HH-hd7nd
      @HH-hd7nd 3 месяца назад +1

@predatoryzzx I know why people keep saying that but I have to disagree - it was not an improvement. In my opinion it was actually a huge downgrade.
The reason why the original picture sparked such a controversy back in the day was never about the picture itself.
It was all about Bioware using a stock photo instead of one taken specifically for ME3. And that reasoning makes no sense to me - I don't care if it was a stock photo or not. And the devs definetly didn't do Tali dirty with the picture they chose - Hammasa Kohistani is a very beautiful woman.
Given the reason for most of the protests I wonder what would have happened if Bioware had simply hired Kohistani to take another picture for the game and then used that. If people would've stopped protesting because it wouldn't have been a stock photo anymore...that would have been really dumb.

I'm still very hopeful and romantic, despite the world doing all that to me and a bit more for good measure. I guess it's because I'm so much of a pessimist that when shit hits the fan I can still see a light to reach for, because that wasn't in my bleak predictions. This allows me to always be hopeful and optimistic, no matter how pitch black the situation is. And I seem to have a subscription on pitch black situations, like experiencing war, death, political warfare, psychological bullying, mental disorders, fatherhood, bureaucracy and so forth.

    • @SchulzEricT
      @SchulzEricT 4 месяца назад

I really like Ashley, I think she's a great character; like Miranda, she has layers that are so rewarding to peel back.
I really really really wish ME LE would've built on ME and made it better, rather than simply breaking combat in ME1. If, instead of making ME1's combat worse, they'd've focused their efforts on improving some things, I think they could've made a game that even people who still had original edition ME would've gone out and bought.
There are several elements I'd've loved to have seen addressed, but the big one that's relevant to this video/your comment: I hate how partitioned off your romance is between 1, 2, and 3. If you romance Ashley or Kaiden, you don't see them at all in 2 except for one very short, strangely hostile, meeting. Then, you're reunited in 3... for about 15 minutes, then they spend the rest of the game in the hospital.
OR if you romance anybody in ME2, you don't see them again in ME3; no Miranda (the best romance), nor Jack... not Thane, whom I guess some people romance? (I don't get it, but whatever.) Or Jacob, whom I assume nobody romances, but still.
They *really* should've added some content, say in ME2 you reach out to Ashley/Kaiden if you romanced them (or Liara?), but they don't respond. But then when you meet Ash/Kaiden, they say something like "I got your email, I couldn't believe it was you... I didn't respond because I couldn't be sure but also security protocols forbid it..." and then have a meeting that's much more "wary" than "hostile". Have them say something like "how can you work for Cerberus" and you of course respond "I'm not, I'm just using their resources; I'm using them in pursuit of my goals, and once I'm done using them I'm not returning their ship, their AI, their people..." something like that. And Ash/Kaiden can say maybe still be wary "I'm not sure I'd even trust them that far; how can you know *they* aren't using *you*?"
So, you know... not exactly a satisfying reunion, but much less annoying than it was in OE ME.
Then maybe have some interaction after that? I assume Ash/Kaiden isn't in ME2 because it's a "suicide mission", but holy fuck it's SO EASY to save everybody (outside of the bullshit bug that makes it so damn hard to resolve the Miranda/Jack conflict, that's some bullshit); they couldn't have had *some* sort of interaction outside of... whatever that place was called?
AND THEN... I'm sure it would've been a ton of work, but you go from 6 squadmates in ME1 to 12 in ME2... then back to 6 in ME3?!? Miranda and Jack should've been squadmates in ME3, it's insane that they aren't. I love Miranda, pretty easily my favorite romance in the ME trilogy, so I'm pretty biased here, but it's wild that she's on the run from Cerberus and not, you know... with you. As soon as you meet, she should just join your squad: you're actively fighting Cerberus - more than the Reapers! (another thing I'd've loved to have seen fixed in ME3 LE, although I get that that would've required essentially re-making the entire game from the ground up) - so how is "by my side" not the safest place for her to be? And Jack working at Grissom Academy... I mean, that maybe makes sense for her *eventually*, but 6 months after ME2? No goddamn way she goes from who she is in ME2 to suddenly being a nurturing, patient teacher in ME3. She needs way more time to get over her own trauma; maybe have her at Grissom Academy, not as a teacher but just being around fellow Biotics, maybe even talking to somebody there... and then when you show up, she joins you.
Whenever I play through the ME trilogy, I always hit a wall with ME3... there's some good stuff there, ME3 does some things better than ME1 and ME2 (the segmented health bars is inspired, the way weapon weight works is great, I like that better than ME1 or ME2's approach to weapons - they're all good in their own way, but I think ME3's is best) but your squad is so crazy small. (And again, spending so much time fighting Cerberus is so dumb to me. Especially since I didn't give them the Reaper base at the end of ME2; if they got it, then I could see why they'd be so formidable. But... they didn't.)

Ashley was elated Shepard was alive. She only had a change of mood when she found out Shepard was seemingly working with an evil group of madmen.
Imagine you fell in love with someone while both of you worked for a group dedicated to freedom and human progress, shared every intimate detail about yourself, and then they seemingly died.
Then, two years later, from out of nowhere and with no notice, they showed back up. Only now, they were working with the Nazis.
That's what Ashley experienced. Her reaction was understandable and the game tied our hands with how we could react.

She was always genuine, kind to all races, except for the Geth, but was still able to be honest about how wrong she was about that, clearly not as single-minded and rigid like the other quarians in their council... so i don't keep rambling on, basically, she's a very empathic and level-headed person, which are the people I usually admire and like being around. Just found this video. I am a Tali guy, all the way through. I even find it hard to do other romances. No matter what I set myself up to do, I always end up with Tali.
Her purity and innocence in a dark world is probably what draws me. Her romantic approach, even if things seem grim. Her honesty, and her lines. "I watched you for so long, and I never thought you'd see past... this..."
I've always said that your Mass Effect romance kinda defines you, in a way:
-Tali is the hopeless romantic who stays with you to the end.
-Liara is the best friend who goes beyond that title.
-Miranda is the attractive bossy woman with a tough past.
-Ashley is the tough lady with a soft core.
-Garrus is the bad boy with a tormented soul.
-Thane is the spiritual man with some regrets.
-Jack is the "I can fix her" girl who needs you.
Cannot define James, Cortez, Kaidan, Traynor or Samara yet.

TO be fair! By the end of the romanctic arc with Tali, she tells Shepard that her body has grown used to being around him. I.E. she no longer has any negative effects outside of the suit with him. It's just before they launch their final assault against Cerberus. Tali in my opinion, is the most fulfilling of all the romantic choices. Out of all the choices, you can feel how deeply she cares for him. I especially love the scene in ME2 when Chambers says "I have the feeling she wants to be more than just good friends...."
    "What makes you say that?"
"It's in her body language, how she turns to you when you enter a room..and how she watches your every move"
Also I'm not sure if you're aware of this. But there is an ending to the game, where Shepard can survive the ignition of the Catalyst. It still costs the survival of the Geth, but Shepard could have in theory returned to Tali. I'd like to think he does.

They were literally telling you to immerse yourself as a veteran soldier who can put aside their personal feelings for moments like these. Which I imagine real soldier can do due to their training hence why the devs decided to do this scene like this. It's really immersive and gets you to understand how real soldiers minds work and process loss but we aren't real soldiers and thus can't do this in real life let alone simulate it in a game.

I still feel like Liara is my canon romance, but of all the other romance options, I think Tali is the only one who "resonates" with Shepard. When he walks in, she is focused on him, and her romantic love for him pulls out a side of his character that a Liara/Ashley/Miranda romance doesn't. The Jack romance arc also feels unique, but I'll wait for your reaction to that.

Not to mention that this whole shit is only even a question because of how stupidly the Geth were rewritten in ME3, but that's another story.
Secondly: How does "no Mass Effect game with Shepard" translate to "Shepard is DEFINITELY dead"?! We only had ONE game, and won't get another one for at least a few years. If we ever get another one at all, that is.
And even if it doesn't feature Shepard... why does that suddenly mean they're dead? There's ZERO logic in this. Shepard's story is DONE. I severely HOPE they won't bring them back as the protagonist again, because they deserve some freaking peace and quiet for once.

I don't know if you cut this out or if it wasn't in the video - but there are actually a few lines from Kelly that are also a part of the romance (and most other romances as well). Mordin of course also makes a comment in ME2 (with slight variants for the different romance options - the funniest line from Mordin is probably FemShep/Garrus).
22:38 This picture sparked a bit of a controversy back in the day (a sentiment I don't really agree with - I think it is a beautiful picture).
The problem was that this is actually a stock photo, not one made specifically for the game. The other characters are modelled after people who where specifically hired for that purpose, but with Tali Bioware simply took a stock photo of British model Hammasa Kohistani (Miss England 2005), modified it slightly and used it as Tali's face. Many fans were angered by that because they felt Tali was somehow let down by not hiring an actress or model for a face scan even though Kohistani is a very beautiful woman and Tali was definetly not let down in that regard.
Personally I think the people where overreacting - I always liked the picture despite its origin as a stock photo. In the legendary edition Bioware replaced the picture with a new one. Many people liked that, personally I liked the old photo way more.

I don't really like this compilation of the Tali romance. It cuts out nearly half of the scenes and omits a lot of important character context by extension.
Some of Tali's dialogue on the paragon options during her loyalty mission in ME2 gives a lot of context to her character. Also, her saying "I have a home" hits even harder when you realize it connects to their dialogue in the Rannoch mission in ME3. One of the scenes was depicted in this comp, where she was discussing the best translation of "Keelah Se'Lai" as being "by the homeworld I hope to see someday". Just before fighting the reaper, Tali says "I love you" while Shepard says, "Keelah Se'Lai". In a sense, this common Quarian saying is subverted into a connotation meaning "I love you", but one that is acknowledging of Tali's personal character and her wants.
In the final mission on Earth, they say this again to each other when reflecting upon what happened at Rannoch, instead Shepard being the one to say "I love you" and Tali says "Keelah Se'Lai". Understanding how "Keelah Se'Lai" in common usage refers to a 'Home' but between them is meant to be a way of saying 'I love you', was both of them already saying "YOU are my home", and then she finally says it straight up at the end, "I have a home", which itself cements Tali's character arc of her realizing what 'home' really was to her.

I hate the photo by his bed part, since it's just a stock photo bioware took from online and doctored up a little. I was expecting something less human looking, but even if that wasn't the case, they should have done her face revel on Rannoch when she takes her helmet piece off. and you can see her face and hear her speak her final line to you. That would have been leagues better.
As for endings, they all suck a little yes, and I'd prefer they did the ending differently. With that said, I REFUSE the red ending. Both because people think Shepard can survive an entire space station crashing to Earth for some stupid reason, as well as it killing all the geth and EDI. I refused to kill them, and I never will. the middle one wasn't much better to me because that was me making a choice that was forced onto the entire galaxy without their consent. Blue ending has potential dangers as well, but at that moment I'm the only one paying the price for the hopes that everyone else can forge forward. I hate that Shepard had to die to make it happen, but it's the least cost I could give to help as many others. Not always my way of thinking, but I just couldn't accept the other choices.
Side note: You're reading too much into Liara, bear an open mind. People are similar and unique at the same time.

I hope you react to the Garrus romance, either your own play through or watching another. it's SO good. There are moments Jennifer Hale got so emotional she had a hard time staying in character, and you can hear the tremble in her voice.

I plan to do a Garrus, Miranda, Thane & Samara reaction! I've really enjoyed diving deeper into the ME romances 💚

Shepherd really is a one of a kind protagonist. Honestly it's really scary to think of the burden that's on his/her shoulders. In one hand you really want to be Shepherd, on the other hand it's really overwhelming.
That's why everyone can relate to the character, because everyone is allowed to be their own Shepherd.
I believe that's why there is not one perfect ending, otherwise everyone would just pick that one.
In the end your journey gives you your own perspective on what your ending should be, that's why there is no right or wrong decision.
There are not a lot of games that does that.😊

As I am watching this and typing at the same time. Be nice if you could fit in a mass effect 3, traynor romance reaction sometime in the future. I played it once as femshep purely to romance her. Well a guy has to do what a guy has to do to get the girl of his dreams 😊

I never romanced Tali on any of my playthroughs. Not because I don’t love her, but she just seems so young for me, like a much younger sister or a niece. Someone who I love definitely but not in a romantic way.
Still, this is one of the greatest romances in the trilogy, even if I saw in on RUclips only. And her song gives me chills

I brought this up in my comment. It comes down to how comfortable one is with the seven year age gap, I think. For me personally, the writing is good enough to make it work. One other thing: Jack is the same age as Tali.

@@BruceRKF yeah, maybe, but Jack lived through much worse things than Tali and she seems older because of it, I suppose. Anyway this is more a matter of feeling than actual figures.
As for the age gap, I have to add my own 10-12 years over Shep as well))

@@antonchertov5424 It was just to illustrate that age alone is not the all-conclusive marker, experience and maturity play a big role. I think it's good that Tali was not a romance option in ME1, but she matures plenty in 2 and 3.

I feel that’s the case in the first game as Shepard is 29 and Tali 22 but she did seem to have grown for 2 years (probably because of her biology) and Shepard was still technically 29 in 2 as you don’t grow older when you’re dead
