Check out "The Breakdown". Type in "how to host forge server 1.20.1" he explains it all pretty thoroughly. His channel is how I learned most behind the scenes minecraft stuff. This guy however saved me because The Breakdown didnt have anything specific to curseforge. (The Breakdown does it the "old" way, where he tells you to download the forge client and download mods manually, but you can use curseforge on the client side to join. What I normally do is export the modpack profile and dropbox it to myself on my server PC, download the modpack, then copy & paste the mods into the server mods folder. I hope this helps if you haven't yet figured it out.
The tutorial is great and works, but I tried it on the crazy craft updated modpack on Curseforge and can’t find any of the files that I need to make the server.
i know its 4months but for me the fix was i needed to check which version of java i had so open op terminal and then enter java -version if it doesn't say foe exmaple the all of the mods 9 i needed java 17 n if u didnt have java 17 but like 22 then u had to uninstal that n reinstall 17
so i will say to the others, the only issue i had was in the very beginning. i tried to run the server batch and it said i needed to install java 17 first. so i had to go do that. but once i did and then ran server batch, it ran just like the guys video. the eula and server properties files show up once you have ran the server once. hope this helps some
If you click in the folder "Read Me" you will find everything you need to solve your problem. I had the same problem as you and I followed every step in that file and I managed to make it work. Hope I helped!

I desperately ask you for some help troubleshooting. I've got the server all modded and set up, but for some reason only I can join it. I've set up a port (my router is xfinity) and a static ipv4, but still no cigar. If you know anything at all I would appreciate it.
Glad to hear this was helpful, First thing ill ask about the server is if you have gone to canyouseeme.org to make sure the port itself is actually open. You will need to check that site when the server is running otherwise it will say closed.

I did soe some yeara, ago using forge ad spongeforge. But nowadays sadly just very few devs are still releasing Sponge plugins. and it's even much worse: There are issues with missing features, plugins and mods and/or content *everywhere* . Like for example very poplular mods like thermalDyamics only existing for 1.19.2. But spongeforge only existing for 1.19.4. The only real way to have a fully featured minecraft server seesm to rely on stone old 1.12.2. And as there seemingly is no decent alternative, it's like all the devs where trying to actively prevent people from having a nice minecraft experience in 2024 :(

This is likely due to your computer not being able to handle the load the modpack is putting on it, ie your probably computer isn't fast enough or have enough memory dedicated to the server.
I have made a modpack successfully and could run it but when my friends try to join using my ip they cant. I've tried both my public and pc ip but none of them work. Can anyone help?

Open the start as a text file first. In it there's a link that will show you how to enable powershell to not crash when running the start file. Make sure you also have Java 18 installed. Also for later down the road, the ram adjustment is hidden in the variables text file not the users_jvm file for prominence 2. Hope this helps!

It probably means you didn’t port forward correctly, it’s the most challenging part, try going to “can you see me” and type in you’re public up and see if it shows an open port. *note the server has to be running before you check for open ports

@@shadorian9797 Yea i tried that before. But some mods have other files needed. And when I do the converting mods part. The server just crashes.

When I put my public address in along with :25565, I press done, and then it says "cannot connect to server". How do I fix this?

Yes, everyone needs the exact same mods and forge version in order to play in a modded server.
