    So happy that Jack has a chance to continue after tennis. Hopefully this lets him avoid injuries and play longer. The trophy seemed strangely small though, especially with them sharing one

      @gilbertamthor5098 or that tennis translates very well to pickleball. i think the transition is similar to indoor volleyball to outdoor volleyball. i'm pretty sure almost all pro pickleball players got their start in high level tennis.

      Unfortunately with pro athlete tennis players entering pickleball tournaments, it reveals the caliber of play that has been, will not compare to what will be. Tennis mixed doubles is already an immense challenge for the women. I worry that the pickleball restrictions won't be enough to allow both sexes to play together as they used to. We already see this in mens pickleball doubles where the forehand dominant player will take

      A lot of tennis players don't like pickleballers, because they've taken over a ton of tennis courts and made it harder to find open ones to play on. I've definitely experienced this, although more pickleball courts are being built, so that shouldn't be as much of an issue going forward depending on where you live. But that is a huge source of contention currently. Maybe don't jump to incredibly inflammatory statements like the same people who don't like pickleball are the same ones who didn't like gays in highschool. Ridiculous.

    If you think this is going to ever compete with tennis then I have some beautiful ocean front property to sell you in Kansas.
    This is basically ping pong with more territory, a bigger ball and bigger rackets.
    There’s a reason that isn’t competing with tennis for ratings either

    • @dustierbottoms

      Compete with tennis in what way? Just people watching it? Crowds and ratings? It’s far from supplanting tennis in ratings, but there’s a reason why it’s the fastest growing sport in the US. Former pro athletes like drew Brees, gronk are all investing and promoting this sport. Tennis courts are bare while PB courts are now packed with huge lines waiting to play. I recently went to an indoor racquet club for PB and it was beyond packed, way more packed than I’ve ever seen for indoor tennis. I grew up playing tennis so I get why tennis players look down on this sport. But it’s hella fun and easy to play, especially for tennis players that just can’t take the grind anymore.

    • @eaglewinnings8003
      @eaglewinnings8003 Год назад

      @@dustierbottoms you know what the most common thing between all the examples of former athletes you said that play the sport now is? They’re worth hundreds of millions and retired.
      There’s a lot sports people play for fun that aren’t on TV and are a lot more fun to play than they are to watch therefore it will be decades if ever before they get a TV at all let alone a TV deal worth so much where athletes can play for a living.
      Ever heard of spike ball! Much more fun to watch, much more age friendly for any age and more fun to watch. They’re nowhere near a TV deal or being anything more than fun at a beach.
      I know Jack Sock got some sort of deal but how much of that’s for meet and greets and appearances and how much of that is for more people who’ve never even heard of is.

    • @dustierbottoms
      @dustierbottoms Год назад

      @@eaglewinnings8003 true…I agree with what you said. And I also think people watch sports to see amazing athleticism and witness feats that are near impossible to the average person. That said, it’s not pickleball. When I watch pro PB, I’m not wowed by anything that happens. I doubt ratings and viewership will ever surpass tennis, but for recreational play, I believe it already has.
