Not Korean-pop, these girls are all Japanese or Japanese mix. They describe themselves as a global R&B/Hip-hop group, probably because all their official releases are in English.
They promote in SK mostly
They're listed as a Japanese K pop group, w/ Global aspirations, and it's working LOL, I'm here for it... Could care less if it's K pop, J pop... hell, it's SLAY POP, yall, yesssssss~

I'm guessing the listing you saw was from some other origin, not them.
Calling them Japanese Korean-pop doesn't make sense because they sound like western or specifically American pop and sing in English, which is why they purposely put global in their bio and not K-pop. The head of their label also made the distinction (and controversy!).
The joke I like to make is Not K-pop and not J-pop, but X-pop, Extraordinary-pop!

there's no comparison between BP and XG, love Lisa as well but to be honest and objective about it, XG has quality in their music, I'm not talking about the visuals and choreos, both are equally amazing, besides each member of both groups is super talented, but the thing with BP is their Agency, their company keep them under the same type of music since their debut, just popular music with no sustance at all, the same sound everytime just for the rating and numbers. BP deserves better, wasted talent, it's a shame.

Yes! This is what ive felt about BP since Kill this Love and its been like on repeat for these last years. This track blew me out of the water since it felt like a throwback but with freshness and substance that sticks to your mind and literally reignites that 90's vibe that's been put away for so long.

Honest question, do you bother writing to Spotify & Apple Music to remove them from the K-pop genre playlists? Or commenting under Idol League videos when they themselves call XG a K-Pop group? Or calling out Dayoung from WJSN host of Idol League calling them a K-pop group too? Can we please stop correcting every reactor that makes this statement? Is it that big of a deal that they are labeled K-pop by some and not by others? It doesn't matter. It isn't offending anyone. It's just good music. Can every top comment stop being "It's not K-pop." Yes they themselves have had to distance the group from K-pop, but that is only in response to the backlash they received in Korea. Let the music speak for itself. Give up the need to correct everyone.

Yea man I feel you. As a musician and producer as well, I feel like American pop just does not hit these days. There are some good songs here and there but I have been getting more into Kpop and Japanese artists lately, even some Korean rock bands too. Love XG, NewJeans, Twice, BTS, all of those groups are killin it
