@@Rambley_stole_ur_dingleberrys portuguese version Brazil
A fact the Brazil part where she said Dona Iara is the reference of the Brazilian urban legend for those that don't know Iara is the Brazilian goddess of waters, associated with the moon, fertility, and feminine beauty but in a Mearmeid form in a middle os the Rivers the man who hears her beautiful voice gets hipnotized and follows her too the deepest part of the Rivers and never comes back wich they dies drowning as they was in the deep of the river she is also know as Woman of the River.
Also, most of the bosses in the game have their names adapted in Portuguese to reference old cartoon characters, that in Brazil usually had different names associated to brazilian culture. Bugs Bunny, for example, is known in Brazil as "Pernalonga" (Something like "Long-leg")
So basically a siren
It's because cala In Portuguese it means Shut up, and I would be shut up Maria in other languages
Thanks for the references hermano.

Ur voice is perfect ❤️
Wow 💫 here you and your precious voice again
Abla gercekten sesin harika hayran kaldim
It was shit
What I love is how while all these talented women are singing the same song, they all give it a unique spin. From the Turkish singer going low and menacing during the reflection pool bit, the German singer dipping into operatics and how during the 'number one sea beast' bit the Italian lady chose to sound unhinged. It truly makes it worth it to hear them all.
favorite comment. I was thinking about it more, and I thought of a few others:
- In the Portuguese version at 4:02 the voice actress puts extra emotion in the line about loneliness, emphasizing the slight regret at what she had to give up to embrace the life of a monster. Adding onto this is dub's word choice - it tacitly frames her staying the course as being *because* of her success as a monster, not the other way around.
- at 9:38 in the Japanese dub, the voice actress lowers her voice to make it sound particularly innocent, right before she roars about wanting to be the fiercest monster, aligning with the jarring contrast between Cala Maria's human like emotions and her monstrous intents.
my god, italian got the message right, cala maria is the absolute soprano. i kinda cringed at my own language here and there (greece speaks 🇬🇷) but cala maria wasn't bad either. furthermore in all these languages oh wow, here i thought i had started getting bored to hear the song. no, each language made it very interesting in its own way no matter how complicated they sounded
So i guess that makes 2 of us
I usually cringe watching greek dubs but i think the singer for the greek version was really good
I cringed and my language too which is English but I am also a bit Japanese and I think the Japanese sounds great
Κι εγώ... πολύ cringe
Well that's because calamaria is actually Italian that's why her accent is italian
Grazie frate [ thx bro ]
My favorites gotta be German and Italian, the vocals were very well done and fit Cala Maria so well. I would add Japanese too but I don't really count it in there as it is my own language (and I don't wanna sound too biased), even if it is well-sung and the voice fit her well like the German and Italian versions.
It seems like they're back together again
@@KaiserIschl poor japan, out of the team 😔
@@KaiserIschl I didn't even notice-
As an italian (so that means i'm impartial) i can say yes, the japanise version Is very well done
Plus if you counted Japan, it could have ended badly. We all know what happens Germany, Japan and Italy are together.
Funfact: the background music is from Habanera, a song from the French Opera called Carmen. So the way the notes are structured benefit french, german, and italian which is why they flow well. However, if you listen to the Japanese, it flows just as well cus it sounds like enka music (japanese “pop” meant to resemble traditional songs)
that's why the song sounded so familiar
Italy had her on the spot, like they were basically like, "alright, you want a song that captures the villian's menacing, & cruel personality? Well, YOU GOT IT!!!"
I am Brazilian and I will tell you a detail of the Brazilian version: here, Cala Maria was named Dona Iara, because Iara is a legend of Brazilian folklore who is a series that enchants sailors with her song, making them fall in love with her. She takes them to the deepest of the seas to take their lives.

An interesting thing about the Brazilian dub, they've put her name to be "Dona Iara" because of the folklore. There's a whole story behind the myth, but in a very simple way of saying it is that Iara is some sort of mermaid with charming voice, and is known to seduce men who are on the banks of rivers, taking them underwater to drown them, it's kinda similar to what Cala Maria is in this part of her story.
Honestly, I'm so surprised how much I love the German version
If Hitler was alive today, he would use her as a super weapon for the sea
in Brazilian Portuguese I loved the translation "dona iara" which is a series of Brazilian folklore and part of the culture of the indigenous people of Brazil.

Yes! German voice acting is actually quite know to even change lyrics so its still a nive sounding song but also fitting to the mouth movements in the film!
That beeing said! Its also quite often changes the lyrics!
The way they said that she sees it as a ''part of her'' instead of her choice def changes the message alot, more in the direction of her having ''no'' choice as peps would see her as a monster anyway wich is why she is lonely and miserable, instead of her chosing to be like that.
I also especially noticed that in Disney encanto! I LOVE the lyrics of surface pressure in german like the wording and message is so much better (in my opinion).

The Italian is reasonably similar to the original and quite nice despite not having a discernible accent (Greek or otherwise), however the meaning changes a bit.
Whereas in the original it's clear (in my opinion) that Calamaria has always wanted to be feared ("all my life what I wanted to be - the fiercest monster in the deep blue sea!") , in the Italian version it sounds more like she wanted to be respected and famous, and since the only way to do that was to be feared she settled for that kind of fame.
Also, she says "è una triste vita ma è la mia vita, la sola che va bene a me", translated "it's a sad life but it's my life, the only one that's suitable for me", which further gives the impression she's unhappy about her life. Instead, in the original she's saying "I have to make sacrifices, but I enjoy where I am"

Bin so weit gekomm.
Endlich angekomm.
Und jeder hier kennt mich.
Ja!
Ich bin ein Monster des Meeres.
Ich bin die Carla Maria.
Also die deutschen habn mal wieder alles alleine übersetzt. Nichts stimmt mit dem Englischen überein.
So the germans did their own version.
Ich lieb das eigentlich, würden sie es wort wörtlich übersetzten würde das lied nicht so hamonisch klingen (reime und so), darüber hinaus achten die deutschen sehr darauf das die stimme auch zu den lippen des characters passt! ( lip syncing)
