this is basically smb1 and smb3 with the grass patches from smb2. if i had to choose between the original nes trilogy and the allstars versions it would be the nes games all the time. putting out allstars and the gba games of 2 & 3, yoshi's island amd super mario world kinda diluted the appeal of the original games for me. i would have launched the game boy color with a luigi platformer which would have the character sprite from smb2 and the level designs from smb3 and maybe smb2. toad and yoshi would be in it as well. waluigi would be the main villan in the game. power ups would be penguin suit, squirrel suit and the boomerang shell. that should have been super mario land 4 on game boy color with luigi in the starring role.
this is a pretty bad case of just because you can doesn't mean you should. All the missing features, the bowser statue with spitting fire instead of a real bowser, all the upgrades this could possibly have shot down 5 times as hard by said limitations, or rather lack of programming them in correctly.

I think that this is fantastic, and can’t wait to add it to my SNES Mini.
Also bear in mind the release date of this hack being 2005. Very much in the dark ages of rom hacking
