I bought a jump cue and Bryan taught me in a lesson how to jump as I felt in competition, it’s great to have an extra tool in the bag. With that said, I don’t believe pool should allow jump cues. I think jumping should be allowed without a standard cue. Kicking and seeing the angles is what made Efren heads above the competition for decades. He plays the game masterful.

I think if I were good at jumping I'd have a different opinion of whether or not it should be allowed... :D
I wish jumping was not allowed in any form.
Personally, I think jump shots are ugly and take away from the purity of the game. You’ll almost never see Efren jump and he’s probably the GOAT. Just my opinion.
Like most people, you missed two points about Efren. He is a skill 3 cushion player and his Jump Shot is weak. It's not like he is adverse to the shot, it is a weakness in the game of the best player on earth. The was trying to develop a jump shot as recently as 3 years ago.
fwiw, jump shots weren’t utilized too much in the pro scene until Earl hit that jump shot in the 9 ball masters. The tables were also not really conductive to jumping then… the playing surfaces were much softer which made legal jump shots harder.

Kick. I don’t have my own table and places I play don’t like people using their equipment to learn how to jump.
Typically Kick when the need arises ... not comfortable with jumping. Those early developmental/thought/learning times, jumping wasn't permitted in the local establishments and I typically honored those rules; I don't recall ever jumping in any of those places honestly. It's hard to think "away from" those rules too. Others played scoops and called 'em jumps but the owners called 'em out on it and threatened to barr (you can plainly hear it)! Think it's best for each person to learn kicking 1st --- and then learn proper jumping later; controls of jumping or when isn't covered in the rules. Those "local" rules are for the establishment (ie, wear/damage on equipment), not the individual ... so actually is a benefit to the player after all :) . Best Practices -- Learn the game 1st .... then the tricks (of the trade) later! Back then, age of 10/11/12 - even older too... didn't have a quarter, so grabbed the cue ball and hit it around the table --- learned you can do it with intent too, esp english!!! Yeppers -------> Go ME!!! Be Safe

Cool video. Enjoyable. With the jump shot. Depending on the jump ball angle into the rail, the backspin will act as inside english and cause a narrow return.
This could be imagined by spinning a hula hoop backwards and throwing it infont of you, to return to you. This would always worked better against a wall, especially on concrete.
Aiming for the rail groove in front of the diamond on the kick side instead of through the diamond may be a better option while still using using diamond to diamond math. (for the masse draw effect of the jump). Especially when you know zero side spin is applied.

When I’m snookered behind a ball, I find that my percentages of making legal contact with my ball are higher than kicking. And I have a decent kicking game.
That scone shot (bank left English to the side hanger) I had seen a different video where you showed it. It has come up three times in the last few weeks for me, and I hadn’t practiced it yet. First two times I made it, second time against a much better player and it was the ten ball in a game of ten ball (he won all the other games). Third time missed by a good deal, so it’s now something I’m going to actively practice! As well as the others here! Thanks again, great video!
By the way, if a tournament league allows you to jump with a full length cue But doesn’t allow jump cues. They’re ignoring the fact some players are more than likely to damage the table with a full length Cue then with a jump Cue. They’re ignoring the fact that the player that is at fault for damaging the table is the one responsible for replacing the cloth. Just my opinion though.

Good stuff! I've occasionally sunk balls, using a jump kick shot or a jump bank shot. They keep you out of a foul, and when the ball actually goes in the pocket, it's glorious!
Kick of course but when there is no other option i will jump cuz its another weapon in my arsenal😎

Wed/ night my first game was kick shot , opponent wow , me i was thinking same wow after opponent miss straight in shot and it end up as safety

That last shot is personal preference jump vs kick shot. I prefer shooting it with extreme top right (kick) straight at the rail and returning for the 3. Keep up the content! I'm launching my channel soon and am pumped to meet people who love the game of pool too, like yourself.

The three rail spot on the wall trick has gotten he out of lots of jams.
I take on shots 1,2 and 4 regularly in practice sessions, even if a better shot is available. I also test a tables rails rather than shooting straight in shots if I can only hit a few balls.

I jump when the setup is good/better than a kick. When I have to control the cue ball and/or play safe I like to kick. But the real answer is that "it depends" ;-)

Yes, jumps and masses shots are part of the game and should definitely be allowed.
When you're playing in a league like the APA where all the high skilled players hit you with defense after defense, you should be allowed to use any and all of the tools in your toolbox to not give them the ball-in-hand they're looking for.

Kick . As a younger person who didn’t always have 50 cents to play games of pool , I used the free cue ball a lot . Learned a lot about kicking doing that . Plus I never really learned to jump . Confidence in kicking wins out .

I think a good jump shot is good to have. There is alot of people who think jump shots should be banned everywhere. Some seem to think it ruins the safety game, I think it just means you got up your safety game .
Actually tough to say. Because of many reasons. Cloth, Balls, Rails and Railspeed. When I play home and have a league Match I prefere kicking. But having Matches away or on the Road I prefere the jump, if possible. I think the key is confidence with your materials and you honest ability of your game.

Awesome video! I've used the first 4, but not the jump kick. I'll admit I practiced the Efren kick off the side pocket point after watching that shot on RUclips, but I've only been moderately successful with it. Practicing and learning kicks by feel that aren't on the diamond path has been really helpful to me. Most people watch the kicks and banks on videos and can set them up and shoot them if everything is on line, but your videos take it to the next level, showing us how to approach the shots when, (as is most often the case in REAL games), things aren't 'in-line.' I've learned more watching your videos (in combination with watching pro tournament videos and noting what you've been talking about expressed through their games), than I ever learned playing league with people who didn't want to coach. Please keep up the videos. They are helping me, and I'm sure they are helping others as well.
For me if the jumpshot to pocket is an option, I almost always take it. for me, it’s a higher percentage to make the ball then if I’m kicking at it. But kicking is probably one of the most important fundamental skills in my opinion.

APA should allow jump shots for sl5+ but only when you're also vs another sl5+.
Also, why isn't push a legal shot in the APA? 😕
APA does not have a ban on jump shots. It has a ban on jump cues. And in the Masters division, you can use jump cues. That’s where the five v five would get their chance.
I use shot 1 from time to time.bits pretty consistent once u build a feel for the table. Great video
