Man, I've gone from a 4 rank to a 6. Won 3 out of 4 matches. Should of won all 4. I had something going on outside of the pool, and my mind wasn't in that match for 2 games. Almost came back and won. I quit playing for 15 years for more than 1 reason. Started back 6 months ago. Started league 4 weeks ago. I can't believe the difference in what I can do from watching your videos. This reminds me A LOT about a video on YT where Ronnie O'Sullivan says he always plays the same shot but with different speed. If that does not make you think then maybe checkers are a better sport for you 😃❤️
I heard Willie Mosconi say the seldom used English. It was all about speed control. My speed control sucks. It is also the first technique that goes when I quit playing/practicing for a few days.
I watch Han Yu play. I swear one cannot tell from her stroke or where she hits the cue ball whether she is playing a stop shot, a drag shot, or a full table draw shot. I find her skill mesmerizing.

Bryan, another fine video. Suggestion : for your viewers too choose a random zone for your follow and draw shots roll a die and what ever number comes up that's your zone. when a six comes up roll again or add another zone . Have a blessed day. Tom I
I never thought about using the same spot on the CCB and only adjusting power! Nice
One thing that took a while to really sink in is with cue ball control in general is that the less full the CB hits the OB the further it moves afterwards.

Thanks for watching- the reason I don’t show those views is because where I’m actually hitting the wall and where you might be hitting it are very different (as an example if novice players hit a DrawShot at my contact point, they would miscue every time) - and those camera angles like from a GoPro, lie to VIEWER about where the ball is really being contacted - the angle from someone’s forehead does not show their true contact point - so I avoid that type of camera angle - but thank you very much for your recommendation. Really love this drill, here's a question that is pool related have you ever gotten into a rut ,no matter what you due,ball no dropping, or just hitting the knuckle of the table and staying on the pocket, which brings it to this subject, falling short of your position or to far from position

Ooooooh yep. Especially in situations where I have to make position for the money ball. Or even situations where a safety is better than shooting the ball in. Even a little bit can catch me.

I normally don’t do this, but I’m gonna give some unsolicited advice. Brian, you should tell the story behind how your old-fashioned scoreboard changes between episodes. Lol.
That would be an interesting video for two people. Me and You LOL. The board is sometimes a message to someone, sometimes related to the date, sometimes an actual score from playing with someone. For example the 80/20 score was set for a video about The Pareto Principle but I never changed it. And I never released the video. Maybe in a month or two. Thanks for watching.
Brian: do you recommend using the top half of the cue tip for draw shots ?
If he shoot it properly only the top half of the tip is on the ball- the other half is probably dragging on the table. Any higher on the cue ball than that and you’re wasting a substantial amount of the energy the cue is delivering.
This is my biggest problem so I'm glad a friend recommended this video to me. My problem is because I hit too hard or hit too slow I never hit medium and most of the time I hit super hard
Brian you make this game look so easy. Its not. Ive been playing for 6 years now and I will never be close to be being as good as you. Great stuff though :)

Thanks again for the tips!! If you're taking requests my jump shot needs some work. I think a lot of intermediate players and even some advanced players just never get around to perfecting the jump to the best of their ability. If you want to wait until you're going to get new cloth soon that's understandable.👍🎱👍

Just a question you might know for a novice. What is the difference in "spin" and "english"? Not middle top or middle bottom because I learned that english is only on the horizontal plane and not anywhere on the vertical center of the cue ball.
The correct use of the term English is side spin- any left or right spin on the ball including high left my right lower left low right etc. simple high or low without side span is not English. But even people that should know better, get this wrong. Side spin is english!
Hi Brian. I have a question about 8 ball call shot. My opponent told me that I lost the game to him after sinking the eight cleanly into the pocket that I have called. The reason he said I lost was because after contacting the eight first the cue ball caroms off of the eight, sinking his ball first into a pocket before the eight sank in. Is he correct that I have lost the game?
There’s a lot of variations of 8 ball rules out there and are some ridiculous- your friend is playing by one of those which is ridiculous. Sounds like something he made up.
@@FXBilliards Alright, awesome. Thank you for your response Bryan! This was my first time hearing about this rule, so to confirm if I had lost I asked another friend and he agreed with the other guy. I am guessing this is part of the local league rules they play, which is ridiculous.
There are 1000 of variation of rules for potting the 8 ball in pool halls and bars usually the best way to be fair is play the house rules
As the old saying goes when in Rome do as the Romans do
A rule in a bar I was playing in last month was last ball down meaning if you pot the last of your selected balls in a certain pocket you have to put the black in that pockets
Be confident in your abilities to adapt to whatever rules your have to play
You want to get good/better?
Shoot every shot pocket speed. Slow. Every shot. If you can only power in or even med speed, long shots to cause the ball to veer off line less...then your center ball game needs work.
Get shape for your next shot at pocket speed. And yes. You can't do every single shot pocket speed, but just use 3,4,5,6 balls on the table alone and run them out slow. Slow....down.
I’ve been doing this since I was 12 years old and I teach it to my students. We call it the Charlie Holland drill. Charlie was the first person to give me a legitimate pool lesson.
