- 'Jist a Buttery - A weel kent freen tells a story' is a track from Sandy Reid's video ' Aye On The Go' filmed in 2005.
In order to get the required footage to accompany Sandy's poem Gibby and Ann Ross went
to Mackenzie's Bakery in Main Street, Turriff one night and filmed various parts of the process of making butteries, over a period of a few hours.
Only a few minutes of the filming were used on Sandy's track but here you can see more of the bakers busily working during the night. Subscribe to our channel for free.

I'm on a mission to make butteries like I remember them. Just about to give up after two failures. This video, I think, may help me crack it. There's good ideas here, this guy's done it before. Just got to scale it down.
Me too. Would love to find an authentic bakery recipe to make these

@@sas1ukWhen you look at these RUclips efforts you find they’ve never made them before, and they’re frankly rubbish. Just made failure no.3. My best failure so far, at least they’re quite nice and the fat didn’t come out all over the trays.
Easy, just add lard, butter more lard and more butter until your dough is pretty wet and sticky. Flour press flat on your trays proove then bake.
They have an exceptional amount of fat!!! Quite a bit of salt in your bread mix. Wholemeal butteries are the best.
