  • The world-famous Odyssey Alcatraz swim attracts athletes, adventurers, and open water swimmers from around the globe, bringing them to the San Francisco Bay for the 2-mile challenge.
This video compilation is from the July 22, 2023 Odyssey Alcatraz swim. A group of nearly 100 swimmers completes each public Odyssey Alcatraz swim. Upcoming Alcatraz swims include Labor Day (September 4) and November 4. Both swims currently have availability. Learn more here: www.odysseyopenwater.com/alca...
Odyssey Open Water Swimming offers both public and private Alcatraz swims to experienced swimmers. Swimmers should be comfortable swimming over 2 miles in a pool, and have experience in the open water. Odyssey also hosts weekly Berkeley swims throughout the year in the East Bay. Learn more about weekly swims here: www.odysseyopenwater.com/berk...

I’ve always contemplated doing it but always scared of running into a Great White Shark

It's on a lot of swimmers' minds, but luckily most of the sharks in the Bay are small and harmless to humans. No one has ever had any issues with sharks during swim events in the Bay.

@@adamcook8937 no one knows for sure. They've been spotted a few times but pretty rarely.
