Jaden Luna I feel Raids Again tells its story more cleanly when compared to a lot of the middle ones. Raids seems like the black sheep of the franchise, most people dislike it quite a bit haha

The Showa era was quite an interesting era in Godzilla’s history it all began with a dark and depressing film that represented war and the atomic bombs and then slowly began to get more and more child friendly to the point where by the 70s Godzilla movies where mainly aimed for kids yeah the 70s where even the design of Godzilla began to get more cute compared to the monster we saw just 15 years prior

Ebirah, Horror of the Deep and Son of Godzilla are two of my favorites of the Showa era because I felt like they were a breath of fresh air for the series. While they aren't on an epic, grandiose scale, they are still have very entertaining stories with likable charismatic characters that carried me through the parts without the monsters, never letting me get bored. I felt that that the smaller scale worked to their benefit as it tends to get tiring when each entry in the series all of Japan or even the whole world is at stake.
I believe that although the 50’s and 60’s are still better, I believe that the 70’s showa movies are underrated gems. They are all very fun to watch with the cool and silly action and writing that is not outstanding but serves the story well. Also the every villain monster that it offers is really cool and and memorable, in my opinion.

I think #2 should be godzillla vs mechagodzilla because mechagodzilla was actually one of the most challenging godzilla enemies ever. So you didn't just see punch, punch, atomic breath, done, but the best part is the soundtrack.

Great Ranking but in my opinion Son of Godzilla is very underrated. Yes, Godzilla and Minilla look ugly and there is barely any destruction, but I like the human characters very much and the tropical flair is something different. You also get very much monster-screentime (like twice as much as in the Showa-Ghidorah-films) and the insects are a welcome change to the usual reptilian-like-opponents. The ending is also very strong and surprisingly heartwarming.

I think #2 should be godzillla vs mechagodzilla because mechagodzilla was actually one of the most challenging godzilla enemies ever. So you didn't just see punch, punch, atomic breath, done, but the best part is the soundtrack.

That would be so cool.
Great Ranking but in my opinion Son of Godzilla is very underrated. Yes, Godzilla and Minilla look ugly and there is barely any destruction, but I like the human characters very much and the tropical flair is something different. You also get very much monster-screentime (like twice as much as in the Showa-Ghidorah-films) and the insects are a welcome change to the usual reptilian-like-opponents. The ending is also very strong and surprisingly heartwarming.
For me the best movies of the Showa era is Invasion Of Astro Monster, Terror Of Mecha Godzilla and Godzilla vs Hedorah
I would love If they reincarnated the original godzila from 1954 with CGI in the modern day
