Hi Michael. Very lovely video, and wondering whether I could impose a little on your good nature. The stages you did, could you share how long each of the stages was please?

Hi Mal. We walked from Geneva to Le-Puy in 14 days for a total of 352 kilometres. This was an average of 25 km per day. This was a comfortable distance giving us plenty of time to enjoy the sights and not feel rushed at all. The individual days were as follows. Geneva -Charly 25km, to Desingy 29km, to Chanaz 28km, to Yenne 23km, to Saint-Genix-sur-Guiers 23km, to Valencogne 23km, to La Frette 20km, to Revel-Tourdan 30km, to Clonas-sur-Vareze 26km, to St-Julien-Molin-Molette 26km, to Les Setoux Riotord 25km, to Tence 27km, to Queyrieres 19km, to Le-Puy 28km. We have done a few long walks now and even though this was not the longest, it was the most beautiful and a real joy to walk. Kind regards. Michael.

Hi. Thankyou for your comments. I walked the Gebennensis with my wife and daughter and we absolutely loved the walk. France was a delight. Because there was three of us, it was easiest to stay mostly in accueils jacquaires. This was a pleasure to experience being in a French home and experiencing French food and hospitality. From memory the cost was around 40-45 euros per person for dinner, bed and breakfast. This seemed very reasonable. We did stay in a couple of gites where these were available. These were much cheaper as we supplied our own meals.
In 2019 we did not see a lot of other Pilgrims walking and none that were camping. My wife and I carried a lightweight tent and camping equipment with us if necessary. This we used more often after Le Puy on the way to Saint Jean-Pied-de-Port and then into Spain.
Wishing you all the best for your walk in 2023. You will love it. We have walked a number of Caminos in Spain and France and the via Gebennensis was easily the most beautiful due to the countryside and the villages that we walked through. Not to mention the French people who were always friendly and helpful. We could easily do this walk again. Good luck.

Would you be able to tell me which guidebook you might have used for accommodations. I purchased a book and I don’t find it very useful. Thanks

Hi Chris. Apologies for the delay. To be honest, I cannot remember the name of the accommodation guidebook that we used. It was a small, staple bound booklet with either a blue or yellow cover. Not a fancy publication at all. It's long gone now.
