"And to demonstrate that wasn't a fluke..."
[continues to smash the already shattered bits of plastic]
THat's brilliant XD
When people ask me why I would waste my time scrolling through the comments section of RUclips...
“And to demonstrate that wasn’t a fluke…”
[smashes it on the ground]
And that kids is how you solve it the bored way
He does smash it
The makers of "the slash proof bag" now proudly present: "the smash proof box"
crack proof box! will only shatter lol
@@outseeker no, the hammer-proof box. cannot be opened by MC hammer.
@@sharkforce8147 why not? because he *can't touch this*

Whenever LPL talks about Mrs LPL is to teach us humility and the simplest of approaches may be the most effective
I still love when he locked up a pint of ice cream and she cut the bottom off.
@@Acorn_Anomaly I loved that video
@@Acorn_Anomaly very wholesome
Also, she demonstrates perfectly that violence works.
You don’t have a problem if the problem doesn’t exist 🤔
"Just to keep Mrs LPL happy..."
Dude has his priorities right ^_^
".... It apears that it does"
It appears that he does.
Happy wife, happy life
If Mrs lockpickinglawyer isn't happy, no lock picker is happy
Now I want to see LPL speedrun an escape room
this
There is a reason those typically don't allow picking
He'd probably be pretty good at it even without obvious circumvention of obstacles (which is often specifically disallowed). Would definitely watch that!
I think Mrs LPL's speedrun might be more exciting to see, provided she was appropriately armed.
@@AesculapiusPiranha he'd probably have to work it out with the company/operators, but I could totally see him demonstrating the correct method, then the lockpicking lawyer method of the escape room
I don’t think we have seen a destructive entry in a while.
Yeah, nice ending. It's nice to see LPL cut loose.
At least the maker of the puzzle box did not advertise it as "hammer resistant". (I assume).
@@wulf2121 oddly enough, this puzzle box would actually qualify for slash resistant, unlike everything else LPL had tested with that claim.
Oooo matron..
Cousin of the AvE X-ray device.
Your channel earned me free Wendy’s today. I knew how to properly shim a door and was able to let apartment management back into their office. Thanks for the burger and coke!
I expected that tale to go differently.
Haha that's awesome
@@doctorwhouse3881 they had us in the first half
never been locked out of my house... At this point I am considering just not locking doors... hahaha
Two things here...
1) you work very cheaply. Shudda gotten fries with that.
2) Apartment management is going to keep an eye on you from now on. 🤣
You party encounters a puzzle with loot inside. What do you do?
Wizard: use intelligence to solve quickly.
Rouge: pick it open.
Barbarian: smash it with hammer.
A fellow rpg player.
You sure are cultured!
No one checked for traps

Entire dungeon: Stops, turns and stares at the rogue.
DM: So, you're looking for traps... in a transparent puzzle. No need for dice that's an automatic 1 on the skill check. The puzzle explodes doing 6d6 damage to everyone nearby.
I just imagined LPL's wife making her own chanel specifically about non covert entry/opening methods.
I'd watch that.
“This is Mrs. LockPickingLawyer and what I have for you today is a fun little wrecking ball!”
"This is Mrs. LockPickingLawyer, and what I have for you today is this solid brick wall. To gain entry, we will be using breaching charges."

Based on this and the Ben and Jerry's ice cream episode it seems like Mrs LPL is a fan of destructive entry methods
More like of optimalized and effective ones 😅
She's a practical, no none sense sort of woman. A trait l hold in high regard. 😎
She definitly is a fan of Photonicinduction... :-)
We never heard a word from her, and based on her entry methods she probably opens their front door with a crowbar. So Mrs. LPL is Gordon Freeman.
So you're saying she smashes 😏
I really appreciate the different kinds of approach. Everytime Mrs. LPL makes an appearance it's either thinking outside the box, utter chaos or brute force. She really gets sh*t done. I would not mess with her. 10/10 🤣
Mrs LPL, the most practical person I've ever heard of. Why be fancy, when you can be efficient?
Makes me think LPL only has button fly jeans to allow for non destructive entry
I bet she's a big fan of that famous scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
He only hit it with a hammer once; how are we supposed to know that it wasn’t a fluke?
Your comment makes me so angry.
Hahaha 👍
Holy shit, it's true
Your comment made me laugh.
No problem there, try the other two methods if you don't trust the hammer :D
I was *NOT* expecting that ending. I got a good laugh out of that.
i was kind of suprised when i heard the crash.... couldn't help laughing
Happy wife, happy life.
@@stephane.9406 Same, I thought I may have woken up the neighbors
He said 3 ways.... Ohhhh, ok
should have cut right before the hammer hit, that would have been so much better
"Let's see if a hammer can smash this plastic thing" is about on par with "let's see if it was just a fluke" in terms of rethorical-ness.
Fan: _sends a puzzle box_
Mrs. LPL: "Imma end this man's whole career"
You and Mrs. LockPickingLawyer appear perfectly matched. She is clearly capable and smart, but has *no* time for this shit. It’s great.
Reminds me of the ice cream lock video
@@hinether That was quite funny! No time for shenanigans when she wants the ice cream. She must be a very patient woman. I know if I tried that, I'd have caught heck for it.

@@Cucumber_Dragon Cant Touch This - M.C. Hammer
As he was wrapping up the video, I was confused because the title said "three ways", but he only demonstrated two methods. The very ending of the video was unexpected and clearly demonstrated the third method. Perfect!
I assumed the third method was going to be the implication of the hammer. Actually smashing it caught me off guard.
I’d like to see you pick open a fairly difficult lock with a paper clip and a Bobby pin. That’s how it’s always done in movies.
I once opened a lock with a bobby pin (basically just functioned as a wave rake) and I'm sure you could bend a paper clip into a semi effective pick... granted it was not a difficult lock if a teenager could do it with a bobby pin having never tried to pick a lock before, but I'm sure LPL could do better lol
I opened a Master lock model 140 yesterday with two bent bobby pins. I’d never picked a lock in my life before that so I was rather pleased with myself.
Just to make sure it wasn’t a fluke, I did it again. Twice.
Attempt number one took two hours, attempt number two took under a minute and the third attempt took slightly longer at a little under two minutes.
I've picked a couple of locks with two paper clips bent into a hook and a tensioning tool. It's definitely doable, but the softness of the average paper clip can be an issue.
@@Tantalus010 So true! The paper clip is too soft to exert high tension on the core and to be used effectively as a hook it needs a wide keyway. They're only good for simple locks like cabinets and closet locks.
@@unknownpt i used 2 bobby pins to open my dads steel cupboard for some chocolates lol
You’ve heard of Chekhov’s gun? The idea that if you show a gun on stage, someone has to use it before the end of the play? Well, meet the Lockpicking Lawyer’s Hammer.
I was almost disappointed when only two methods were presented, followed by the "all I got for you today"
And then hammer Colomboed in (или выстрелил Чеховским ружьём, да)
He did it at the end...
I was almost disappointed
"Is he really not going to smash... Oh there we go"
Unlike Chekov's gun, which turned out to not work when he needed it in Star Trek IV
@@daFatD Different Chekhov, but perhaps that was the point.
"opened three ways": he's aiming for his Michelin star of lockpicking.
I think a magnet could have been used to create a 4th...
he only did 2 though
I think he IS the Michelin star.
@@DuelScreen How? unless you use the magnet as a hammer.
@@KusacWolf oh. nice
1:48 this disapointment in his voice when he wants to have fun but his lockpicking skill is so high that maze solved itself accidently.
I absolutely love that the Lock Picking Lawyer's spouse has the initial reaction of "Beat it with a hammer!" Coupled with the Thor/Avengers reference... this may be my favorite LPL ever :D
"So she suggested tapping with the hammer to jostle the spring mechanism?"
...
"Oh."
Nah she's very direct in her approach to problems, ie the ice cream lock.
I honestly expected him to involve a magnet to drag the ball. Didn't expect a dry-erase marker. Should've figured he'd just slide a pick in there to move the lever.
Yeah, I went with the magnet when someone sent me one of these a few years back.
@@DamnedSilly I was also thinking magnet but didn’t know if they used a ferrous bearing or not.
No need for magnetism when you can use gravity ^^
@@AlyssaMcNeil You don't always have a help of gravity. What if you're on the ISS? Magnets are just much more reliable.
Moving the ball isn't difficult so a magnet wouldn't do anything.
After watching the video in .25 speed and analyzing frame by frame I now know what LPL looks like.
A camera on a stand.
"I'm going to put the hammer down" *convoy starts playing*
LPL: “Let’s just trace from the end to the ball.”
The ball: “Okay, I give up!”
Making LPL solve a kid’s puzzle for one dollar.
Priceless
I think that's why he smashed it at the end. Not Mrs LPL's idea, more like Insulted LPL's revenge.
@@stephengibbins8661 To be fair, the Mrs. LPL method was the fastest of the three
Priceless
lol
The price was 1 dollar
@@mchsprod no, the prize was one dollar
LPL: *GETS ARRESTED*
LPL: *BREAKS OUT OF JAIL*
LPL: *GETS CAUGHT ON PURPOSE*
LPL: *LET ESCAPE AGAIN TO SHOW ITS NOT A FLUKE* 😅
This brings to mind Jacques Futrelle's short story "The Problem of Cell 13" wherein the hero, "The Thinking Machine," smugly asserts that nothing is impossible to a knowledgeable man. So he is placed, unprepared, in a jail cell of an escape-proof prison. He effects an escape with a certain in-your-face panache, while asserting he had two other routes available.
Tragically, Futrelle went down with the Titanic, cutting short his writing career.
Sylvester Stalone should call on him for Escape Plan 4 (or 5) lol
And then lets the cops know "You know the 'Lawyer' bit of my sobriquet"? Cops just walk away!
@@Register_2017 this had me laughing oh yes
Mrs. LPL appears to be highly underrated! Witty, practical, effective. Well done, signed a fan!
The LPL way on this puzzle box still took longer than some Master locks you've featured
Hell, the Mrs. LPL way took longer than some of them
I was surprised you didn't use a Nd magnet to drag the ball along the marker lines.
I thought thats what he was going to do
That's a great idea!
Or hold the box upside down so it doesnt fall
Thats what i was thinking too.
I know it probably is, but I still want to know for definite if that that ball is steel/magnetic. Using a magnet would have afforded the LPL so much more control, I kind of can't believe he didn't go for that.
I love the fact ms lockpicking lawyers go to method is just sheer brute force just like she did with the icecream lock
I find that mazes are vastly easier from the end, most off branches are designed to fool you as a prospect exit, but theres usually one good "entrance" branch
LPL: She suggested an opening method that didn't quite mesh with my usual style
The Ramset: Am I a joke to you?
He never said he never does it but it 's far more common for him to pick or manipulate something than to destroy it.

Tracing from the end point: Effective
Pushing the lock lever: Very effective
Smashing the box with a hammer: *Super effective*
It's brilliant, brilliant, *brilliant* I tell you! Genius, I say!
"And we're going to use the hammer that Mrs. LPL and I made...."
0:40 I love the way he addresses his method of using a dry erase marker to plot the route for a ridiculous puzzle like it's something that is: A) Something he does every day, and B) Akin to a trade skill, such as when doing carpentry.
What a time to be alive. 😂
I love when you have ideas from your wife. My favorite one to show my wife was the Ben and Jerry's lock.
That ending, though. Once again I am amazed at his prowess for deadpan. I probably would not have been able to stifle a laugh at how sudden and effective that was.

For the record, Ely, MN is pronounced "EE-lee".
Lol but why? I always wonder why in cases like this. The sounds the letters make as combined don't equate to your pronunciation....
@@brianm.595 My guess is it has to do with the Finns and Slovenians that settled the area. If not them, I'm guessing some other ethnic group was involved.
@@SamWise050 Ely is actually mentioned by name in one of the articles I pulled up on Slovenian settlement in the US to learn myself a thing or three about another ethnic group I wasn't as familiar with. So, thanks for that!
Can confirm, that is the pronunciation used by the locals 🙂
I would assume that it is named after the Cathedral city of Ely in Cambridgeshire in England, the name of the city dates back to the formation of the Abbey in 673 but the name comes from the isle of Ely on which the Abbey was built, so the name Ely is probably a lot older.
It's not an island anymore, the area was drained in the 17th Century.
The name probably comes from the abundance of Eels in the region hence an eel-ly place.
Many place names in the UK don't follow modern pronunciation trends, the places have been there so long that the English language has changed around them, I'm afraid even as a native you can get caught out sometimes.

She wakes up and chooses violence. Always.
@@terencetsang9518 Why do you think she married a lawyer?
I love puzzle boxes. I once had a young niece. For Christmas one year, I put all of her things inside of a dog cage and closed it with locks. I then bought several different kinds of puzzle locks; a plastic one like the one in this video, a few of those Japanese-style ones with the sliding pieces, etc., each of which held one of the keys to a lock. She had to solve all the puzzle boxes to unlock the cage to get her things - and if she didn't figure it all out by midnight, well, then her mother would get everything inside.
There was a set of lock picks in that cage along with everything else. When she finally got the cage open (it took many hours), I told her she should figure out how to use those lock picks. Might come in handy.
Because the next year I did the same thing - I put everything inside of a locked dog cage, except this time, there were no keys. (o:
First off, yeah right. But if you did do that, you’re actually a piece of shit and I feel bad for your niece and any kids you might have. That is unnecessary and cruel to do to a child, on Christmas no less. Way to make an entire holiday about you, and your cheap, meaningless presents.
Great new bonus content at the end of this video. Would love to see more of it in future videos.
Mrs. LPL needs a channel where she solves all the locks you pick HER way

Yes, but even then it's careful placement and a controlled environment. The hammer in this case is just "LPL SMASH!"
@@skreeog Last video of his where he was shooting at a lock, it took 120 rounds (60 5.56, 40 7.62 AP and 20 .50 BMG) to defeat the lock. It was a lot easier for him to just pick it.
thank you for showing us how Mrs. LPL would open the box!
Got a good laugh out of the little add-on to the usual ending. Thank you!
I'm surprised he rotated the box instead of dragging directly along the line with a magnet to save 2 seconds :D
Well, that would be chea... Oh wait, that's what we're here for. Yeah, he should have done that too.
He saved the 2 mins it would take to go get his magnet pickup tool. :D
Imagine him breaking the puzzle box only to find out the lens cap was on.
"Oh shoot. Well luckily I can just break into the time vault and rewind to the start. Let's see here... oh, a Master lock. And I'm in."
Loved the end, always good to keep your partner happy. :)
Ms LPL destructive ways! That actually startled me! It came out of nowhere. I did not expect that that.
When you call the lawyer to get out of jail and he comes with a lock pick…
Better than an angle grinder!
And apparently a hammer

“Ms LockingPickingLawyer suggested this method” *pulls out a mallet*
I’m getting severe Ben and Jerry’s vibes here
Note that she didn't smash the ice cream container though...
My grandma got myself and my two siblings a puzzle box for Christmas one year. I, the diligent one, spent the next 5 minutes opening it the proper way and got my $100. My little brother, seeing me open mine, decided to punch his and it opened right up for him. Then my older sister asked me to open hers which I did after some light teasing. One of my fondest memories of my teenage years and it just breaks my heart knowing my brother is no longer with us. Genuinely enjoyed this video
A smile, a big grin and a slow clap on the final opening!
"now when I showed this to Ms. LPL, she suggested an opening method that would be no doubt effective"
*hammer pans in*
How does he fit so much into 2.5 minutes!
Also love the bonus attack at the end 🤣
I like Mrs LPL's thinking! 👍😂
I like Mrs. LPL. She seems like a very straight to the point problem solver.
