    I remember this on SNL and it was huge. Good on Dan Ackroyd for making it happen. Gord was amazing.

    I remember taping this on VHS (still got it somewhere) and thinking this is where they'd made it, gonna blow up huge. They did of course, where it counted; in their own home country -- Canada! 🇨🇦❤️

      He was close to Trudeau, even in the tragically hip show Trudeau was there.. with his push with til the end with his aboriginal project. Would have love to see how he would have reacted to that tyrant and a terrible human he is right now to the Canadian nation. Gord, the mand who walks wit the stars, please help us to find our way back to our roots. 😐❤

    Remember watching this as a 17 year old then bolting out right after to play midnight hockey and then eat some Johnny’s hamburgers at 3am.

    I miss them so much. Saw them live in 92 at Grafitti’s in Pittsburgh, PA. Where I fell in love with this band. There was about 20people in the place and we had our own private show, IT WAS AMAZING. Went on to see them many times in the 90’s. Mostly in Cleveland, OH. ♥️Miss you Gord

    Was having a grand night out at Dow's Lake rideau canal, frozen and nd drove home to watch this legendary performance. Life long hip fan, Notts, Ottawa, Toronto and Kirkland Lake cheers for posting

    I saw The Hip the night before the SNL show in Austin, TX at the SXSW convention. Hands down best show I ever saw anyone do, and I saw them a few times (including The Country of Miracles), all in the US. I live in NJ, and I only wish I had seen them in Ontario.
    I hope Paul, Rob, Gord & Johnny are well, and Gord is resting easy.

    Grace too was out in 1994, they were on SNL in 1995. Too bad , they would’ve been really big in the US.
    Look up the song from the Tragically Hip. It’s called “Grace Too” go in a rabbit hole afterwards.

    I didn't know what I was missing out on until I moved to Port Huron, MI a few years ago which is a border city with Sarnia, ON and able to listen to a Canadian rock radio station.

    You Americans are missing out on a lot of good tunes.
    Trooper, Streetheart, Doug and the Slugs, Prism, Max Webster (or Kim Mitchell by himself), The Powder Blues Band, Payolas and The Stampeders to name a few.
    Just in case you are young or live in a cave. There is also Rush, Loverboy ,Triumph, Noel Young, Red Rider (Tom cochrane) and The Guess Who.

    There are bands and then there is a Canadian treasure called The tragically hip. So many good memories with them playing in the background, but I alway heard a hip song come on. So many starry nights. So many bon-fires, so many things and I couldn’t imagine these memories without the Hip in them . I love you guys, You have made so many peoples memories so friggan nostalgic, it’s pure magic, To this day and forever I know our Tragically hip will be there making memories! For all of us! ❤❤❤

    Dan Akroyd insisted on having them as the musical guest if he went on with Letterman and they agreed. Hip slayed with their two strange and wonderful songs, and we thought this is it, US will discover and embrace en masse. Not quite, but giant they were nonetheless, led by the shaman bard and warrior poet Gord Downie...

      Not very. They're from Toronto. They were popular in Buffalo, Boston, and small towns in the Northeast. I was introduced to them from a friend from Massachusetts. I am a Led Zeppelin, The Who, and Rolling Stones fan. I sincerely choose The Hip over those 3 eternally fantastic bands

    Not the best choice of song (as wonderful as it is to a Hip- tuned audience) to a nation of newbies. Not enough to hook the average American unfortunately. New Orleans is Sinking or Blow at High Dough would’ve made better SNL selections. Missed opportunity of what could’ve been.

    I'm from kingston ontario o a lake Across from a famous movie star and they have played out there a few times. With a bunch of NHL? Hockey players and i've been fortunate that my grandfather was a, Influential member in the kingston area which got us access to the shows.
