- Clive Biggs is an expert breeder of Nguni, an indigenous African Sanga cattle breed. He operates Nandi Ngunis Stud in Eastern South Africa, which has the reputation as one of the highest quality Nguni breeding operations in the world.
In this podcast we discuss the breed attributes including legendary fertility, robustness and farming efficiency. We also cover Clive's unique grazing techniques and why I think these cattle are the future of ruminant regenerative agriculture in the world.

Clive passed away on the Easter weekend, 2024. He was struck by lightning while tending his Nguni bulls on his ranch. As you can see in this interview, Clive was an absolute gentleman, extremely humble despite being an expert in his field, around South Africa and the World. I feel very fortunate to have recorded this interview Clive and share his perspectives with you. He will be greatly missed and remembered fondly. Rest in Peace, Clive🙏
May he rest in peace. Thenguni family has just lost a titan
Thanks for this great conversation, I learned a lot and really enjoyed it.
Thanks for watching Rod
Clive has passed on..he was strike by lightning today 29-03-24...R.I.P
Tragic. A massive loss 😔🙏
The problem with Eurocentric agriculture is that it somehow depreciates the input of the indigenous farmer in indigenous sub-Saharan African farming and when it gains these livestock, it introduces the same processes that led to failed Eurocentric breeding approach. I wonder if it will not all end in the same boat since the same Captain is in charge. Then again, my input is likely to be depreciated.
You poor little victim
I need this breed and I think the best would be to acquire semen and i hope they can resist tropical climates with tropical diseases please advise how to acquire the semen and I could do with inseminator
Which country are you based in?
Sad part is the nguni is still being discriminated against and there is still a lot of ignorance and bias about the breed.
We are changing that! New paradigm values the amazing attributes of this breed
I have noticed also in the uk there are regenerative farmers who are also turning back the native breeds. Local is lekker👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Nguni is not a breed. It is a mix of anything looking remotely like a cow. Like all non-thoroughbred animals, they are very hardy. But the meat yield is not high.
Udakiwe wena..
False totally false.
It is a landrace developed over many generations a d resistant to diseases , pests and poor pasture an invaluable breed
oh gosh, you people enjoy being an embarrassment
Are'nt you drunk with pineapple maybe?
