Recognized by almost everyone as the best live guitar solo of all time this shows the unbelievable talent of this band. The song transcends both space and time and will go down forever among the best live performances ever.
Most of those who disagree with "the best" are those who prefer Sultans of Swing or Telegraph Road (both the Alchemy live version) as the best live guitar "solos" ever. But in fact' none of those is a solo: this are instrumental parts, not solos. But they are GREAT! I could not pick one as "the best". Some few performances are just beyond perfect and this is one of it.
Yes...wow...arguably the greatest guitar solo of all time. David Gilmour turns up looking like he's going out for a night down the pub, belts out this solo, probably went for a drink afterwards?. Great music by very talented musicians who make it look effortless. And this is in the encore, Run Like Hell up next finishes the show.
Pink Floyd is deeper than the Mariana trench, higher than any satellites orbiting earth, cooler than an iceberg in a river of liquid nitrogen, hotter than a solar flare of lava spouted from the sun, smoother than a quantum stabilized atom mirror, more Zen than 10,000 Buddhist monasteries, larger than what we know as our universe. Their music is an enigma that is beyond what we are capable of comprehending. Their music is timeless!
The eyes close, a pained expression comes over the face, the head sways. Welcome, you have been Floyd'd. The pained expression is Gilmore tugging on your soul!!!
Fake to the bone ... she know floyd more than u think... all head bangings and hummings was in sync with the whole song .... Stop click and give $ to her
Pink Floyd is my favorite band. Comfortably numb is my favorite song. There is something about Pink Floyd. You do not listen to Pink Floyd, you experience Pink Floyd. To really get the context of the song it needs to be heard in the play of the album "The Wall". There is also a movie made following that album that is fantastic to see by the same name as the album.
I’ve probably watched this performance over 100 times and I’m still thinking WOW every time I see i. I’m glad you’re enjoying Pink Floyd because there is a lot to enjoy about Pink Floyd. If you react to more Pink Floyd I would recommend RunLike Hell from this concert or Time from the album.
Some guy calles himself David Gilmour, silences the universe with his talking guitar in a simple jeans and t-shirt.. Today's "super"stars don't have the right to stand in his shadow ;-)
Great reaction! You're starting to get it 😉 Keep listening 👌 I've been arguing for years now, that the the "introspect and wisdom" reflected within many of the lyrics written by Rock, and "Alternative Rock" artists of the latter part of the 20th century, rival those of all the great "Classics" throughout history. What amazed me, is that this was accomplished primarily by our "youth". And it is my strong contention that the fact that this modern day "Age of Enlightenment" occurred during the same period as the "Psychedelic Era", was far more than a coincidence. Everything happens for a reason! Thank you for experiencing this performance without interrupting. Saving your observations after the performance was over. ✌
Thank you so much for reacting to this. I was in high school here in North Carolina when this song first came out in 1979. I remember it well. My girlfriend and I at the time loved attending concerts. It was one of the things we loved doing together. My wife loved concerts as well during that time. There were a huge number of wonderful groups at the time and concerts were not very expensive to attend. Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Boston, Journey, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Triumph, 38 Special, Foreigner, and many others. I can not describe to you what a wonderful time it was to be young then. We were happier, relationships were closer, life was more carefree, and the music was spectacular. My heart just aches that young people will not get to experience life as we did as teenagers in the 70’s/80’s. Again, thank you so much for posting this video. It was a wonderful treat.
Your reaction to one of the best if not THE BEST bands of all time was exactly the way you were supposed to experience PINK FLOYD! YOU PUT ON YOUR HEADPHONES, KICK BACK AND ALLOW THE MUSIC TO POUR OVER YOU UNTIL YOU BECOME ONE!
First, never close your eyes. Always keep your eyes on the show. Pink Floyd in concert is not just musical, its also visual. If youre reacting to the studio version. Close your eyes and flow with the song. The Pulse concert you have to watch the whole show or youll miss some key moments. The lights and special effect are built to pull your emotions to the surface.
I enjoyed your reaction to this classic. The lyrics initially describe an event that happened to band member Roger Waters before they did a big concert in the 70's, where he became very ill and in severe pain with hepatitis, and didn't think he could go on stage. They called in an on-call doctor, who injected him with strong muscle relaxants and pain killers to let him perform, but he felt so spaced out from them that he couldn't feel or control his hands. It reminded him of how he felt as a child when he was sick with a high fever. In the second verse, he describes how the dreams we have for our lives when we are children gradually are forgotten, as we compromise and take easier paths and settle for 'good enough' instead of the outstanding lives we'd thought we would live, but are now just 'comfortably numb' to life. That's my interpretation, anyway.
Your understanding of what the song was about was amazing your a very intelligent young woman this band exceed music sometimes with roger waters lyrics and gilmours guitaring over there time they are the perfect band
I was at one of those gigs at Earls Court in the 90's, just amazing. They also performed the whole of 'The Dark Side of the moon' in the first session, just unbelievable.
" comfortably numb," yes on the meaning of both, then the solo takes you on your journry depending upon which path you take. Never get sick of Pink Floyd, brilliant! Gen X was so blessed with music. " the turning away," pulse next.
If you want to see what the "Backing Singers" can do Pink Floyd "The Great Gig in the Sky" live Pulse Concert Possibly the deepest dive into the emotions surrounding Death you will ever hear
some 40 plus yrs. since this song release and some people haven't heard this yet. Pink Floyd # 2 all time selling across the world. never seen so many reactions to a song or viewed on you tube. Same song Dave Gilmour "Live at Pompeii" over 125 million views. He wrote the music on a acoustic guitar for a solo album.
You are a very intelligent young lady and beautiful...your analysis was so outstanding, that it made me look at it differently...you have a gift for such a young age.
Another great reaction, Ms. Shockwave. This is by far the best rendition of Comfortably Numb. The way David Gilmour bends those notes on his fretboard, making them last so long and powerfully----no other guitarist comes close with that technique, and it gives us that signature Pink Floyd sound. I noticed you reacted to the opener (Shine On You Crazy Diamond) of this fantastic concert; when you get a chance, check out the closer: Run Like Hell. It will blow you away!
Simply immerse yourself in the music and let yourself go - there is no better way to do that than with this song. Your reaction shows how it can work. Great, keep it up. Greetings from Germany😉
The lyrics were written by Roger Waters of Pink Floyd, about an occasion when he felt too ill to go on stage and the doctor had to give him a 'shot' to keep him going.
The lyrics were inspired by am incident in Roger Waters' youth where he became very ill and a doctor shot him full of who knows what that had him in a comfortably numb state. In the context of the album and movie, the main character "Pink" has basically a psychotic break. His manager (Bob Hoskins in the movie) has a doctor again inject him with who knows what to get him on stage to perform. The song compares the two incidents.I love that you love this song.💙
This song is just 1 part of a story from the album " The Wall ". I encourage you to listen to the whole album and others. The Dark Side Of The Moon, Wish You Were Here and The Wall. For me Dark Side Of The Moon, when I was young. Fantastic. Now that I'm older ( 70 ) I really understand the words. I wish I did back then !
Its actually about a member of the band. The explanation is out there. I love the way you let the track run before you commented because that way you experienced it as one piece. Great review and I am glad you enjoyed it.
Great reaction Shockwave, brilliant song. I used to have a dream when I was a child of falling off a cliff or a bridge or something and hit the ground, it wouldn't kill me but it would hurt. I have never really worked out what those dreams were suppose to mean??? I may have had more details but as the song says, the child has grown, the dream is gone?
This album is a rock opera, the story of a young man in the underground trains in World War II, where it says the flames have long gone, but the pain lingers on, then his crazy childhood, his mother, which she made him afraid of everything in life, starts, playing music, getting famous, bad, relationships, drugs, and the bands doctor, giving them a shot for this song to get him comfortably numb
Based on a true story, the whole album is based on a true story, from the beginning of life to the end life and all the struggles in between, the dark side of the moon album is excellent, time, iis another excellent song,
i recomended that you react to this, im so glad that you liked it, i new you would, id recomend you react to MONEY from the same pulse concert, im sure you will enjoy it
You MUST watch the movie The Wall. Want a real cry from Pink Floyd listen to Hey You. Whatever it cost to go to this show was worth it. 4/20+ on it's way.😁
Him and a Dr. was giving meads to calm a upset stomach before a performanmce and comparing it to a time he was a kid and sick. the band was against drugs
Pink Floyd is the Juggernaut - the Goliath of the music industry. An example is their album DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, which holds the worlds record for the number of weeks at #1...200 and some consecutive weeks at #1...just over 4 years. JUGGERNAUTS. GOLIATHS.

dire straits, the eagles & chicago all have fantastic outros as well!!

DAMN!
"Wow"! Very nicely said young lady. That's is how everybody feels when they hear this for the first time.
Thank you so much.
The eyes close, a pained expression comes over the face, the head sways. Welcome, you have been Floyd'd.
The pained expression is Gilmore tugging on your soul!!!
I absolutely have been Floyd’d .👍🏽☺️
Bless you for knowing The Rule: One does not interrupt a David Gilmour guitar solo.
Thank you for watching 🙏☺️

The guitar solo is literally about the song... it's so good.
Absolutely 👍🏽
Yes. The correct reaction to this is to just vibe out and talk after. Well done! You looked to be having a great experience.
Thank you for watching 🙏
Watch the whole Pulse concert....it will change your life!
I guess I would have to check all of it out .👍🏽
Great reaction! You're starting to get it 😉 Keep listening 👌

I was at one of those gigs at Earls Court in the 90's, just amazing. They also performed the whole of 'The Dark Side of the moon' in the first session, just unbelievable.
I can only imagine how beautiful and incredible that must have been. Hopefully one day I would have the opportunity to see them perform live too .
... just iconic...
Absolutely 💯
You are very wise and perceptive. This song went through several different early versions but one of them was called The Doctor.
Thank you. I really enjoyed this incredibly piece.
Great reaction video - thank you!
Thank you so much

I was there that night, the most amazing thing I've ever seen
I can only imagine…
as a DJ I knew from a long time ago would say, "THIS is an eargasm"
some 40 plus yrs. since this song release and some people haven't heard this yet. Pink Floyd # 2 all time selling across the world. never seen so many reactions to a song or viewed on you tube. The lyrics were written by Roger Waters of Pink Floyd, about an occasion when he felt too ill to go on stage and the doctor had to give him a 'shot' to keep him going.
Very Good review . Enjoy your discovery of all the music you have yet to hear. Just as I will. (And I am almost 70 years old ) 💠💠💠
Thank you so much for watching, I am so loving this journey, I’ll be checking out more. Nice having you here too☺️🙏

I have to be impressed with your reaction. Many people think this is about drugs rather than being about the human condition.
Thank you so much.🙏

Best Solo Ever!
Great reaction
Thank you 🙏
That was the second-best solo at the PULSE concert /tour that is on KEEP TALKING!
Sorrow also was another good one and keep talking both were awesome!
I would one hundred Taylor Swifts for just ONE Pulse Concert.
Taylor who?
Always listen to the studio version first. ❤
Okay. Thanks 🙏
I like that Wauw. 🇩🇰.
I don't think I'm wrong if I say that you liked it.
You seemed speechless at the end of the song, but that silence spoke very loudly.
You are absolutely right 💯I liked it so much
Just an old guy in jeans n T with his mates! 😂😂😂
i recomended that you react to this, im so glad that you liked it, i new you would,

You MUST watch the movie The Wall.
Want a real cry from Pink Floyd listen to Hey You.
Whatever it cost to go to this show was worth it.
4/20+ on it's way.😁
Is that a full length movie?
The album was made into a movie. This is just one song.
I know how you feel..
Davids wife commented that he has trouble communicating his feelings with words, so he uses his guitar instead ! And dont we all understand him !
Absolutely 👍🏽
Fancy giving Joe Satriani 'Flying in a blue dream' live a first time reaction to?
I’ll check that out.👍🏽
Him and a Dr. was giving meads to calm a upset stomach before a performanmce and comparing it to a time he was a kid and sick. the band was against drugs
Yes ma'am. They were on drugs....and so we're we!! 😂😂😂😎🇺🇸
Very Perceptive on the Lyrics...It Was about Being Drugged before a show due to illness. Turned out to be Hepatitis.
Someone under the influence of drogs, can't create this MUSIC!!
Watch the movie….Pink Floyd. The Wall
Okay, I definitely have to watch that .
Not my favorite solo at the PULSE concert-tour that is on KEEP TALKING !
FIRST TIME ?????? YOU LIVE IN A CAVE ???
Yes I live in a cave , thank you !!!!!!!!!

Take your time and see the movie The Wall, and your answers around the text will be clear. Saw the Pulse concert in Copenhagen in 94'. Epic.
Okay I’ll do that. Thank you 🙏
