      Cycling Weekly would love to see a video on training to get back to fitness after a break. I've just had chemotherapy and I'm on the path back to racing this year, so would find it really useful as I have some big goals for this year. I really enjoyed the video you did on TT training...

      I would love to see the effects of the corticosteroid Triamcinolone, the therapeutic use exemption used by Bradley Wiggins in '12. It would be very interesting to see a series of tests before and repeated after it's use to have a clearer understanding what the advantages, if any, actually are. Or take twice the permitted amount of salbutamol :)

    Hey there Cycling weekly. thanks a ton for this video explaining the difference in how you attain your funding, i have been a long time viewer and now finally a SUBSCRIBER, and this video answered a question i have pondered for quite some time.
    I would certainly like to see a video on the major differences of track bikes to road bikes, as well as the dynamic difference (if any) in between their riders physique , track and roadie.

    Lets have a video about marginal gains - put together a load of kit like ceramic bearings, oversized jockey wheels, latex tubes and all that and see how much difference it makes all together. Just how many watts could those London executive MAMILs save, being the only ones who can afford them?

    • @bitchoflivingblah
      @bitchoflivingblah 6 лет назад

      I suspect many of those marginal gains overlap with each other and you'd gain a lot less than you'd think. The other thing is all the marginal gains are tested in isolation, plugging them into a bike might make the whole system slower, therefore you'd have to build your own specific monster, the parts wouldn't necessarily work on other bikes.
      As for people riding expensive bikes, we could say the same for cars, each to his or her own.

    • @carnsoaks1
      @carnsoaks1 6 лет назад

      Tramadol, gives marginal gains, but i do not advise using it... nor subbing to this philosophy, unless so-pro

    Thanks for the frank discussion about generating revenue for CW. I found it very informative. So as someone who's only been cycling seriously for a couple of years I'd like to see a video about where you, Ollie, and perhaps others at CW came from; how you got started. The transition from casual rider or "fred" to a passionate cyclist, the challenges and hops along the way.

    I’d like to see you guys pluck an absolute beginner to cycling and make a series of videos on how you guys train him till he’s competent enough for local races. Will give us all insights on how to improve and be able to showcase gear/places - which may generate revenue stream for your channel!

    Good video and I think Ollie, you’ve turned round the CW videos for the better compared to last year with the ‘dynamic duo’ awfulness and weird 2cam set up. Good on the explanation of revenue. All I and many want is transparency and the clearer and more obvious the better

    With the Winter Olympics coming up, could you do an aerotest of a rider in a speedskating suit?
    I would be willing to supply the suit. You can have it in any size, as long as it is M.
    To the uninitiated: in speedskating there are no rules against "coated materials" which should mean that the suits there would be faster than a normal speed suit for TTs

    Hi Ollie- as someone that lives in London I'd be interested in a video that looks at how to make the most of training in urban environments. I don't always want to use the turbo and getting into the country lanes is not always easy, so something that looks at efficient training for city dwellers would be great. Thanks!

    I'd love to see a video on how to choose a cycling discipline you're likely to do well in. I've seen the power profile chart from Dr. Andy Coggan where you see what is a good W/Kg for various durations... but translating that into a decision isn't very straight forward. For example, if I have a pretty good 1 minute power ... should I try criteriums vs. road races or time trials? Thanks for the great content Ollie!

    Being a bike mechanic myself I believe something interesting would be to the effect of online sales such as wiggle on brick and mortar bike shops. Many shops are relying more and more on labor than retail products since most of the time you can get products for less than what the shop would pay cost for. Many shops are closing and think it would be a great idea to interview owners/managers at bike shops

    I know you don’t tend to step too heavily into racing, but I’d love to see someone make a comprehensive intro to the history and current culture of women’s professional cycling. I’ve loved seeing other producer starting to shine a brighter light on the scene, but I don’t quite yet have the context to fully appreciate how exciting these races can be.
    Or..... I’d also love to hear your two cents on the road+ scene. Compass tires have been around a while with their 650b 42mm tires on custom and vintage rando bikes, but recently 650b has been making its way more to the gravel side with a wider 47mm “standard”. I dream of one day having a disc brake bike that fits 28mm race wheels and just fits a 650b 42mm tire for dry gravel roads/ lazier club rides.
    Keep up the content! Love the stuff.

    I would like to see a presentors challange, which every presentor gets X amount of cash to buy and upgrade the best bike. Like GCN's video, but thr bikes get a reveiw for the components, the story behind (frame/company or the seller itself), the abillities (a bike for climbing, for flat races...). Like Pimp My Ride but for bikes.

    Ollie, that was very informative. For a RUclips ad, do you make any more money if we let the whole ad play (instead of clicking on Skip) or if we click through to the ad itself?

    • @cyclingweekly
      @cyclingweekly  6 лет назад

      The amount of money from the ad is constant per each view, but this is also dependant on IP address. You can't just watch the ad 50 times on repeat and make 'more' money because RUclips will detect your IP as being registered to have watched that ad already.

    Being in the trade, what I hear a lot is people are unsure where to go to buy the products that are right for them. No shop does everything in depth. The IBD is the best place for "adding value" or explaining what the differences in kit are. More premium sales mean more money at the manufacturers and distributors, with the obvious knock on for advertising

    Make more videos explaining how to build your own training program from scratch. Everything from mileage, how many training days, intensity, nutrition, pre and post ride routines. I would be very interested in comparison of pedal dynamics of three different rides. 1) On cheap trainer without or with very small flywheel (the one with bad road feel). 2) On some high end trainer with "better" road feel like Tacx Neo or Wahoo Kickr. 3) From riding outside. All the rides with 2 or 3 differet wattages. Would be very interesting to see whether you can see where the differences are from the pedal dynamics. There should be different shape of torque diagram during 1 crank revolution. Thanks for consideratio. Keep the good work!

    I'm one of those people who hates ads in videos and websites and generally will block them. Here's why: most ads are either irrelevant or spammy/scammy. If people advertised cool relevant products or awesome deals I'd gladly watch. But generally it seems like ads just want to rip me off!

    • @cyclingweekly
      @cyclingweekly  6 лет назад

      Google algorithms mean that adverts are keyed to specific search terms saved for each user, or their previous browsing history detected from their account, not just on other RUclips videos but also websites searched through google. In this instance, you may have watched or read something food-related in the past that Google has saved into memory for your account? (that's just a guess)

    I have some suggestions:
    1) test different wheel profiles from a same brand (for example zipp 202 / 303 / 404 and 808) to determine the real impact each profile has on flat an on a steep climb
    2) test the difference between an aero bike vs standard from the same brand on a real (and big) circuit that has flats, steep climbs and descends to see the real difference on each session and the total difference. We see a lot of comparisons but on a very limited and controlled environment, hard to find something that can really be extrapolated to a real race/event/ride.

    You could perhaps make videos on: beginner crit racing (what to expect)
    how to efficiently train w/ power (ftp, zones etc)
    Winter Olympic special? (Downhill MTB)
    commuter special eps?
    videos focusing on AUDAX’s would be great too - maybe do some specific events?
    Also, as someone from the U.K., I’d love to see cycling channels like this explore the U.K. more in its videos - so maybe a mini-series of ‘Cycling Weekly: in...’ Warwickshire or somewhere, would be a good advert for British cycling.
    Keep up all the good work, I love the videos !!

    Great topic choice for a video would be the analysis of FTP numbers on a climb, flat, downhill(around -1 to -2%)as well as an indoor FTP. Should a person do an FTP test for each of the above and adapt training zones accordingly to the road terrain? My main question is aimed at a downhill as it is much harder to hold your FTP(acquired by an FTP test on a +1 to +2% drag) on such terrain.
    Great video as always and keep the good work up!

    In my current stage of life, its challenging to buy new toys and keep a budget. I'd like to know what you would look for if you were to purchase a used bike? Really need a video on which is faster - 650b or 700c road wheels. Could 650b be the next big thing in road cycling now that aerodynamics is becoming king?

    Some good ideas here, but you should do a cost-benefit analysis for a different range of configurations on a mid- or entry-level racing bike to see if the extra dough is buying real gains.

    I’d like to see how much difference components make. So same frame and wheels but different gears and finishing kit, maybe cheaper aluminium vs carbon, 105 vs dura ace di2 etc....

    Do a video mapping out your ride from rest stop to rest stop as if you were a tourist not knowing where you are and showing us how well the auto mapping goes versus the routes you would take.

    Weird and wonderful lightweight tech - and: is it any good? I've seen stuff around like Aerolite Pedals, Recon Cassett, Adam Hansens shoes, that kind of thing.

    I would really like to see what it takes to review a bike, what kind of off-camera work is needed and how much effort you actually have to put into it (I assume it is much more than is shown in review articles/videos.)

    Would love to see how to a review of the Bryton Cycling GPS computer. Heard a lot about it but haven't had the courage to walk away from my trusty old Garmin!

    Thanks for the explanation about funds, Ollie, everybody has to make a living. And in San Francisco in the Sixties, a friend of my father had this to say about his auto racing pursuits: "This ain't fo' FUNNY, this is fo' MONEY." And that guy was a character whose nickname was Weird Harold. Maybe it was a beatnik thing. And I like all of your features, can't think of anything to cover, except for maybe some juicy gossip. Maybe call it Cycling Chat.

    I’d like to see some content on riding in my part of the world, New Zealand. We have a great variety of riding and it’s a great opportunity to leave the British winter behind.

    I’d like to see you do a video against the GCN boys, points to be awarded for different events, one with the most points at the end wins. Events could include a tandem race, hill climb, relay around a velodrome or circuit.

    I'd like to see a simple video on the usages of road bikes vs gravel bike vs CX bike. Not in angles and geometry but in plain English. The pros and cons of each bike in relation to each other.

    How about a video about cycling etiquette in different countries. Considering how many people back home are not even greeting one, I would love to know how you can be polite/on the safe side as a cyclist around the globe

    Loved my Rudy Projects up until the point where our new puppy got a hold of them and, yes, ate them. Puppy's ok. RPs unfortunately did not survive. :( Would love to see a video about innovative tech in cycling kit.

    I’d like to see videos of race analysis of some of the greatest strategy or upsets in the history of bicycle racing. Do make it a bit like story telling, with some comment also on the mentality of the riders or teams during that race It would be educational and I think will also create more awareness / appreciation to sport

    Thanks for the vid. I'd like to see a video on different brands of cycling computer and what they offer. So many people use garmin (myself included) and they are almost universally regarded as the standard, but I can't help feeling there's more to the picture. Currently after a Wahoo element Bolt...or maybe mere mortals can never be happy with what they've got?

    I’d like to see which pieces or winter kit handle sweat best as I am a sweater rider and freeze to death on winter rides after and hour! I’ve even tried wearing a wetsuit top to stay warm on rides and although I stay warm sweat drips out of the bottom of the top and out of the sleeves soaking my crotch and my bar tape!!!
