      It's almost like an early 60s Fox body, reminds me of a Fairmont. Same sort of suspension front and rear, unibody, 4 lug, super light weight. Sad these y bodies are sort of orphans.

    QUESTION: I'm looking to get a little more horsepower out of my 63 Buick. It's ALL factory stock, the engine's original. Buick 215CI. V8.
    WHAT Heads can I get that will fit the factory engine ?
    And thank you, very much.
    I appreciate your help.

    • @mr.roddersneighborhood2740
      @mr.roddersneighborhood2740  5 месяцев назад +1

      The only head I’m aware of that will bolt on the 215 that can increase power is the TA performance late model rover head. It does not have the extra bolt holes for the bottom row of head bolt holes. I’m not entirely sure of them directly bolting on and working correctly, I’ve never tried it myself. Check with TA performance. Your compression ratio may be unmanageable since these heads have a 27cc combustion chamber.

      Thank you for the information. I'll definitely looks into them and keep gathering information. It's too nice of a car to change to much. But I would play around with interchangeables so I could roll back to Factory Original. I need to get a project car so I have more options and can hop it up without worrying about hurting the value of a survivor. I appreciate your time. Ty very much.

    Will the 8 3/4 fly with SEGA? Their online rulebook file sorta reads like they want a gm axle in the gm car, although what's done to it isn't as important. That might not be correct, though.

    • @mr.roddersneighborhood2740
      @mr.roddersneighborhood2740  Год назад +3

      It's fine in the rules. It just has to have an era correct reared and it's not brand specific. Just No Billet pieces or Fab 9 housings allowed.

    • @mr.roddersneighborhood2740

    • @TwinTurboSkylark
      @TwinTurboSkylark Год назад

      Nice, I run a 4.56 gear, car is 2980 pounds and 2004R trans. Makes boost on the 350 by 3000 rpm, 3800 stall with triple disk lockup.

    • @mr.roddersneighborhood2740
      @mr.roddersneighborhood2740  Год назад

      @@TwinTurboSkylark you would be better served with a higher reared gear, like a 3.23 or 3.42 to load those turbos sooner. A 4.56 is too low for a turbo application and would improve drivability, performance and mileage with a much more turbo friendly rear gear. Of course this all depends upon the tire height, but you would likely need 32" tall or taller rear tires on that 4.56 to get the best out of that combo. The 200-4R is my favorite OD Buick transmissions with that first gear not being super low like the 700-r4.

    • @TwinTurboSkylark
      @TwinTurboSkylark Год назад

      Hi, yes it runs a 32” tall by 20” wide tire so it needs so gear in there. The turbos are sized so that it gets full boost before the converter flash rpm so the gearing isn’t needed to help load the turbos and spoil them. If I went to larger turbos then a 4.10 gear could help spool them I’m sure. My current delay is having a pro port the alum heads for Max effort. It’s painful having the short block with girdle, billet crank etc sitting here waiting.
