Brazen shooting in central Hamilton caught on camera

- CHCH News has obtained exclusive video of a brazen shooting in central Hamilton.
Officers were called to the area of Barton St. and Oak Ave. around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Police say 23-year-old Donovan Hines was found suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital where he remains in serious but stable condition. He is facing seven firearms-related charges, including discharging a firearm with recklessness.
A surveillance camera on a nearby home captured the shocking incident unfold.
A black, four-door vehicle can be seen slowly pulling up near the side patio of Allure Lounge on Oak Ave.
The driver gets out and approaches a vehicle in the parking lot.
Suddenly, the driver fires multiple shots into the vehicle through the open driver’s side door and runs back to his car.
The man targeted in the parked vehicle then grabs his own gun and fires several shots through his windshield in the direction of the fleeing vehicle.
Police are still trying to identify the shooter who fled the scene. They are searching for a 2007 or 2008 black Pontiac G5 and a man between 5’10 and 6 ‘5 in height.
Detectives believe this was a targeted incident.
That guy knows exactly why he was shot and by who, quit playing.

Once the threat has stopped (in this case, that happened when the initial shooter got in his car and hauled ass away from the victim), you cannot lawfully shoot. Every prosecutor in North America would be licking his chops and filing charges against BOTH of these people after viewing that video.

Yep. I'd drop the "reckless" charge as he is every bit as accurate as your average police officer. I dont know what most of the charges are, but I'd bet most are bs designed to give DAs multiple charges against a person for the same action.

He even fired his illegal gun blindly through his windshield. He could have hit an innocent bystander. He should never got out of prison for armed robbery. Why is the victim being charged for defending his life and trying stop an attempted murder suspect?
It gets confusing sometimes. They might say, the assailant was fleeing and thus no longer a threat. That the victim then shot at the fleeing assailant, perhaps charging him with attempted murder as well. Then, because they don't like any gun play, they might charge him with unlawful/reckless discharge (or similar), and as many other charges as possible. Why? They don't like violence. They especially don't like guns or gun violence. Besides the violence and disregard for live, the sad thing is, these stupid crimes cast all firearms owners in a bad light. All the sportsmen, the target shooters, the competitors, and collectors are at risk because to behavior like this, and it's likely neither of these men are licensed to possess these firearms.

@@ericjones3221 Try watching it on a larger LCD computer monitor so you can see his gun in the windshield. You can easily see the trajectory of the bullets as you line up the barrel of the gun with the holes. They are all level and follow the direction of the fleeing car.
This is just awful. I have nephews that I had to wrestle to the floor and take guns away from them. I had to tell them we don't do this. We avoid trouble with all of our might. We don't run to it. I've had to incorporate other family members to help me. You have to Pray day and nite people. Avoid trouble as much as you can. Live to see another day people.

25 years is a life sentence for murder and out in 18 (if they behave) in Canada where this video is from. So I wouldn't count on those kinds of sentences anytime soon.
