Then he was chased through the streets by a man trying to shoot him with a handgun.

The man is correct. If you let this kind of thing slide, you'll end up with places like Vancouver. Public safety is a priority. Elderly and children use public spaces and you can't have dangerous people on the streets.

This reminds me of the Arab kid that got killed trying to defend an elderly man from two thugs a couple of years ago. He died for nothing, cause most of the people involved in the case got away with a slap in the wrist. This guy was lucky and got away with just some injuries. All he had to do is call 911 and let them deal with the situation.

I too was the victim of an attack defending a dog , the police arrived to witness them running into me with their car after the first attack . world is getting crazier but I would do it again as couldn't live with myself if I turned away from that kind of situation, we need more vigilantes on patrol.

Kinda sickening to hear that speaking as a Hmiltonian myself knowing that i do travel downtown from time to time and knowing that something like that could happen . Remember when that drug deal gone bad happened around Lime Ridge Mall was over the news and funny thing was i was heading there and the other side by where Toys r Us was was blocked off and a year later gunshots rang out in that area . A little too close to home for my liking . My brother was telling about a few houses down from a friend he was staying got shot up and the guy who was living there almost died . Don't want to see it where i have to have to get protection or carry something just to walk out my front door . Lived in Hamilton since birth but it feels like it just gets worse by the year .

Notice he says "the guy chasing me had a loaded gun with the safety off ready to empty the CLIP into my back" . Who says that? How would he know it is loaded if there were no shots fired? How would he know if there is a safety on this particular model of handgun? Referring to a "clip" shows you he doesn't know anything about firearms. Then, near the end of the interview we learn he plans to run for city council to tackle violence. I'm not saying it smells like Jessie Smolliet, but something sure is pungent about this story.

They will give them a 50$ fine after 6 remands in court. nothing will be done about this. The justice system is lame. The offender is probably already home at his moms house freeloading again.
That's usually the case when there's no witnesses as the evidence is based solely off of hearsay or stuff like video footage, and not to mention when there isn't a hand gun involved. The crown would rather give them a dropped charge in exchange for at least getting a charge and thus getting the defendant priors. With this, we have a willing, third party witness unrelated to the dispute who witnessed the assault, and then was assaulted himself. Add in the handgun, and I'd say these fuckers are looking at aggravated assault, probably attempted murder, and for sure a possession of restricted firearms charge, all of which are indictable offenses with sentences ranging 5-10 years.
If they were white the ball would be dropped on them though of course. And who could forget when the world went mental over a white nurse trying to rightfully get the ebike she purchased. Then when everyone found out she was in the right (shocker) no one talked about the story anymore. How people would even just kneejerk assume otherwise is crazy. Cause you know, pregnant white women who just came off a 10 hour nursing shift are well known to go up to black men and start trying to steal a bike from them, those darn racist karens!

Don't even assume they will be convicted if it's a first offence and they can afford a "good" lawyer who claims they were provoked etc. Matt will maybe be accused of wrongdoing himself to deter such reckless behaviour etc. Courts routinely blame the victims and maybe there's something they don't like about Matt trying to be "heroic" etc.
