For a comparison with regards to the steepness of this road grade: The major US interstate highways are generally no more than at a seven percent grade. A percentage % grade is measured as a one-foot elevation rise, or height increase, for every 100 feet of linear, or horizonal, distance. Meaning this hill climb rose 18 feet for 100 feet of horizontal distance.

For being a very isolated region, I checked on fuel prices for vehicles, as they could be sky-high due to the transportation distance for delivery. I found a January 2020 price list published by the Canadian Province of Nunavut. Diesel price per liter, in Canadian dollars, was around $1.17; near equivalent to $4.68 gallon US dollars; which as of this writing in February 2021, makes the Baffin Island fuel price anywhere from 40 to 80 percent higher than what's found in the 'states. The cost of the Baffin Island diesel surprised me when compared to the European countries prices as of this writing, ranging from a low of 0.99 Euros in Austria/Poland; to the high of 1.45 Euros in Norway.
