This is pretty interesting side story in One Year War from original Gundam tv series anime. You mostly see this conflict from a side of Zeon soldiers except for a brief undercover operation where they are sneaking into the earth federation base to steal a new federation mass produced mobile suits (they forgot to call Char for assistance, so it didn't go well). They are trying to vilify at the beginning RX-78(G)E Gundam EX as a white devil, but when you think that Zeon is responsible for half of humanity extinction on earth due to Operation British (they literally drop the colony on earth to destroy main Earth Federation base, but it missed and landed in Sydney) they you start to question yourself do those Zeon soldiers know that they are the bad guys, since they committed such war crimes.

The colony drop was common knowledge so they would have known. The whole show is in-universe Zeonic revisionism. The ending also gives the joke away if you know what happens in the future. Being written like a cheesy American war movie is intentional. It's a big in-joke for superfans. Starship Troopers played straight.

Visual I thought it was great. I like WWII feel but with modern tech. My point of contention are tactics employed and the DEI undertones.

Can you expand on the DEI undertones? I didn't catch a whiff.

@@GundamExplained It’s the erasure of white male roles. Making them either reckless, cruel , or non existent while making the other males needing constant encouragement or to be kept in line. Replaced with the no nonsense strong females that make horrific tactical decisions like charging a checkpoint/Roadblock with tanks in a light to medium armored vehicle. Or the unlikable personalities to convy toughness to name a few. The point that it is fiction, animated , and 2024 isn’t lost on me.

Really enjoyed it, the story was good. Was curious if Gundam pilot was Amuro but don't think so. Curious how it fits in the story canon. Lowball hoped to see Char appear near the end.
The night battling with trees teasing the gundam actually made me think of how they do the same with Godzilla in that side.

What's interesting is during this time the Federation is doing mass physicals to find how who is a newtype so they can "use them" as weapons. This story line happens in the OG series, and specifically during the movie version part II.

@@GundamExplained nice, appreciate the lore details. Familiar with anime but not heavy on lore. Can't wait for your analysis videos and the spoiler review video you said was next week.

So if next week would be the spoilers version review for Requiem For Vengeance, it's be cool to see what others in the comment section (maybe even Discord) have to say about the series. Obviously I have my own thoughts and opinions but I can't share them here because it'd be spoilers.

Man, I turned it off 15minutes into the first episode. It looked and felt like someone took a video game, removed the gameplay and put it online as a series. The dialog was bad and charecter's expressions felt empty. Maybe it gets better, but I thought we left weird motion capture, quasi realism animation behind after the Appleseed series in the late 2000s. Either do it live action, stylize the 3D or go back to 2D.

But this is normal for the technology in UC Gundam. War in the Pocket, 08th MS Team (which this took inspiration from). Heat Hawks/Swords/Rods can go up against a Gundam. Even in this show the beam sabers were clashing with the heat melee weapons.

@@linchester8464from the first time we see the Gouf in 0079 it cuts through the Gundam with its heat blade like butter. That marks the moment Zeon’s suits match Gundams. Every win the Gundam gets for the rest of the original series is a skill difference rather than technological superiority. I’m glad they stuck with something lore accurate instead of having the Zaku’s gun take it out or something else illogical.

Don't try to compare Gundam Warfare to Real Life Warfare. Real Life Warfare is A Lot Worse and rarely noble.

Gundam is fictional. It tries to capture the horrors of war for the TV broadcasting. Of course Gundam isn't allowed to show the 1:1 horrors of war. You can compare Gundam to war. You can compare anything to anything. Comparing lego cars to a real car doesn't mean the Lego car is a reap life car.

One thing i dont like, Those zeon look less zeon. We all know Zeon are adaptation of Ww2 german. The suits, uniform, style, cars , etc but if GRFV it just Americanizing those zeon. Plus, its going woke with those colors & woman MC . Well its netflix so no surprise. Less of character's developement. 0080 War in pocket have 6 episodes but it more satisfying and wholesome.
That EX gundam is so fugly AF. EZ8 look great but EX not atleast to my personal preference. EX more like Jason from friday 13.

Netflix has no say in the show's story. The Zeon outfits were the classic Zeon outfits, we just had a handful of pilots with newer looking pilot suits. And woke with colors & women? What does that mean? I'll feature this comment in a video, so feel free to go into detail. BTW, you seem mad bro, sorry about that.
