Awesome video Kevin. Great idea.
Thank you WIG TV
Another great idea you’ll get it figured out oh buddy thanks for the video enjoyed your friend G-man
Thanks G-man.
Pretty cool 😎👍
Thank you William.
Those are going to turn out real nice once you get them mounted into the wood blanks.
Looking forward to seeing the finished product.
If I ever get a forstner bit.
another way could be putting that thing in an akku drill, rest your hand on a piece of wood and let it run steady on the grinder. Or water cooled stone grinder.Or use the Lathe that you have?
Great idea.
Thanks for the comment.
That is an awesome idea. I have tons of old hole saws & I have been trying to figure out a way to repurpose them.
It works Thanks Rick
Great to see what you are up to again Kevin. Did you think of using the new knife sharpening jig to dress that cutting edge ? Drill and tap for a couple 5/16 bolts with the heads cut off that will be striking out an inch or so. They can be removed and replaced as necessary That really does work nicely my friend.
Use a piece of sacrificial leather underneath -- or a piece of scrap rubber conveyor belt, or heavy craft foam, or heavy cardboard on top of a kitchen cutting board to protect your cutting edges.
Great idea thank you Shirley.
Great idea, maybe you can heat treat the punch to make it harder.
Maybe I will try that thanks Frank.
Looks like a great idea, the hole punch & the coaster idea, maybe just spot weld the cup to the thick plate using the existing holes, instead of using wood under the leather than damages the cup edge find some thicker leather or double some up to put under the leather you are cutting.
Good idea thanks Numa.
Thick rubber under it would be good, maybe a piece cut off an old tire? Can you rig it up in your arbor press?
@@toddmccarter45 thanks for the idea Todd good one.
@@toddmccarter45 I don't think the Arbor press is strong enough.
Looks like it works very well! I wonder if a thick plastic cutting board would roll the edges any less?
Thanks good idea OrionsAnvil I will give it a try.
Hey Kevin, great idea. I was hoping you would put it in your arbor press. Have you thought of trying to harden the cutter? I was also thinking you could use another hole cutter to cut part way through your board and then the cutter would just go into the grove and not the wood. Just a thought.
Good ideas thanks Ron.
Another great creation. If your going to sell the coasters please let me know. Thanks for sharing.
Will do for sure Gerard thank you.
Kevin, here's an idea, get a Commercial/Restaurant Grade Biscuit Cutter made out of Stainless Steel with The Loop Over Handle That attaches to The Cutter Ring on Opposite Sides and a Light weight Brass Hammer With Either a Medium Hardness Piece of Wood Like a Butcher Block or a Thick Polymer Food Service Cut Board. You The Stainless Steel Cutter Ring is Nearly Razor Sharp To Begin With and You Wouldn't have to hit it Hard at All and I Believe it Would Cut Through The Leather... I was Thinking about a Hydraulic Press but I don't know that'll Work,,, unless you Have a Super Sharp Edge Around the Whole Cut Ring or it'll Probably Just Press in To A Point And Stop, or It May Just Cut Though in Places and Possibly Make Jagged Edges but I'm Just Guessing that would be the outcome
Why didn't you put it in a drill to sharpen ?
That's a excellent idea, the sharpened part would be more consistent
I probably could have put it in my lathe too but I don't always think of that I never said I was smart lol thanks Charles good idea.
👍
Thank you Pete.
Clicker press and plastic kitchen cutting board is what will work
Thanks for the tip!
NICE!!! :>)>
Thank you HemanSr.
Can you put some JB Weld between the steel plate and the cutter?
Thanks for the idea.
Try a piece of leather as a sacrificial piece perhaps a 1/4"
Good idea thanks
Can't wait to see these being made! Are you going to sell them? If so, how many would be in a set and how much would they be? I'd be interested in having another Kevin original! Thank you for sharing!
Me too.
I hope one day I can do this Paul I don't know how to do pricing.
@@Robinson-Homestead theres two schools of thought there. Charge what you think people would pay, or to keep from ripping yourself off figure out what your time is worth and charge for time and material.
Could probably use a hydraulic press if you have one.
I have that would work for sure thanks.
Let me know how much I would like 2.
Video coming soon you can see how they turn out.
