- @ballisticaviation (Luke C) is back for day 3 of the NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits to talk with Shield Arms about some of their latest products and services. Today Seth shares Shield Arms' new ROC (Revolver Optics Conversion) mount - a no-mill option that easily attaches to your J-Frame revolvers (like the S&W 442) giving you an instant optics solution for iron-sighted revolvers. Shield Arms is also showcasing their new Split Rig - an easy on-and-off chest rig perfect for shooting prone, and finally their Grip Chop service for the Glock 48 and 43X. This service shaves off just enough of the grip to fit the new Shield Arms 10-round flush fit mag made specifically for their Grip Chop - Did they just invent the Glock 43X/48 SF?

I always wanted a Glock 43, but I wanted to spend a lot more money & have a lot more steps to get it done, so this is exactly what I need.
A G43 with more rounds than a revolver......
Get a 43 and get it MOS or get a 43x and get the grip chopped....
@@porkbunassassin2295you can literally buy the frames and slides separately you just gave him like the most expensive way to do it.
Just get a psa micro dagger. I bought one not too long ago and so far i love it, its my new edc.
@@captaincannabis3321 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
a g43x with a shorter grip. why didnt glock think of this!?
Yea the g43 doesn’t accept 43x magazines though.
Shadow systems did!
@Acethadon1234 z9 mags are just a +3 extension, it’s quite long. This is 10 rounds that is the same size as the g43’s 6 rounds.
That's gonna be the Glock 50
Become they can't just use a regular steel mag
‘We haven’t weighed it’. Slightly worse than ‘I don’t know’
Joe Bob would have weighed it, then written that number down.
They weighed it. They're scared to tell us that it's overweight.😂
come for the cut down G43x, stay for the split chest rig
Ur m o m s chest rig is better
get a molle 2 LBV instead. $15 and does the same shit.
Luke C is killing it! Great hosting man.
Hey hey people, Sseth here..
Lmao, love that dudes channel.
They should sell the lowers instead of having to send your 43x in. To each their own though👍

@@Survivinglife871 They are already a firearms manufacturer. So not an issue.
@@XDWX The 43x and 48 are popular firearms, why try to sell someone an entirely new firearm when it's easier to have the few who want to modify it to that extent come to you? That's a big business gamble, and not a smart one. Truth be told, I don't see this service lasting very long.
They sell the whole firearm apparently
You should just buy a 43 instead of destroying a 43X.

Good luck finding a holster for that J-Frame.
Your mom has a holster for it
It fits in the City Special

Their price is great when they don't break or die easily and to say a modular gun with plenty of support to configure it any way you want is "outdated" then the AR15, a nearly 70 year old design, is "outdated". It's not the iPhone, that would be Sig's guns in general; flawed from factory, QC issues galore, priced out the ass because you're dumb enough to buy it anyways, they release 15 models of the same thing but they change cosmetics just enough to keep you buying more, and it's the hot fashion trend

Honestly I wonder how long it'll be before someone makes a new properly optics ready revolver. Not just a hodge-podged adapter onto an existing frame. Seems like the top strap of revolvers is generally much more narrow than that of optics cut pistols.
I think you and me are in the minority on that. I had a holosun 507 on a Dan Wesson 15-2 for a while using an adapter. I doubt big blue or Colt would ever do it. Taurus may be our only hope if their optics ready revolvers sell well.
Revolvers like the chiappa Rhino have an entirely unusable and unnecessary chunk of metal over the barrel, removing or hollowing that area out would allow for lights, lasers, or a decently sized optic to be mounted under the top of the revolver.
Taurus has quite a few toro optic ready revolvers. They also have a new sight mount out for the mid size revolvers that allow a rmrsc optic.
s&w 327 WR jerry miculek edition...just saw a video it looks sweet
So far from the factory ive only seen taurus do optics ready and a super expensive company i cant remember the name of
Great to see Shield Arms repping Montana at the show. Had the grip chop service done on my 43X MOS, picked it up last week. In hand it feels great, like a slim G26. Also got a mag with the grip sleeve. Plan to get it to the range this week. Thanks guys.
*Update - took it to the range today. Both S-10 mags worked flawlessly, locked back after last shot. Shot one full mag each, then five rounds in each. Also used S-15 mag with the sleeve, flawless and no issues.
For those questioning "why", more capacity than 43 in roughly the same size as 43. Also has abilty to use 15-round mags in same setup, and feels same in hand as the original 43x grip. The flexibility and greater concealability is great. I am happy with it.
@@hankwilliams-hx9wwI understand the analogy but your way off. You cannot compare a $500 gun to a Corvette with an engine swap. They are nothing like each other, especially price wise
@@hankwilliams-hx9ww slimmer gun, narrower gun AND a rail fora light
@@hankwilliams-hx9wwit’s a cr920 at home.
@@civicsr2coolthis!!! I have four shadow systems the mr920 elite the cr920 elite the cr920p and the cr920x. This seems stupid just get the cr920 can get foundation for like 500 or elite for low as 600 used trust that.
I’m putting a dot on my freaking j frame. This is gonna be sick
Vurwappen(?) had a product allegedly for sale that was a Glock 43 lower that took P365 magazines and a mag catch. I was waiting for it to upgrade my G43 but it never materialized. Ended up just buying the P365.
This is basically that idea finally come to life, by people who likely never knew about the Vurwappen project in the first place.
Vurwappen also had a Gen X frame that could swap from a G19 to a G45 configuration and could accept a Gen 3 or Gen4/5 slide while using Gen 4 internals and mag release. Cool concept, for some reason the project died.
The reason I got the 43x was bc of the grip length 😂😂😂
How does that salesman not know the weight on the j frame mount? People carry j frames because they weigh so little they forget they are carrying them. Add more weight and you enter the territory of many other options better than an airweight j frame.
So essentially J-frame carriers are idiots. Time to man up and stop obsessing about irrelevant shit.
I held it, it’s negligible
Good stuff, G26 profile with the narrow frame.
That optic mount would make more sense on K an L Frame guns.
Yes, making a small j frame so bulky is pointless.
I want to believe this will be reliable, I want to believe. Or it could be a good way to ruin perfectly reliable gun.
Bingo. Tfb TV James Reeves literally just released a video a few weeks ago about the things you need to stop doing that screw up your glock.
To me one of the biggest ones is cutting and stifling the frame. Gaston Glock knew what he was doing and changing the Dynamics of the polymer is ridiculous.
Folks need to just stop pussyfooting and buy a 26. All your troubles will go away.
@@Arcahnslight THIS!
@@Arcahnslight completely agree. I never thought I would go for the 26th and I bought like four different Glocks and got rid of all of them before I finally got a 26 and realized that was the ticket.
43x grip circumference is almost perfect for a lot of people, like myself
thanks to all the members of the merchants guild.
I like the partisan chest rig.
So…its a 43?
That holds 10 rounds flush and can feed all their larger mags
43 is obsolete with this. Now you can have a chopped 43x to replace it and have your other 43x for 15 rounds.
Exactly. This is completely pointless. They make 10 round mags for the 43.
@@civicsr2cool that doesn't make sense. You sound like there are two guns involved.
@@XDWX there are.. 43 and 43x are not the same frame. 43x chopped is a slim g26, a g43 ten rounds is LONGER than a regular 43x..
so the difference between a glock 43 and 43x is .79 inches in height. And your thinking people are going to "chop" roughly .75 inches off the 43x for $170 or dang near half the price of just buying a 43 and having both.... Why not just make the mag compatible with the existing 43. I mean I guess I can understand the 48. But people could just put a 43 frame on a 48 right. IDK this makes literally no sense to me. I mean, other than to lock people in to a magazine that is only compatible with their $170 chopped grip that no longer, properly, works with any other mag.
the last part you sais is 100 percent the reason.
The G43 frame is slightly slimmer than the 43x/48 frame and will not fit 10 rounds flush. This will give you 10 rounds flush in the same footprint as the 6 rounds flush of a 43
It's a clever way to enhance conceal ability while increasing capacity.
No
Just... buy a 26 or a base 43. But hey, its a free country. Spend your money how you wish.
I tried gen 1, gen 2, and gen 3 shield arms mags in 2 different Glock 43x's and they would always jam or fall out of the gun. every time i sent them back to shield arms they would say "they were out of spec" I personally don't trust this company. that's ridiculous.
So it's a Glock Shield Plus? (with a worse trigger)
I just grip chopped my 43x to accept cr920 mags and mag release. You all took way too damn long with the S10.
Whom do you recommend to do the chop for the CR920 mags? Any reliability issues/round count to report?
@@champy1210 Do it yourself! It’s just super thin plastic. The shield grip chop here includes an aluminum mag well, that’s why it’s so expensive.
@@civicsr2cool You certainly could chop your frame yourself. Our grip chop service is performed on a cnc. You receive the chop, 2 magazines, steel mag catch, and a mag well
Hey hey people, Sseth here
I absolutely hate the revolver with the red dot!
Been waiting years for someone to do this to a 43X. I had no idea anyone other than me thought this was a good idea.
You should look the shadow systems cr920 👍
Wrong
@@civicsr2cool that’s a good point
So a company called Vurwappen had a G43 frame that takes P365 mags. It was announced a long time ago but the 80% frame rules sorta killed their motivation.
Its a great idea, and this does the same thing from a different direction.
that red dot mount would be awesome on a ruger sp101 if you could make it work.
We will take it into consideration! We are looking to do as many different frames and optics footprints as possible.
@@ShieldArmsRUclips so awesome to hear from you and that you are willing to take suggestions. I sure hope you can make it happen.
Once again Glock proving to be the best…. Because of aftermarket innovation.
Would be nice if there was a good co-witnessing option for mounting optics to revolvers.
This is actually great. The grip angle of the 43x/19/17 is way better than the 43/26
Sounds like a shadow system cr920 with more steps and voided warranty.
I hope the Ruger LCR isn't far behind
Hey look we made a Glock 26.
@1:25: who the heck makes a product for carrying but doesn't weigh it??? 🤦♂
Damn a 43x cut down to a 10 round mag that can reload to a 20 round mag!? I mean I thought the 26 came out 20+ years ago
Hear me out. Glock 26x aka double stacked 43x.
Why would they not weigh a carry oriented optic mount
All i have to say is just why do that with a 43x? Just get a 43 ffs
I really wish they would make a higher capacity flush fit Glock 26 magazine.
My understanding is that the Glock 26 mag is already double stack, so there's no way to increase the capacity there. With the Glock 43X, the factory mag is single stack, and Shield Arms was able to fit more by making it 1½.
a great very interesting video.have a goodd one the tfbtv crew.
Let's take a super small revolver that people pocket carry, that's super light, and add size and weight to it so they can't pocket carry anymore. 😉
Not every gun needs a red dot.
Optics on a j frame is stupid. The whole point of a j frame is to have a tiny gun for concealment.
It’s almost comical how Glock puts out a model that they say is so ground breaking and revolutionary and then Glock owners try and do everything they can to make it something else. 17,18,19,26,43,45 they could have stopped after that
Why not just work with the 43 then? Why the extra steps?
I think this rep forgot the Glock 43 exists. Not the 43X, the X meaning "extended grip", just the 43. Maybe there's some functional reason they do it like MOS frames with a rail not existing on the standard Glock 43? But to buy a 43X just to cut it down to a 43 is certainly a bizarre thing to do. Not my money, not my problem I guess
Glock 43 is 6 rounds flush, this is 10 rounds flush in the same form factor. G43 frame is slightly slimmer so you can't fit 10 rounds flush in a 43
Great my pocket pistol doesn't fit in my pocket now
So a cr920 from shadow systems but a pain to get done awesome. Lmao
Why can't they just make Glock 43 flush mags?
The ROC would be pretty nice on a 360pd
Hey hey people...Luke here.
I want a 33rd mag for the 43x
Buy a G26 and shut up!
I want a snappy g43 that I can only get 2 fingers on, but I would rather send someone my perfectly fine 43x and pay them to cut it….Am I understanding this right? Wtf is going on?
Don’t they make a 9rd mag for g43? No mods needed, seems unnecessary.
So buy a 43x and spend an extra $200 to change it into a regular 43, which costs less than a 43x.
Genius. And so many of yall gunna eat it up 😂😂😭
Grip chop makes absolutely no sense unless it’s to get the 43x rail on a 43 sized frame
Im Joe Bob and I'm offended for every joe bob out there like me.
Siiiick
I wonder if they can do that for a SCT Frame 43X
I don't believe so.
Need a chop for the macro so its XL slide but picatinny rail
The p365 wasnt even mentioned here lol
A new frame is only $75, bust out the dremel!
Has anyone actually done this? I’m looking for someone who is actually done this to their 43X, I want to know what the real world application is.
Don't like sending the G43x in. Why not offer a 3D-printed fixture so that people can cut it themselves?
Cause then they couldn't charge you more money.
When will Shield release Z9 +3 mag extension? I've been waiting 2 years now.
Shield Arms really just doing Glock's job for them. they just made the G43x into the P365 because glock wouldnt lmao
Not to be mean but this is how the industry hangs itself.
More is not better, even for deep concealment all of this isn't necessary.
Glock 26 will do just fine.
Showing the 20 round mag in the firearm away from the camera was great im sure every one got to see🤦🏽♂️
I understand red dots are a thing now but red dots on revs with a cut down hammer seems kinda counterintuitive
43s your x
So they take a 43X and chop it, so it's the size that a 43 should have been from the get go.
Interesting, but I'm looking for a flush fit "Z8" magazine for pocket carry.
The Z8 magazine is in the pipeline
@ShieldArmsRUclips Thank you! Very excited to hear that!
Until they can prove their QC and reliability, only a fool would carry with their mags.
Honestly, people bashing the 43x being converted to a 43 has never experienced buyers regret.
For reals tho, Shield Arms is a good company.
We're just trying to give the people options! The S10 grip chop allows 10 rds flush in the same footprint as the G43 with only 6 rounds flush.
NGL, this doesn’t make much sense…just get a G43
so, a stack-and-a-half 43. Nothing new.
This is so stupid! The reason they even came out with the 43x is because people wanted that specific grip length! Spend half the money and get a 43 instead. Problem solved.
Kimber Mako 👍
Glock needs to create a true P365 competitor.
Curious if these flush 10 rounders would fit in a standard 43….
No the 43 frame is more slim
@@ShieldArmsRUclips damn.. that’s unfortunate
Next, offer a 43x chop down service to make the slide and barrel shorter. Or widening service so everything takes double stack mags!
Who the fuck got wish Brandon Herrera on here
... Did Luke just unironically drop a SsethTzeentach reference or am I tripping?
Red dot revolver😂😂😂😂🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Will they be willing to convert a PSA Micro Dagger ? Asking for a friend
No chop service for the Micro Dagger currently
I personally don't want optics on a j frame. I do however want to mount a compact light on j frames.
If i wanted a shorter 43x id just buy a 43 .... i have the 43x because it HAS a longer grip
Glock already created this in the 90s lol. Just get a Glock 26.
Probably more reliable than Shadow Systems..
Wait just a minute here! You're telling me I can turn my 43x into a 43???? Don't they already make a 9 round mag for the 43? This doesn't make reasonable sense to me at all.
Nice to see these options, but it would be great if their magazines would work correctly. Overpriced and no function.
sus
The aftermarket Glock business is booming because Glock is terrible at innovation
Shield arms will ruin your Glock for money.
so basically they reinvented the 43
Chopping a 43x or 48 makes no sense. It defeats the purpose of why they exist. Furthermore, for less than half the cost of one of those guns and the service you could just buy a 43 from a pawn shop.
The be fair, the 43x and 48 make absolutely no sense. Glock really screwed the pooch.... Again
@@misterfister7262 they make sense if you're looking for that particular size. They didn't work for me but my girlfriend loves it for her smaller hands. I actually have large palms and stubby fingers so I find stuff like the 26 and shorter but fatter guns to be my preference when I got buddy who prefer a full-size 19 because they can't stand the pinky hanging, or maybe they prefer the full size but that being said the 43x and 43 are not the number one selling handguns in the country for no reason. There is a big market and demand for a particular gun in that size. I just don't understand why people further modify guns like that to change their sizes when they were literally created in the first place because people wanted that particular specific size.
Noice
So buy a 43x turn back into a 43? Why ruin a gun just buy the already chopped version
Why not just buy a G43?
