- Today Luke C. is with Matt from Warbird Protection to talk about their line of safety equipment, specifically their soft body armor which Matt has tested himself. Softy body armor is typically capable of stopping most handgun rounds up to and including .44 magnum. As you’ll see in today’s video, just like his dad, Matt is dedicated to proving that his body armor is not only NIJ certified, but capable of stopping bullets in real life through a live demonstration.

Dude really said "I must uphold my family legacy or die"
This is how you sell. The owner taking a 44 magnum to the chest just gave every future buyer full confidence in his product.
but also being honest with having a phone book there (for very good reasons lol)

Good armor guys are absolute lunatics in the coolest way
Id also like to point out that during shooting himself not only did he try his best to point it nothing on his person other than the vest, but also after shooting himself he immediately cleared the gun. What a guy
He only put 1 round in.😂
@@AJohnSmith Ok and? Firearm safety buddy. The rules exist for a reason. Ill be sure to pay attention to the news for when you make yourself a statistic.
Wait, wait.. this is the SON of the pizza guy who invented the bullet proof vest, & also the maker of the amazing gun variety promotional video Red Letter Media reviewed?!? 🤯 Wow.
Fire arms and firepower! I have it on VHS 📼.
Thats crazy my dad also shot himself to prove a point but he only got to do it once

Richard Davis, Second Chance vests, 1970s
For real, my mind just got blown a bit, Red Letter Media did a hilarious breakdown of one of Richards original promotional videos, can't believe his son is doing the same! 😂
so that's who created second chance. they should create a line of vests that just look like normal vests so you can wear it over your normal clothes without it needing to be under it
@@cagneybillingsley2165 there are a few companies that do that, but they're very not cheap and unless you intend to look like a waiter, or wear a fishing vest every single place you go it's not a great option
Just remember the key is back face deformation. A lot of vests will stop big calibers, but you won’t walk away from it. Actually you won’t do anything after it. A vest that stops 44 magnum and keeps back face deformation minimal is impressive.
Dang, that dude is a real one just dumping that round into his chest.
a great very interesting video.have a good one tfbtv crew.
I clicked on this video thinking it was probably just clickbait. I was not disappointed.
Holy shit!! Richard Davis' kid!!
Outstanding!!
If this is the company related to Second Chance body armor this is the OG good stuff best of the best made in America AAA certified stuff. The Davis family did a lot of good law enforcement and for the shooting competition community, and continues to do a stellar job setting up the pin shoot every year. TFB should have a required mandatory attendance every year for scientific purposes of course.
I got the Intrepid RC ear Pro and Sleeper Cell shooting glasses into my channel for a review about a month ago. They are both very very nice, in fact I am typing this while I'm wearing the sleeper cells on my head. They are my everyday sunglasses now.
I
Hi HOP & Luke!
I want one with Thanos on it, and underneath Thanos it could say "You should have aimed for the head"
The fact that after he fired, the barrel flagged him right in the face on the way up really had me freaked out for a second.
Hopefully he knows to only load one round
He flagged his shoulder, you can see from the 2nd video with a better angle. The go pro is mounted lower than his chin, so it looks like he flags his head if the go pro was mounted head height.
@@stripedassape8148 he only loaded 1. It's in the video..
Yup, I was concerned too but I scrolled back and saw that all the cylinders were empty save the one live round he used as a demonstration.
That freaked you out, but him shooting himself in the chest with a .44 magnum didn't? I think gun safety was intentionally thrown out the window for this demonstration lol
love the soft armor vids need a gas mask reveiw c50 nd mira mask
Imagine the camera man forgetting to hit the record button.
Its now a family tradition, if he has a son hes uhhh yeahhh
Pizza time.
Any chance they'll make jockstraps with the same material and construction? I'm asking for, uh... a friend.
Got a green Glock video just seen on Darwin awards in mind, buddy? 😂
I hope you aren’t bointing
Uhhh...seriously? What do you think that would feel like? I mean...it would probably still kill you from the pain.
Itd be nice to see a company make body armor affordable enough to make it just another piece of range safety gear.
So from second chance too armor express now this company? How many time so they sell
My wife: hey look! Walmart Herrera!
You can see Richard Davis demonstrating his Second Chance body armour, including7,62x51 on Firearms and Firepower (1985). A J channel on YT.
Knew this guy from red letter media, whata a crossover
You know who doesnt shoot themselves to test thier armor? Ar500
This would go way harder on liveleak
Why is this f*cking hilarious!!?
I thought this was MTV
Brandon Herrera looks slightly off in this video.
A smart person would've just shot the vest or had the officers shoot the vest.
12g slugs? 😫
Wait wait I thought the story went he was pizza delivery driver 🤔
The pizza delivery part of the story is correct but wasn't included in this quick synopsis.
let's hope their company doesn't start selling armor-piercing bullets. That demo might not end up on RUclips.
Is that the AK 50 guy with the microphone?
1100 msrp for polymer 3a body armor
why wear soft armor ever when hard armor is much more protective
with soft armor you can have a lower profile , aka it's more easily hidden. Also with soft armor you cna have much more coverage than with hard plates.
More body coverage, more relevant level of protection to the firearms used to harm over 80% of civilians, lighter weight, lower profile, can often be worn in a concealed manner.
Hard armor is shaped to cover vital organs and that is often fine enough for the military as they receive immediate care from another soldier and/or medical staff, as well as receiving evacuation when needed. For civilians, especially those with no partners/buddies nearby, a gut shot can still lead to certain death as medical care won't be as expedient. Soft armor isn't the magic solution, but it certainly has its uses, even for civilians.
We know how these vests work now. No need to go shooting yourself to prove any points. Now he just looks like a risk taking psychopath to me.
Ok but 3A+ versions be better 😂
There is no NIJ certification for that.
WTF 😮
👍🏻👍🏻💯💯🇺🇸🇺🇸🔫🔫🍺🍺

You know.. It's just as believable to shoot it on a ballistic dummy.. but what do I know
That is the dumbest and most unnecessary thing to ever do just to test/show how your armor works. And why did he choose to hold the pistol that way?
Even with the precautions taken, that was beyond stupid . Just watching the barrel bounce around as he was lining up his shot. Violation of basic firearms safety. I'm sure it's a solid product but still... smh
That is the stupidest thing I've ever seen and Tex Grebner would agree. Wow
That was so idiotic. And those who think it was bad ass, he literally admitted to not trusting his armor by putting a phone book behind it. So that was not only pointless, but a gimmick.
The book had nothing to do with catching the bullet, just the kinetic energy transfer. This guy has the balls to prove his stuff works in the simplest way possible.

Kinda looks like ac slater from saved by the bell 😂 .. the walmart version
I just checked the NIJ CPL and they are on there.
Visceral response in my soul seeing him do it. That's a product you can stand behind. Literally.
Isn't the guy who invented bodh armour the pizza delivery guy?
yes, that’s him.
I saw videos of Richard Davis shooting himself with a 357 mag and later a 44 mag wearing his Second Chance brand body armor and that was what made me buy my first Second Chance vest back in the 1970's . Richard Davis said making a vest comfortable to wear or officers would leave it in their locker and being from the hot , humid Gulf Coast I agree totally . Now the vests have to be waterproof and that is like wearing a garbage bag around your torso .
The old school slick 3a vest with a chest rig over it is still unmatched drip
clothing isnt drip and vests dont make anyone look bad ass. civilians dont look bad ass in body armor. regular people have no purpose for body armor

Still dont think its better than good old Dupont kevlar. Especially the new Exo stuff
So many questions. Mainly where did this dude get a phone book ?
Well theres more than one way to get a sunken chest..

My ass was puckering h the whole time dude was readying to shoot himself. I’m glad he’s okay, and it is an exceptional display of confidence, but man, please don’t try 3:00 at home.
Respect!!
12ga slug? Id need to see that on a test dummy
3A armor will stop a shotgun slug but it'll probably take you out of the fight and maybe still kill you.
@@davidwiechecki9205 ribcage, claymore mine, what's the difference anyways?
Great video
I still have my original second chance vest that I was issued in 1998. I love that vest. Every once is a while I put it on to reminisce of simpler times.
Those things were dope I never got one
Occasionally as a security officer I wear a level 2 Second Chance Monarch Summit. This is without a doubt the softest, most flexible vest I've ever owned. And I've owned many.
Richard Davis was a legend. Glad to see his son following in his footsteps
If you're gonna be dumb you gotta be tough. Holy shit
2nd Chance vests! The deep cover model was my favorite.

I have some questions:
Doesn’t he have any friends or partners who could help him with the test?
If he couldn’t find anyone to assist, why not use a vise or a fixed platform and pull a string to engage it?
Lastly, after he truly decided to be the most foolish person in the world, why did he flag his head instead of simply rotating it sideways?
Assumption would be anyone “helping” him would go down for murder if the test went wrong
So you ask your first two questions then seem to be concerned with him pointing an empty gun at his head briefly after just taking the one shot it had in it to his chest? Hmmm. If you saw his dad's version you might see why. It shows he is still fully functioning and capable after taking a hit. Plus, would you ask a friend to risk killing you if something weird happens?
I have seen his Dad do this several times. Very impressive. It is good to know the product works as advertised.
Wow! What an awesome Story and product
Love it
What’s the difference between the Hoss, Meridian and Skyflex? Is it weight and thickness?
Yes, as you go up from Hoss to Meridian to Skyflex, the panels get lighter, thinner and more flexible.
Now nick has the rest of his hair from last year
Looks to be damn near the same size profile as hard armor
