I actually beat it on Maximum Fury and honestly 99.9% of it wasn’t as hard as it was on Ultra Viscera, that being the difficulty I beat the game on when playing it for the first time. That 0.01% was the final boss and that was just from it being a terribly designed final boss that on Maximum Fury is impossible to do legitimately, meaning I had to cheese through it by shooting grenades into the hole you’re suppose to shoot at via the secret super armour area above it.
As my first time playthrough difficulty it hasn't been that bad throughout half the game but I've heard things about the final battle I'm not looking forward to
Funny thing happened to me when I first played. They updated the game and it made my save flake out. Forgetting that the iron maiden is a fake medieval torture device. If it were up to me, I'd have made the argument that Ion Maiden is named after the iron maiden, and not the band Iron Maiden, and that this is a frivolous case that oughta be thrown out. To be fair, I also understand Iron Maiden the band. Imagine trying to stay relevant, even though you've been making the same fxxking album for the last 45 years. Sarcasm aside, this is the same exact kind of bullfuckery Metallica did when they condemned piracy. Analog piracy(that is copying a cassette to another cassette) is what made them famous the first place. Only shit bands do this. Real musicians don't bother with people sharing their stuff, because they know their stuff is so good, that people will pay for overpriced tickets to see them live, not to mention concessions and relics like T shirts and hats. They know they can rake in way more from 100k tickets+merch than 500k album sales and hawking stuff on their websites. Besides, people won't be more likely to buy your stuff if you prevent them from even hearing it. It's not like a guy recommends you a band in a bar and then you go out and buy their CD, or just randomly pay 50 bucks to go to a concert of people you've never heard about. In any case, it's nothing but a sign of massive insecurity that they think a game would take away from their legacy. If I was them, I would have leaned into it and asked them if they want us to compose a theme song or an end credits tune or whatever.

And that weapon is less like a shotgun that also uses grenades and more like a grenade launcher that also uses buckshot canisters. 13:27 Robocop reference. Spot on for the most part. Two things for those who haven't played yet... Use the smgs for the blue and red flaming skull guys. They actually drop them faster than the mini-gun and I believe they are weak to fire. I pretty much almost exclusively use them for those enemies outside of sporadic mobbing when I was low on ammo for other weapons. You also don't need to use the secondary fire of the crossbow to one shot the flying missile torso things if you get a head shot, which can be tricky, but is very satisfying.
17:18 This wasn’t mentioned in the video itself, but that apartment secret is a reference to an identical one above the cinema in Duke 3D’s first level. Like it, it has red mood lighting, flickering light from the TV and all of the weapons available in that episode/zone. Unlike Duke 3D, you can actually drink the cocktail on the couch for health.
I am having a hard time with the copyright issues of "Ion Maiden". Does Iron Maiden own the word "Maiden"? That does not sound right. It's not *"Iron* Maiden", which I would be on the band's side if it was, but it isn't. I don't understand copyright anymore, does anybody actually understand why this is a thing? I have a feeling the developer caved in over nothing and they could have won the case with minimal effort. I really wish the game kept the title "Ion Maiden", it's so good.
US Patent Bureau allowed a corporation to own a trademark on a word "Sky" which made Microsoft change a title of its product to not contain "Sky" in the name.
It's the same reason Resident Evil had to be called Resident Evil outside of Japan where it's known as Biohazard. Because the band Biohazard own the copyright in the states despite Biohazard being a generic thing that existed long before either entity. In short: copyright laws are a mess.
@@smward87 "a mess" is a horrible understatement. If we go by the Constitution (which i like to do) then 14 years with one 14 year extension is how long a copyright is supposed to last. Suing a game company over having a similar name is trve metal! Just like when Ozzy sued his own friends/bandmates over the Black Sabbath name! Totally something a real friend would do.
American companies are obsessed with fighting each other with lawyers, most other countries businesses don't enjoy it quite so much!!

MrDarkside my goosebumps became alive hearing that music. Best movie ever made.
Not to disappoint you, but that's not actually in the game, Civvie just added it in.
@@crazyeyes8962 eh still buying it I'll imagine it or maybe someone will mod it eventually :D
And also there's a booty shaking chick on the tv in Duke 3D.
@@HarrySBallz Yep.
K8E's editing is getting better every episode, great work.
Copyright laws are satanic
@@smward87 "a mess" is a horrible understatement. If we go by the Constitution (which i like to do) then 14 years with one 14 year extension is how long a copyright is supposed to last. The insures that people continue to innovate constantly. Greed has changed that and that is just on aspect that is, pardon my French fucked copyright.
They lied that the game is similar to an Iron Maiden-themed mobile app, which is obviously isn't, but in the land of the free it's always a question of how much capital you have to employ lawyers.
I only found out about this absolute gem of a game last year. Played through it in no time and had a lot of fun with it.
Definitely among the best games I played in 2021, and a solid recommendation to anyone who likes 90s FPS games.
was never a really big iron maiden but now ill forever remember them the bad who sued a small game dev.
What's kinda fucked is they had a few songs in Carmageddon 2. Who knows when got a stick shoved up their ass about games.
I doubt Bruce Dickinson was browsing steam, came across this game and called his lawyers. More likely the mega conglomerate record company they're signed to saw an opportunity to sue and get some money.
I know it's a bit late to be informing everyone in this thread about this, but they were primarily defending their absolute shit mobile game. Yes, Iron Maiden has a fucking mobile game.
See? This is how you make a Build engine game. And this one didn't take fifteen years to complete.
SEE THAT, RANDY PITCHFORD? HOW 'BOUT YOU TAKE TIME OUT OF YOUR STAGE MAGIC CAREER AND MAKE THE EPIC GAMESTORE DISAPPEAR?
This game is what Duke Nukem Forever should have been. Imagine a co-op campaign with Duke and Shelly.
Not acceptable. That would mean getting rid of Satisfactory.
EGS is fine lol. They pay devs better but have a less enjoyable setup than steam. So it goes. Their mod integration for MW5 works well at least.

Command and Conquer references :^)
That clip of s3 Twin Peaks was definitely a highlight moment in that season for me. What a perfect Lynchian trip that whole scene was.
Between Ion Fury, Bloodstained, and how on point the return of Twin Peaks was...I can do with all the nostalgia pandering there is when it's executed better than ever.
Using a midi remake of the Harmonica theme over footage of the revolver's alt fire is a meaningful statement.
I hope it lives up.
I just have to fucking say it, the amount of joy and care you put into these videos shows so much appreciation for the work it takes to make these games. I’m not a big gamer but I love your channel, and I hope you get out soon.
P.S. did you find the barbarella reference?
everything about this game is awesome.
the protagonist
the cityscape\buildings etc
the weapons
the easter eggs
the game
Damn, that hip hop in the end is a reference to Rogue Warrior. (look for Rogue Warrior rap on youtube. Sick rhymes by Mickey Rourke)
I unironically like Rogue Warrior lol I know people shit on the game for being super short (like 1,5h) but the main character and the whole low budget vibe scream DTV B action movies starring ... say Dolph Lundgren. And I like Dolph Lundgren.
@@milosmisic89 I'd say short length works for Rogue Warrior. If it was 6-8 hours long, it would just feel tedious. But blasting through it in 2 hrs is great fun.
He's obviously referencing the Shadow Warrior credits song, given Lo Wang's little line at the end.
@@Amig186 Civvie made the song? I thought it's from the game.

I have no idea if 'Civvie 11' represents the real life you or is a persona...
But either way I'm glad you exist.

Wow. Did not expect to hear Once Upon a Time in the West 6:20
Ion Maiden (corporate lawyers be damned) and Wrath: Aeon of Ruin are my most anticipated boomer fps's.
what's a "boomer fps"?
@@Zontar82 It's a silly term people seem to be adopting to designate classic FPS games that adhere to the old Doom/Quake/Duke style of gameplay where the focus is on streamlined dungeon crawling - which is to say, navigating maze-like levels, fighting things and accumulating loot.
I don't know why people are calling us boomers - those of us who were playing these games in the 90s. Boomers are a much older generation than us; I think everyone is a bit confused.
it's just a dumb joke that needs to die
These boomers don't get the boomer meme haha old people amiright
