I think no one gonna argue about streaming being a real job, but what ticks a lot of people is the way it sounds like they are complaining/comparing about their job which coming from Hasan who came from money (his family was rich Af) and are in the top of streaming industry will end up sounding very whiny.

Content creation requires skill, talent and determination. It can be lucrative but not everyone can do it successfully, so it definitely can be considered a real job just like being a musician, actor or stand up comedian. That being said, in no world is it as soul crushing as working in most customer service jobs or for an exploitative employer.

    • @MIDO44444

As a full-time corpa and content creator like Chad Pokke, making any sort of income from content means you treat it as a job with valid amounts of work and skills. I've nearly learned just as much marketing, branding, and business skills as many of my friends who did a business major in university and often use that knowledge more than they do.
Content creation is basically entrepreneurship; there is a good amount of stress and risk.
Asmon showing Hasan's statement in context definitely makes sense for social drain and mental drain. It's a specific comparison. Those arguing the "take" are mostly not arguing the actual take in context.
Thanks for sharing your Pokke Wisdom on this. The CN analysis on "making it" is very relatable. Both Corpa and content.

As a nobody viewer, my 2 cents is that anything where you make money can be considered a job, an occupation as it were.
Being an entertainer is a valid occupation. But I think in the entertainment industry, like being a CC, an actor, musician, there is that somewhat glossed over idea that it's basically the lottery on if you "make it".
For every famous actor or comedian, there are thousands of others who have not made that cut. For every famous music artist we listen to every day on the radio or spotify, how many more are trying to break into the industry to get that one song that propels them from obscurity? |
I personally think there is an overwhelming amount of survivorship bias in the entertainment industry, especially for something as "easy" as being a streamer or a vtuber, or a content creator.

What a real job is extremely subjective relevant to the material conditions and society of where this question is concerned. However there are always core jobs that are real enough because it determines our future as a species. Currently humans are the only species that can afford to prioritize individualistic tendencies and the subjective over collective and objective ones. Although at the current humanity course of normalizing every individualistic tendencies we definitely will not make it far as a species since the objective truth of every living being is existence and humanity as a whole have accepted ideas and practices that are detrimental to the objective truth of it.

the real reason it's "soul sucking" to Hasan is because he doesn't actually believe any of the shit he pedals (he probably believes some of it, but he's flat out admitted he's a "propagandist" so take everything he says as him lying through his own teeth)
as for the whole streaming isn't a "real job"
a term you used in this video that is often over looked is "white color" and then there is "blue color" jobs and there is a massive distinction between the two. Streamers are more white color then anything, it is not a physically demanding job. and as Someone who's worked almost exclusively white color jobs, there is a huge difference, and I would NEVER have the adacity to claim any job I've worked is as difficult or taxing as true hard labor jobs are.
people like me and honestly anyone who's a streamer doesn't have the right to say they're "working class" or "a laborer" I have family members (uncles and cousins and the like) who have worked themselves to the bone, doing irreparable damage to their own bodies (back/knee/shoulders/etc) to provide for their kids to have a better life.
