- In August 2023, I had the chance to be 10 days around the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador. Certainly one of the biggest treasures on this planet, a true wonderland of wildlife, and a simply mesmerizing place both above and below the water. After about a week of diving on a liveaboard cruise, incl. the islands of Wolf & Darwin (with Galaxy Diver - the crew and guides are superb), I also did some land excursions starting from Santa Cruz (e.g., Seymour Norte, Floreana). During the trip, many birds (such as blue footed boobies), land and marina iguanas, tortoises, penguins, sea lions, dolphins, squadrons of eagle rays, turtles, mola molas, schooling hammerhead sharks, and multiple whalesharks crossed our path. In 5 of our 6 dives at Darwin we saw 4 different individual whalesharks. Some of the animals you see at the Galapagos islands can only be found here - at the Galapagos. Let's hope that this place remains special.
The archipelago can be grouped in different islands, which differ a lot. The video shows impressions in the following order:
00:00 Short Summary
00:15 Central & Southern Islands
03:59 Western Islands Islands
06:22 Wolf Island
09:34 Darwin's Arch
Special thanks to the amazing gang of people that I met on the liveaboard of Galaxy Diver, you made the trip special! Thanks to my dive buddies Alex and Dora. Also thanks to Pipsa (Insta: pip666sa) and Bonny (insta: bonnychow_) for sharing some footage.
Hope this video makes fun! thx
Beautiful video !
You were lucky
I was here at the same time (other liveaboard) and we saw "only" one whale shark
But it was still incredible, hundreds of hammerheads at wolf, mantas at Isabela
Incredible !
Wieder tolle Eindrücke.
Going in May. A bit worried about those sharks!
no need to worry :)
Amazing footage! What did you film with? I will be on the Galaxy Diver in January 24!
Thx! Underwater I had a GoPro 11, above the surface my Nikon Z6
