  • Knowing that although the material body is subject to death, a wise person, can still attain the perfection of one’s life and should not foolishly neglect to take advantage of this opportunity before death arrives. (SB 11.20.14)
etad vidvān purā mṛityor / abha-vāya ghaṭeta saḥa
    apra-matta idaṁ jñātvā / martyam apy-artha-sidhi-dam
Death will meet every one. We are on earth for a certain moment of time but we live on earth as we would be imortal. The mind is scared that one day it will be shut down. Yes the mind will be shut down. Then only the consciousness will be there. Each part of our body is a temple, not only where our soul resides those which are truly, sincerely surrendered, not superficially, not half way can feel it.
People which are superficial, of course, for them God is only in one place, either in the temple, the church, the mosque or somewhere else. They are bound by the limitation of things. They can - whenever they talk about God, for them God is only in one place, say, ‘Oh, when we go to the temple, we’ll pray to God.’ But for a bhakta, for somebody who truly love God, they perceive in their being, each part of them radiates the Love of God, yes, each part of the body radiates the Love of God from their head to the toe. Each hair of them has the vibration of God, because it is not them. When the mind has completely surrendered, it’s only God which manifests through that. So, it’s only Him. That’s why in the Christian tradition, they honour the relics of the saints, even the smallest part of it. They say the Grace of God resides in it. In India you see so many samadhis of saints. Even if the soul has departed from the body - but the body has been sanctified, the body has transformed itself, even if it’s just the bones which are there lying inside the tomb or the samadhi, but it has vibration of God. Death cannot kill divine vibration. That vibration of God, for a Vaishnava, for a bhakta which has surrendered, he has to know that Shriman Narayana resides in each part of a true devotee.
When we are chanting the Name of the Lord we glow, but where does that glow comes from? we are the same person. Before chanting and after chanting what’s the difference? What has changed? What is radiating through us ? That is the Love of God. The awakening of the spiritual life comes sometimes suddenly. The real meaning of Life and the real purpose of life comes as a reminder given by the Guru. The Guru makes us remember of the true dharma of life. The Guru is the one who comes to remember you about the reason you came on earth and what is the purpose of this life. The Teacher comes and says: - Wake up, you are not just human but divine, if you follow my advice, I will lead you to the Divine. When all the pride and ego is erased, stay the surrender to the Divine. The SadGuru finds the disciple only when the disciple as the urge for the teacher. When you put your arrogance by the side, God will let feel his love.
We will have joy all the time and we will treasure this love. So don’t wait the end of your life to do your Sadhana. Sadhana is like the philosopher stone. It transform us from human to divine.
The Guru is more than a philosopher stone, as Guruji said: The Guru transform the devotee in Himself. The ones who are rooted in deep meditation, not deviated by anything, when they leave the body, they will leave it with the same attitude, the same feeling; they will attain their spiritual bodies and the Supreme Lord, Narayana. Practice is very important.
The mind is like water; whatever is the form of the recipient you pour water into, the water takes that form. The mind is the same: on whatever form you focus the mind, the mind will be crystallised into that form, and this will stay in the mind. Regularly practising Atma Kriya Yoga helps the Divine to get crystallised in the mind. And when the Divine is crystallised in the mind, then at the time of death, the person reaches the Divine.
Bhagavan Krishna says, “Whosoever at the end abandons the body, thinking upon any form of being, to that form he attains.” Like the great sage, Jadabharata, if one gets attached to an animal, one may be reborn in the form of that animal. People may ask, “What about service to animals?” Bhagavan Krishna doesn’t say that one should not serve the animals. What He says is that one should not get attached! Attachment and service are two different things. Attachment will bring misery. And one must always serve with an attitude of surrendering to the Divine.
