Yeah. I will say there isn't one singular way to be plus sized so maybe that's what he's getting at. Like I'm plus sized but my body doesn't look like her's. I hold fat differently. But a few videos that includes different plus size body types would solve the issue imo.

I mean, you don't see people from Korea saying things like "I identify as Asian!" Or someone who isn't vegan saying things like "I identify as carnivore!" Am I missing a bigger issue here?
the difference is the term in question has a particular history. two people who look very alike can have very different labels for their bodies-plus size, fat, overweight, the list goes on. people vary wildly in what they choose and some find other terms offensive. by saying she identifies as plus size OP is saying that she chose this label for herself. that is the literal entire point of this short: that he won’t make assumptions of others bodies & identities. that’s why. it’s a tiny bit of semantic courtesy and it’s not that serious.
@Ivelios Xilosient …why not just use “I am _” instead of “I identify as _”? using “identify” makes it seem like there’s some doubt as to whether the following statement is true or not.
i am not a plus size, i am a mother that still struggle to get back to normal size body before pregnant,, till i reach the point where i just need to love my self for who i am..
Life lesson: A photographer / stylist or even my hair dresser is more likely to listen to me and hear me than a Healthcare professional or doctor has ever done. I've experienced that over multiple countries, multiple decades.
I mean...yeah makes sense, it's doctors responsibility to make sure their client live past 50 while a photographer/stylish only cares about getting the dough...
@@niharikamenon-iz8xu I think you missed the point that the original commenter was making. The irony is that a doctor, who IS supposed to care about you and your health, will not listen to you or your concerns. There are many people who voice concerns about their health, body, and comfort that are often flat out dismissed by their doctor, so the issues persist. A photographer/stylist is more likely to listen to their client and what they want/need for their satisfaction than a doctor who is supposed to keep their patient satisfied with their health.
@@CabbageKin_ Isn't that how it SUPPOSED to works? Doctor's job is not to SATISFY the customer...their job is to save them. For eg: A mother who yells at u for eating unhealthy cause it's bad for you and a friend who will not say anything cause they JUST DON'T CARE So yeah, a drug dealer won't say anything about the addiction the customer has while a doctor WILL...and that's a good thing
@@niharikamenon-iz8xu You misunderstood what I said again. A doctor often DOES NOT LISTEN to their patient and that is the problem; their patient's concerns about their health should be heard. I'll say it again more clearly: There are many people who are constantly miserable, have deteriorating health, or even DIE because a doctor is NOT LISTENING to their patient's concerns. That is the irony, that a stylist or photographer CARES MORE about who they are working with than the doctor who is supposed to keep them HEALTHY AND ALIVE. Yes, both sides have a job to do, and ironically the one that should be more concerned, have a personal connection, and have open communication with their patient is not. It's also extremely ignorant and flat out rude to compare a stylist to a drug dealer. As a former stylist, I can confirm that there are many people who go to stylists in hard times. When post-break up, to prepare for life altering events, in the middle of their gender discovery, and many other personal scenarios, people will turn to stylists for wardrobe help. This expression of self that is tailored SPECIFICALLY for the client is important for not only the client's satisfaction but their mental health. Same for a field like photography that is just another visual expression of self. When someone is happy with themselves, they generally feel more comfortable and better about themselves. Mental health is just as important as physical health. Do not devalue jobs just cuz it doesn't require a doctorate. Many of us do our best to help people with whatever special qualities we have.

What is labeled as "plus size poses" are a type of pose where everything that doesn't confirm to the narrow beauty standard is purposely turned away from the camera to "hide the imperfections". The most well-known one is the "fake waist" where both hands are placed on the waist and squished in to make the waist appear smaller. You see the same pose in almost every plus size shoot. I'm not happy about this at all. Because everyone IS different and we should celebrate and show of bodies of ALL sizes. Thank you for working WITH your clients! This video is a refreshing one ❤ keep up the good work
Except we should not be celebrating and showing off bodies of all sizes, if someone is overtly thin and severely underweight then no they should not be celebrated, same with being overweight. You can identify as fat or overweight or plus sized or any other number of things that are true. I don’t identify as “plus size” because I am not a model but I will openly say I am fat and overweight

Plus size means fat. You don’t identify as plus size, you either are or your not. What would you do (seriously now) if I walked my 5’8” 135lb frame into your studio and said I identify as plus size? Are you going to put me in the same poses you put the actual plus size models in or are you going to pose me according to what flatters MY obviously not plus sized body? Plus sized: "A single label does not defines you and everyone has a different perspective of themselves and we should respect that." Being short: "Wear heels lmao"
I mean. When people say 'plus size' what they mean is 'i have fat somewhere on my body' but that tells you nothing about how their weight sits. Maybe it sits on their stomach in a way they hate but on their butt in a way they like. Maybe they have big thighs but a narrow waist. Maybe they need to know how to angle their face to not show a double chin. Basically what he's saying is 'plus size isn't a label that has a pose. But I can tell you how to find your good angle if you have a double chin or don't wanna emphasize your hips.' When someone says 'im short' you have a full grasp of their situation, because most torsos are about the same size so you just. Lengthen the legs, which is the biggest place of variation. Wear clothing that makes you look longer, put on heels, and pose in ways that foreshorten you and make you look taller.
Different people identify as short, no? For some people, 511 is "short" for some people that's tall. It's a qualitative term, it's also relative. Same with plus sized
I hate that you have to explain this, but love that you did, and how you did. Not only did you explain with expression, showing how good you are at posing, but you also made sure to emphasize your points with text. You are a good content creator and I enjoy seeing this content, even if photography containing persons is not my thing.
Thank you! And plus sized doesn't always mean fat. Really tall people and really muscular people also count as plus sized. Plus sized just means bigger than average.
Ok cool nice. But couldn’t this apply for any category? I’m genuinely curious what people’s thoughts are on that. This makes sense but like couldn’t it be similar with tall women or something like that? Please don’t get triggered I wanna know genuine reasons. Please and thank you.
Yes, he says it in the beginning of the video. "When someone asks me for poses for ANY CATEGORY, such as plus size women,...". So, I think it can be applied to anyone. I'm assuming he just gave the example of plus sized and titled it that way because that was what people were asking about and that was the model he was working with that day.

I'm sure they would like to have some direct, useful tips like everyone else.
Yeah. I will say there isn't one singular way to be plus sized so maybe that's what he's getting at. Like I'm plus sized but my body doesn't look like her's. I hold fat differently. But a few videos that includes different plus size body types would solve the issue imo.
this is so mindful and beautiful ✨😭♥️♥️
I looove your approach to this
Subscribed just for the first few words. Well done. I’ve never- NEVER hit a like follow button so fast. I look forward to this relationship. Tell your mother I said “Hi 👋🏼”
(Hand wave included even if she can’t see you) and that “we’ll be over for Xmas “ 🙇🏽♀️
I see everyone going mad in the comments about the "identifies as plus size." I mean.... I get both sides' arguments here, but it's silly, isn't it? I mean, you don't see people from Korea saying things like "I identify as Asian!" Or someone who isn't vegan saying things like "I identify as carnivore!" Am I missing a bigger issue here?
the difference is the term in question has a particular history. two people who look very alike can have very different labels for their bodies-plus size, fat, overweight, the list goes on. people vary wildly in what they choose and some find other terms offensive. by saying she identifies as plus size OP is saying that she chose this label for herself. that is the literal entire point of this short: that he won’t make assumptions of others bodies & identities. that’s why. it’s a tiny bit of semantic courtesy and it’s not that serious.
she is so beautiful 😭😭💗
There wouldn't be drama if they wouldn't have use "identity as" it's so cringey 😂
@Ivelios Xilosient …why not just use “I am _” instead of “I identify as _”?
using “identify” makes it seem like there’s some doubt as to whether the following statement is true or not.
@Ivelios Xilosient you're xenophobic arent you and a manipulative person as well.
@Ivelios Xilosient a man can not be a woman, simple
David Suh you are beautiful. This is my first time to your channel but the way you broke this down really warmed my heart. ❤❤❤
I wanted some plus sized pose references for drawings ;^;
We would love more plus size poses and the breakdown. Thank you, and God bless your family!
Didnt know weight is an identification now
Being fat and identifying as plus sized are different
you are literally the sweetest and most considerate person everrrrr
i am not a plus size, i am a mother that still struggle to get back to normal size body before pregnant,, till i reach the point where i just need to love my self for who i am..
Notice how he's having a mental breakdown in the middle.
Identifies as Plus size, seriously!???
it just means she calls herself plus sized
You are frickin awesome and I would be so darn lucky to get photographed by someone as thoughtful and creative as u one day 🥹🥹
I want a brake down of poses for her.. I have the same insecurities and never know how to pose
Such a kind guy… my kind of man… ❤️❤️❤️
Life lesson: A photographer / stylist or even my hair dresser is more likely to listen to me and hear me than a Healthcare professional or doctor has ever done.
For eg: A mother who yells at u for eating unhealthy cause it's bad for you and a friend who will not say anything cause they JUST DON'T CARE
So yeah, a drug dealer won't say anything about the addiction the customer has while a doctor WILL...and that's a good thing
That is often the government's fault tho. Doctors are so busy that they can't simply spend the ideal amount of time on each patient.
Being Thin or Fat is not an issue but being healthy or not is. 💯👍🏻
I went to a family gathering and in front of all my cousins and aunts and uncles my grandparents told me I’ve gotten “fat”, I need to stop eating bread, I need to exercise more, I look more round, and they squeezed my arms and midsection. It was so mortifying. My cousins wedding is coming up and I’ll be seeing my grandparents again and I’m just lacking in so much confidence on how I should carry my body… I’d actually love to see more of the poses you did with your friend so I have at least something to hold onto when I stand around my grandparents and take photos
gosh that sucks, hope it works out all right
Yea that sounds mortifying. I'm sorry you had to experience that.
Whenever I go out with my older sister who is thin, people are always shocked how I'm the younger one. They always bring it up like "You look so much older than your sister" or "You're alot bigger" plus I'm taller.
And honestly I just feel like if I have to sorry for not being slimmer or shorter than my older sibling. I already hate going outside since I feel self conscious about my body and face......its odd I just feel like people are laughing at me so when I hear stuff like that I just keep quiet. So yea I completely understand..........
Thank you for being so understanding and supportive of the people you're photographing. ❤
Wow I never looked at posing this way. For me I just get so awkward unless I'm having fun n goofing off or something but for serious, meant-to-slay kind of photos I JUST CANT. But seeing what you look at to help someone find good poses for themselves has been eye opening. Imma try it too I think as best as I could
She has such a lovely smile! And the way you described poses reminds me on how i pick poses for characters in art! Having it reflect the personality and person instead of 1 defining label!
The most respectfull person ive ever seen :')
Goodness. I’ve only seen a couple of your videos but this sealed it for me. Subscribed! I love your view on things and can’t wait to see what else you come out with!
What should be celebrated is being at a healthy weight, we shouldn't glorify being overweight or being underweight.
@@sindelscat9336 how does posing in a picture glorify your weight tho like do under/overweight people just never get to capture memories or feel pretty or anything
@@reharm_reality I didn't say that, I was just using that to counterclaim the other person.
@Sindel's Cat but op's comment is about working with plus size people to capture them well in photos right? /gen
@@reharm_reality but I was referring to something specific, they said that we should celebrate and show off bodies of all sizes, when no we should not.
You’re so respectful and caring. This is wholesome af
Thank you. Just. Thank you. Only one time have I ever had someone know how to photograph me. Most of the time I cry looking Ng at photos because I have been overweight no matter how hard I try. And one day I won a free photo at the mall. The girl was big too. Her ass climbed up a LADDER and gave me specific instructions on how to pose and I swear she boosted my self confidence through the roof. Talk about looking at things from the right perspective. Even if that perspective is from 4 feet up a ladder.
SUUHHHH DUDE 😆 A++ you delivered this with such finesse and care! you earned my sub+
I need more segments of this.
SARAAAAAH! I absolutely adore her!! ❤❤❤
She is so gorgeous omg!!! I didnt even know that there were poses specific to labels😅 I just think if someone wants to do that pose, do it! Idc, do what u want😊
I just want to say that i love that you take the time to understand the person you're photographing, and that Sarah is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!❤
I am super insecure about my face because the area right under my chin always looks funny in photos and it looks like I have a double chin in photos when I smile, is there a pose that could help with that?
The way you hold your head really effects this I have the same issue even though I’m not big I still have a double chin if I’m not careful
Higher angles help and make sure you’re not tucking your face in
There’s a pose called cardio that can actually help get rid of your insecurity without having to worry about if your pose is flattering
@@wockreaper bro I literally work out and I have for years. I just naturally have a puffy face, always have. Yall are so judgy about sh*t you don't know about.
@@AbigailAbbs thanks!
i have the same problem too so I stick my face forward, shoulders back, and try mewing. It feels awkward but it looks good from the front
I admire your work ethic and customer focus. Working with you must be enjoyable and yield great results.
Identify can be used for contexts other than gender wtf is up with these comments
As a genderfluid person, with the most volatile gender identity that there is, i agree with you
What if she didn’t „identify“ as plus size? Is she suddenly skinny? No still plus size. That’s why it’s a dumb phrase
@@pinar5673go back to school
You move so effortlessly gracefully it’s like your performing ballet mixed with tai chi as you switch poses
Beautiful and oddly tranquil to watch
A pose is a pose! It all determines on which pose works best for the person 🥰❤
I would love a video of the breakdown of custom photos for Sarah. Thank you for being kind, listening to your clients over the years & accepting of how we class ourselves. Unfortunately it is a hard habit to break. It is also great advice for other photographers, beginner or expert. Thank you.
This made me almost tear up lol WE ARE FINE
This is the first short of yours I see and it was an immediate like and subscribe moment. Don't even know what you post but I can tell I'm gonna enjoy it!
She’s stunning 😩😩💗
Sarah slays, nothing will change my mind.
I love this!!! I always feel so silly when I try to pose because I feel like my body doesn’t fit the standard “model poses” and I end up looking awful or just plain silly. And sometimes silly is good! But I appreciate that you take the time to get to know your models and set up poses that are flattering for them and how they see themselves! ❤❤❤❤
i feel like saying “i identify” instead of “i am” is useless bc it’s literally the same thing
Mixed people can identify as being black or identify as being biracial and give different answers that are all true. You can identify as fat or overweight or plus sized or any other number of things that are true. I don’t identify as “plus size” because I am not a model but I will openly say I am fat and overweight
If it's literally the same thing, then why do you care?
I think what they mean by “identifies as” in this context is like “this is a label she is comfortable using/thing she is fine being referred to as” - I would say most people have preferences when it comes to language used to describe their body!
Plus the term "plus size" doesn't have an exact qualification so some people may see her and consider her plus size, some may not.
@@christalcavanaugh I’m mixed race and still don’t understand. I can’t choose whether or not I’m black and Hispanic I just AM lol. Identity could make sense in other contexts but as a yes or no, are you/are you not this race makes 0 sense imo. I can identify as white but that doesn’t make me white also.
One time i saw a video of this girl interviewing a older black guy. She opened by asking if he identified as black and he said no. She lost her shit on him lmao
I love that I just found this because I know Sarah. She is amazing. Now I’m going to check out your content too. So excited.
Honestly this guy is a good dude
she looks so pretty!
… the mental gymnastics. Dfkm.
Bruh, u literally made my day, thank u so much🙏
"Hi! I identify as a girl."
"Hello, I identify as plus size."

Your nationality
Your size
Your height
Your language
Your sexuality
Your gender
Your eye color
Your skin color
Your clothing style
As long as its part of you it's your identity
@@emithesheepling9951 Thank you for your response! I did mean it as a joke but thank you for this information that I already know.

I wanna know how long it took him to practice syncing his moves with his voice
Yes! Would love more breakdowns of poses. I have a huge issue with no one being able to photograph my face for some reason but when I do it it looks great?
Did you just said identifies?
yes
Yeah he did say that. Are you deaf?
You're such a good human. I appreciate you
lol “identifies”
I’m plus size but personally I identify as skinny, and if anyone ever tells me I’m not skinny I will cancel you
it just means she calls herself plus sized
Plus size means fat. You don’t identify as plus size, you either are or your not. What would you do (seriously now) if I walked my 5’8” 135lb frame into your studio and said I identify as plus size? Are you going to put me in the same poses you put the actual plus size models in or are you going to pose me according to what flatters MY obviously not plus sized body? This ‘identity as’ crap has to stop. If I identify as a dog does that mean I have to go to the vet when I’m sick?
It's literally just a nice way of saying fat stop hating on the internet and get a life
@@Potato_335 that does not make sense at all... what is wrong with acknowledging that if your fat? It's literally up to you if you take it as an insult or just the actual truth and observation from someone who is not blind it doesn't go deeper than that. People are so sensitive these days like what the heck, when in reality nobody cares.
@@Satella_witch_of_dreams it's literally just being nice it is the equivalent to saying someone is autistic rather than saying their retarded, it's just a sense of respect
@@Potato_335 again nobody si disrespecting nor hating on who, it's just that I'm just genuinely confused on since when did the word "fat" became always disrespectful? It only just entirely depends on the person in which how they use it in a context.
@@Satella_witch_of_dreams well some people just don't enjoy being called fat and would rather have a more delicate way of saying it, like I said it is kind of the equivalent to calling someone autistic rather than calling them retarded, it's just a little nicer of a way of saying it, same as calling a police officer a cop rather than calling them a pig or calling someone a nanny rather than calling them a maid, I understand you are trying to say that if you are far you are fat and it's the people fault for trying to make it something different but I think it's better to call someone by something more delicate way of saying it
If you are plus size, better be the muscle, if not, get motivation and hit the weights, you can do it queen!
Plus sized: "A single label does not defines you and everyone has a different perspective of themselves and we should respect that."
Being short: "Wear heels lmao"
But I can tell you how to find your good angle if you have a double chin or don't wanna emphasize your hips.'
When someone says 'im short' you have a full grasp of their situation, because most torsos are about the same size so you just. Lengthen the legs, which is the biggest place of variation. Wear clothing that makes you look longer, put on heels, and pose in ways that foreshorten you and make you look taller.
@@valiantknight6364 Most torsos are NOT the same size. Short people may have short torsos with long legs, short legs with long torsos, or both.
Different people identify as short, no? For some people, 511 is "short" for some people that's tall. It's a qualitative term, it's also relative. Same with plus sized
SHES SO PRETTY ❤❤❤❤
They have body identifications now?!
they’ve always existed
I hate that you have to explain this, but love that you did, and how you did. Not only did you explain with expression, showing how good you are at posing, but you also made sure to emphasize your points with text. You are a good content creator and I enjoy seeing this content, even if photography containing persons is not my thing.

awww the pictures came out great 🥺
Plus size isnt an identity to identify as. You just are. Soon race is gonna be an identity 😂
crying at his miming lmaooo
Thank you! And plus sized doesn't always mean fat. Really tall people and really muscular people also count as plus sized. Plus sized just means bigger than average.
Guy is behaving like an airhostes in the aeroplane who is trying to explain the things what is going to happen when then plane crashes 😂
This is being kind and respectful. Lovely
im 5'1 but i identify myself tall😼😼😼
