Airport Rail Link (so-called ERA1 train; the new operator) has no more express line. The express line has seized the service since some point before COVID-19 but the Airport authority won't remove the signs around the airport. There is only a City Line left in service.
Another great transportation/Airport video 😎That airport looks huge and quite confusing partly 🤔Train ride was quite smooth looking and nice way to see the Bangkok views at night😎Thank you for sharing this informative, enjoyable and relaxing transportation video A K🙂👍!!!
Compared to what the airport was like when I was in Bangkok in 1971, it has become huge!!! I'm happy that in 1971 the only way to get into the city from the airport was by taxi - no changes and direct to the hotel. Prices were much lower back then and the baht was worth more - the trip was 40 baht - about $2 US. Thanks again for another great video!
In 1971, it was another airport, Don Muang, in the north of Bangkok. It's still operating, though not the main airport anymore. The new main airport, Suvarnabhumi, is in the east of Bangkok, and it's really huge. 👋🏻👴🏼
@@brucedahms4508 Lots of changes in Asia since 1971. I flew into Seoul in Dec 1973 and landed at Kimbo Airport (now spelled Gimpo) It was tiny then. Very basic. It's been a good half century for Asia.
As someone who stayed in Bangkok for a month I found the transit systems easy and convenient to use. I purposely booked my lodging near a MRT station so I could move around the city more effectively. Even during busy times I never felt like my wallet and phone were in danger though I always kept it somewhere close to me. Bangkok felt safe at all times of the day and night and I avoided the major tourist areas. Its much easier to purchase either the MRT or BTS (or both) physical cards which you can top up at any station and is much faster then digging around for bills or coins.
I stumbled across your channel and I have to commend you for your thorough explanation This is the most explanatory vlog I have seen Well done young man 🙏
Thanks for the fully immersive first time experience and instructions on how to travel to Bangkok in Thailand! It's very modern there but has its own issues like anywhere. Epic and amazing video 💯
All ATMs in Thailand will charge the 220 baht flat rate fee which is why it makes sense to withdraw the maximum amount possible. You’ll also get better deals on SIM cards and at the currency exchange booths if you go downstairs at the airport and use the kiosks there, rather than use the ones on the floor where you arrive.
Indonesian here. We Asians don't really care which type of English we use here, so you'll find plenty of mix and match. If the Bangkok's Airport Rail Link is comfortable enough for you, you should try Malaysia's KLIA Ekspres or Indonesia's Jakarta Airport Train. According to OAG survey in 2023, the busiest airport in Southeast Asia is the Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, while Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport is the 8th. Enjoy your holiday in Bangkok, my favorite city in Southeast Asia.
.Bangkok has two airports, so it is not surprising that Suvarnabhumi Airport has fewer passengers than Jakarta Airport.🙄🙄🙄🙄😴😴😴😴Both international airports There are more than 90 million passengers in total. ( you should try Malaysia's KLIA Ekspres or Indonesia's Jakarta Airport Train.) ***From the airport to the city center The distance is only 25 km, so the passenger seats are like a metro train. It's not a long distance train like in Malaysia.
It was quite a journey getting from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Downtown! 😲 I'm surprised there's no credit card payment options to purchase a train fare and SIM card at the airport, and your coin pouch from Taiwan came in handy. The MRT ride was efficient though. 👍 I really appreciate you going through all the trouble to create this dedicated and informative video. Glad you made it safely to Bangkok, and thank you so much for sharing this video, AK! 🤗
Credit card is not really a thing here for public infrastructure and small shops. Either you pay with cash, transportation card, or QR code. But it's widely available in bigger stores, restaurants, hotels, and more.
Fastidious walking through the airport of Bangkok ! Tomorow Tuesday march 5 I send you by Paypal few money for supporting you ! Friendship and good journey !
Fun fact about this train -this train use UK Class 360/2, but slightly modded to use on the line. -This train can go 160km/h (99mph) which is the fastest train in thailand And that a Express train No.03
Thanks for your video very informational. Will come in handy. By the way how much did the credit card charge on the final stop? And do you know how much it would have cost by Govt Taxi there?
Beginning ARL had 2 services ticket express one and ordinary one. Express higher than ordinary service because it stop only Airport and Phayathai station. Current ARL only ordinary service. This service stop all station.
Thailand has approximately 5 million foreign workers, is famous and has many tourists, and is often plagued by criminals and pickpocket gangs from neighboring countries. and from tourists as well
Actually, the locals and Singaporeans have their own automatic immigration lanes which are super fast. I guess the locals you have met in the same line just didn't realize there is.
I think I remember hearing that iPhones 14 and above don’t have SIM cards anymore. Is that true, Ken? The last time I traveled internationally was in 2015 and it was to the UK. I had a BlackBerry then and all I had to do was to arrange for a UK carrier (I used Vodaphone) before I left the US and I was good to go in the UK when I got there. I’m always so impressed with your adaptability in new places, Ken. I did a fair amount of traveling in Europe on my own back in the day but I never ventured to Asia. You must have been SO glad to get to your hotel, have a bite to eat, and get some rest!!
Someone brought a Durian to my uncle's house and he went to the alclove where all the shoes were stored and checked all the bottom of the shoes to see if there was dog pooh on the bottom of the shoes! LOL.
Better exchange rate at an ATM? You must be joking, right? Cash always give you a better rate and the best rate you get in the city, not at the airport. The best rate in Bangkok you get at Superrich Head Office

No problem!
wow! this is what you call a complete trip from suvarnabhumi airport to the city. love this!
Thanks for showing us the most daunting part of traveling - getting from point A to B, even during off hours.
You're welcome, I hope you found it useful!
Fascinating how Action Kid can find the way to get where he gotta get to Thanks for the show it was a lot of fun to watch. From New York
Much appreciated, thanks for watching!
The transit systems in the Asian countries you have highlighted all seem so efficient, clean and safe.
Yes, they seem to be quite efficient!
I like these videos from airports. I learn so much.
Thank you so much for the support!
I’m so excited I feel almost on that trip! Thk u this is great!
For foreign exchange you get a better rate outside the terminal in the basement level heading towards the rail link.

There is no express service from Suvarnabhumi or vice versa. It has been suspended already shortly after the ARL opened many years ago.
Welcome to Thailand bro.

So, all we need is the USA passport right? No bank statements or any other documents required?
True, but your passport can’t expire for 6 months or less
1:16:37 xiaxia is a bad word in Thai, you know? 😂
I know u did this for us, but there's a lot to be said for a taxi. its just too stressful after a long flight, immigration etc
you need a good ti massage that was epic thank you
Spirit Airlines is not snynonmous with bad, I've never had a bad experience with Spirit.
Airport Link AC
It too hot not work
I hate when the Express Line got canceled.
Fact: This train is made in England
Yes it is.

WOW, Well done Ken, and thanks😊
You're welcome, thank you!
I think ATMs charge a service fee deducted from account. Pls check. Rates at money changers better outside airport
