I think that is a wise choice. Also, I'll be giving away that copper Pilar in the next few months, so you might be able to get it for free ;-) anyway. Pay attention inside upcoming videos for easy clues. I'm such a small channel, my last knife random drawing had 1 entrant for the Kizer Vanguard Mini Sheepdog. Thanks for stropping by!
Personally I prefer the Squid more as well - Voxnaes can turn a small knife into a larger hand-hold, but in this case at the price of losing any reasonable pull-cut capability.
,,,but, but, is the copper any good? Appreciate all the negatives on this overrated knife....only makes one feel more positive about the reviewer and his reviews.
Thanks for the vote of confidence on my impartiality (you should check out my Cold Steel Tiger Claw review - I could literally feel the hate from a certain portion of the CS die hards...and I am a CS lover!). Though I might detect some joviality on the copper scale...I actually like the look of it, and it takes a great scratch pattern when paired in the pocket with my Thrunite Archer 1C flashlight. That said, I wouldn't spend the extra $20 again to get this in copper - there are many other knives with a thin profile that would out-style this in copper (think Civivi Isham McKenna, Boker Plus Kansei, Kershaw Leek or Natrix).
I have the Pilar III and absolutely love it. I was contemplating adding this copper-scaled guy, and your review has saved me the trouble. Thanks!

Love the Pilar, but the Squid is a lot better design wise.
