Superman's line that he "rope a doped" Jax-Ur is actually brilliant. "Rope a dope" was one of famed boxer Muhammad Ali's signature strategies. Ali would lean against the rope, arms up in defense, pretending he was overwhelmed, and let his opponent pummel him. His opponent would assume this was their chance to end the match, and absolutely lay into Ali. However as Ali was leaning back against the ropes, the ropes were absorbing much of the punches' force. The opponent would tire, and then Ali would jump out on the attack.
Why does this matter so much? DC once put out the comic _"Superman Vs Muhammad Ali",_ where Superman was first trained in boxing by Ali himself, and then actually boxed against him. (without powers, of course) So Superman is not simply *familiar* with Ali's moves and strategies, he literally learned them directly from the source!

I don't remember if the issue continues from that scene or moves on to a different plot but it was released somewhere between 2009 and 2012 (if you want to search the archives I would suggest starting somewhere between issues 15 and 40)

I like Batman and Superman friendly stories, they are the top heroes of their world, but must be VERY hard to write good stories where Superman cannot win alone. The same to Justice League. That's why the League must always be fighting absolutely cosmic threats that demands you to be in more than one place at time because in any other way, Superman don't need them. In almost all Batman-Superman stories they forget the facts that: Superman can think fast than any human, He can memorize the whole genome (all nucleotide order) of a being. He can reconstruct a high complex machine just seeing it once. And his Fortress has technology from MANY GALAXIES, so any problem he can take a god ex-machina science from there. It is impossible don't see that he many times just let Batman do his thing.

Obviously it's for the story but Superman has been under a yellow sun since he was a baby. He should easily outclass every other Kryptonian in terms of sheer power. And DC retconned his origin after the original Crisis so his powers didn't kick in until he hit puberty, which would mean his body had to soak up solar radiation for at least ten years, so why do other Kryptonians develop them almost immediately upon exposure to a yellow sun?

There was mutual respect in this comic but that’s not what happened at all in this comic as Batman was a side character throughout most of the fight. In fact it was Superman’s intelligence that was actually put on display over his super powers as Superman actually outsmarted his opponent instead of using brute strength like he often does. Superman “Rope-a-doped” Jaxor. If you don’t know what that means it is a Muhammad Ali boxing terminology of tricking a boxing opponent as he punches you while you relax against the ropes. This means Superman was letting him beat him as the trap was being set. Keep in mind Superman is about minimizing loss of life and this guy is a mass murderer. If Superman had fought him to the end, he would’ve likely won as Superman has much more experience with his powers but that would also mean potential loss of many lives during that fight. By using his mind and tricking him back to the Phantom Zone with Batman, he was able to save the day without casualties. Batman’s comment at the end should’ve clued you in that it was Superman’s idea followed by his comment about him using Ali’s rope-a-dope strategy.
