*As an Ex Soldier I like this movie very much, specially the acting of Nanaji and his team. Nanaji took few months original soldier training in the Army training Regiment. Look at Israel, every physically fit citizen is a soldier,male and female both. India should adopt this system. The cowardness and fear will be vanished from the mind of ordinary citizens if they took military training. This should be must for the Indian youths who are physically fit.*

I think NCC was supposed to do that but I feel it got limited to parade only. The col. VK singh in the scene where the kidnap plot was discussed is Retd Gen. V.K.Singh now politician as well, I think..

Watched this movie first back in 1991. Nana Patekar has literally lived his character of an Army Commander. As someone who studied in a Kendriya Vidyalaya within an Army Cantonment area & did take part in NCC trainings, I can relate to every scene of this movie especially the training, officer personalities and mindset to make a career in Army. A rare and brilliant film in the last 30 years time period.

@@godabhayyt3182 I was a part of Army Wing in NCC Junior division, There are Batallions in NCC I was in 9 MP Batallion , Regiments and Para Forces it all comes afterwards when the person is commissioned and has achieved a rank in army. NCC is more like a formative process before going into army

Luckily I am early 80s born and watched this movie when it got released on VCR. It was love at first sight with uniform. Always wanted to be a soldier. Small town, lack of awareness and few other things ensured I never got there. Still to this date, this movie gives me goosebumps and tears. Especially the mouth organ and songs dhadkan zara ruk gai hai and hamari mutthi. Don’t think this will change till I take my last.

India is getting down day by day. We are legging behind. At least serve 3 years in Army then we make India proud. I was studying at that time in 12th standard, this movie was stamped on my mind. Nana Pataker directed and acted very emotionally. The climax is very fantastic.
