My favourite thing about this series is seeing the fear that goes into trying anything new. As a generally unathletic, uncoordinated person- I always felt like I was just a clumsy scared idiot when it comes to trying anything new and it's made me not want to. Seeing awesome athletes (I saw these three in the skateboarding version of this) show fear, nerves, and missteps, I think, shows that even if you're an athlete... trying new stuff sucks and is scary. kudos to these ladies for their courage!
An episode with pole dancers please! I'd love to see something like body builders or people who practice calisthenics keeping up with pole dancers and vice versa
I’ve tried trapeze and it is not as easy as it’s looks!! For someone who is a bit scared of heights I felt really good that I actually went up the ladder and did it. It felt like you were going to fall when you have to reach out for the bar but the instructors were holding onto you at all times before you swing out. Last thing is that it hurts holding the bar when you’re swinging. The trapeze artists are amazing!! It was scary but really cool to do!! If any of the instructors at the trapeze school behind the Sydney Olympic pool are reading this THANK YOU!! You gave me confidence to do it!!
___ try to keep up with ___ continues to be one of the best series on RUclips! Love the diversity of the athletes and the types of sports showcased! So so cool
I used to do gymnastics and wow is this bringing back a lot of memories, the way that I got through a lot of it was thinking of the physics behind it and visualizing what the momentum would do, which would help me in not overdoing jumps
The point is for it to be two completely different groups of people with completely different skill sets although on occasion they do have groups with shared skills like the divers and cheerleaders
@@jaciw I thought the point was to have two groups with somewhat similar skill sets to see how one could stack up with the other. Otherwise they might as well just have average people doing this. Which would be more entertaining in my opinion.
I'd love to learn trapeze, I'm terrified of heights which is a huge obstacle but I think I would try if I could, probably would have 1 or more panic attacks during every class lol but it calls me so bad, that I could try at least 3 or 4 lessons :)
When I went to the Sydney trapeze school behind the Olympic pool we had a smaller platform and I get it when she said about it moving it. It was scary!! But so cool!! The knee hang is much harder than they make it look. Only 2 people in the group I was with were able to do it.
The backflip is surprisingly easy once you've have a few goes on the trapeze. I unintentionally did a backflip once because you're naturally going to go backwards
I’m terrified to hang by my knees because once when I was younger, I fell on my neck while doing that at school and it hurt REALLY bad. Don’t know if I would trust myself to do that.
This camp I used to go to as a teen had a trapeze. It was SOOO terrifying but I also signed up for it every day 😂 So despite the scary aspects of it, its was super fun
I used to do gymnastics for almost 10 years so I feel like I’m pretty used to flipping and moving my body while in the air and swinging (albeit on a stationary bar), and now I just really want to try this because it looks so fun and challenging and I think I would have such a great time I also have been doing aerial hoop for the past few months and there’s a few skills where you hang by your knees so when they were practicing that part in the video my muscles on the back of my legs activated partially on their own in preparation/encouragement of what they were doing in the video so that was really funny 😂
did trapeze for a few years but never flying trapeze (more like what they did in the beginning to get the basics down) but watching this video made me miss it so bad and at the same time wanting to try flying trapeze
Would be interesting to see trapeze with gymnasts that do bars. They're similar but also different so it would be amazing to see them. Or maybe they too similar to do it? 🤔
it's pretty cool that most of the scateboarders tried to land on their feet when they dropped that first time, like if they were about to hit the ground/on their board
Aw I love this. I learned trapeze when I was like 4yo and then didnt do it again until my 20s so I totally feel their nerves watching this but its so fun!!!
Ok let me ask the instructor with the red shirt, were you one of the competitors on "The Floor is Lava"? I could swear you were one of the competitors who went on the show.
If i tried any of this i would snap my neck then my back then my arms then my legs then my mother would kill me for not being able to do my dancing for a long time-
It should have been poll dancers and aerialist and break dancers and skateboarders (footwork and grabbing your board is similar to using your hands). Trapeze should go with ski jumping
as someone who is scared of heights and absolutely terrified and disoriented when upside down, this is my perfect nightmare 😂 super cool to watch though!
Additional Info: all three instructors come out in the Netflix Show "Floor is Lava" Season 2 Episode Once Upon a Volcano. They are the last team in the episode to compete.
"Because this move is so straining on the catcher, everyone has only one attempt" lmao wut, this move is no more straining on the catcher than anything else (probably less so cause precision isn't as important with something so simple) -- maybe the catcher didn't feel like letting people go more than once, but I guarantee it was not because of any physical issue
Probs the catcher, specifically in this video, limits his physical activity to take care of his body. Everyone is different and the move may not be straining for other catchers but for him it does.
@@iamangelicazayas Yeah "the move" is catching -- there's nothing special about it, it is the base form of his job. If that's the case (which I doubt), he shouldn't be a catcher. It's like working in a warehouse and not being able to lift boxes.
Where is the correlation? Usually these have some type of correlation like the ice hockey and figure skater or the parkour and gymast. But these people do 2 completely different things...
I do aerial hoop and I find the knee hang difficult as is on a stationary hoop. Can't imagine doing it on a swinging trapeze. It requires very strong hamstrings.
