They mine it in Alberta also, I bought 75 kilos this fall, it is also availiable in 2000 kilo totes. Call Humalite, the research I did said that if your soil has become low in organic matter (like an older lawn) you would get the most benefit. Producers here sell into central america and any where its hot and organic matter decomposes quickly because of sufficient moisture. The dosage I was instructed was a kilogram or 2.3 pounds per thousand or 50 kilos per acre for the product I bought. It was omri listed and eco certified here in Canada. 62$ for 25 kilos here. I am going to wait and use it when I aerate. I am really glad you make all your videos but this one especially because this product is new to me, because of "The Grass Factor" also!
Hi Wayne...what company in Western Canada did you buy this product from? I'm in eastern Canada and would love to get my hands on some! Please can you message me!?
Been using this at start of spring ....not sure yet to be honest weve been a a little bit of a drought here for about a month ...i do water front yard so its still nice and green Great video pretty honest ...new subscriber after watching this
Put some holes around the yard and you can charge the golfers to golf there. Looks really nice. What type of grass variety do you have? I'm working on my parent's lawn and this would be a good soil amendment to bring up some of the micronutrients.
As always, a great video. Thanks for taking the time and effort to make these. I find them to be really informative, and not overly long and drawn out. Thanks again!
All the places I’ve checked including farm supply stores gave me no luck. All the places online seem to want at least $30 to ship. Finally found a place 10min from me that has 50lb bags of the down to earth brand granular humic acid for $30, which I can swallow since I only have about 2000 sq ft of turf. I also just bit on the next brand stuff and an electric sprayer which in the long run I think will be more cost effective as far as applying humic acid. Time will tell what results I can achieve..
its because you are probably watering sooner in spring, and later in the fall. also if you put down fert to make it grow in the fall.. I keep seeing people taling about Humic Acid. but I think that is in the organic ferts..
I have been using humic acid for years. I tell you... it is for real and is the real deal. It is not snake oil. Could be the watering before and later in the fall but if you saw the lawn you might think differently.
The % of humic per lb, oz.. matters.. Checkout the liquid version of Humic.. This looks cheaper per quart.. I used it and it boosted my lawn.. that I thought I was going to have to resod.. My neighbor also used it on his garden.. and it boosted his production. Humic Acid Fertilizer X75 by Humic Harvest | Organic Fertilizer, Plant Fertilizer, Liquid Fertilizer | Love Your Land with Regenerative Agriculture - 5 Gallons (640 oz) by Humic Harvest
Great insight on bringing to the surface another best kept secret for lawns like MILO. But when is best to apply this when your using MILO, or are both kind of the same? Appreciate more clarity what time of season we should do this with weed/feed and Milo? I heard only use this for brown dry areas/spots? Thanks!!
Hi Connor thank you for the explanations! Did you water it in after you applied it? How would you suggest adding it to flower beds? Thank you for mentioning that! I was wondering about it. Also, if some it pours into the sidewalk or driveway, do you sweep it back it to the grass? Thank you!
Great channel, thanks for the help! I just laid sod last week---starting to learn the lawn game---i applied fertilizer from IFA this week. Would you recommend I put an application of humate as well or should I wait?
Yes. Humate like 2 times a year. Spring and fall. If you have the money put it down more often than that. The more the better. It is best applied in conjunction with an application of fertilizer.
Nice..I did not know you can get it in pellet form.. kind of looks like Milorganite.. I just started using it in liquid concentrate. But that's a great price you get.. Wish I could find it around here.. Where do you get it from?? PS.. Love all your post..
Hey Conner, Glad I found your blog. Your Lawn tips are informative and motivating. I know this is off from this subject...I have Zeon Zoysia grass. My lawn needs to be maintained under 2 inches, preferably 1 to 1.5 inches. I use to have a reel mower, an orange tank of one that was hard to navigate especially up hills. Eventually, I had to sell it because I just could not keep up with its speed. Last year I purchased a Z rider, but the lawn suffered. My question....What type of Reel mower would you suggest that is easy to navigate, and is easy to service at home? I understand that many retired golf walk behind mowers are available on ebay, with many stating 30 to 50% reel life left. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
+Philip Suter. Thanks for watching. As for your question.... I am puzzled on how to help you. I only have a toro greensmaster greens mower that I use. For at home serviceability it's pretty easy and friendly but it's still not really easy if your not savvy. I actually take mine to a shop to have it sharpened. As for ease of use and ease of adjusting and such the trucut might be a good option. While the greens mower is easy for me to maneuver, there is definitely a learning curve to it. I wouldn't say that it's ultra easy to use at first. I really don't have any other experiences with other reel mowers. I had a mclane and don't personally recommend it. Reel mowers are not common where I live to they are not easy to come by. I live in a cool season zone where tall mowed grass is the norm. I'd personally recommend starting with a trucut bought for cheap Craigslist or similar. Greens mowers are ultimately better though.
I bought a tru cut from craigslist, excellent mower, will prob move up to a toro greensmaster next year, looking for better stripes, keep up the good work on the yard Connor
Humid acid is just processed brown coal.....farmers have been using it on corn since wwii....the best coal comes from Wyoming ....about a two hour drive from you....expensive compost
What is the ratio for putting down humic acid? How much should a 50lb cover? I am going to try this stuff out this year and see if helps make a difference in my lawn this year.
its good stuff. Do not expect overnight results. It is a long and slow process of yearly applications year after year. Put it down 2 times per year. More if you have the time and money.
Apparently the people who installed my lawn just put it right on top of rocks. Every year is a battle, even if we have a lot of rain. I need to be better about applying this stuff to it, maybe even some gypsum and playsand.
Yes I really like the spreader. I bought it off Craigslist for like $25 or something. It was a great deal. This one does not have any edge control guard on it.
I've never used humate. Can I use the granular in the summer up here in Northeast and on what schedule? I added milorganite on June 2nd. Also, does it need watering in?
you can use humate or humic acid anytime. It does not burn so use it whenever you want. watering it helps it to break down yes. Do not expect instant results. It is more of a soil conditioner so its a slow gradual process.
For the rest of your life. I'd say if you are going conservative maybe 1 or 2 granular apps a year or 1 or 2 sprays a year. If your a wild man then like sprayed like every month or so
I've read to put humic down once in the spring after the 2nd or 3rd mow. I read that it is supposed to help nutrients get re-absorbed into the soil. I've applied it two or three times now and I feel Milorganite was a better gift to my lawn.
What do you recommend for top dressing? Compost? Chicken compost? etc? And Fertilizer? 15-15-15 or Milorganite? Any other bio/solids or skip those? And where should I get granular humate? I've checked: 3x local farmers coops in Tennessee, home depot, lowes, amazon (expensive). Found this for $35 (www.kisorganics.com/products/live-earth-humates?variant=11827668481)
Try Site One or Ewing Irrigation stores. Top dressing? Depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Sand if you are try to level and smooth out turf. Compost if your trying to change composition of the soil profile. Fert? Put down whatever you can get. Bio solids are good as well. That bag of humate is the same stuff that I buy from the same humate mine producer. Google Live Earth in Emery UT and call them to ask them where you could buy it locally. I am the wrong guy to ask about fert. See one of my videos about fert.
So, ppl seem to b making all kinds of miracle claims for humic acid on lawns. I can't seem to find any definitive visual evidence of a test actually "proving" humic acid's effect on lawns. All I find is ppl using it and claiming its benefit. I wanna see a yard where it was applied in a few certain areas and the visual results on a weekly basis.
Jim, check out these videos. It may provide some insight. ruclips.net/video/V5CxqZd2HM0/видео.html (pay close attention to what he says starting at 13:15). I think this will answer your question. You need to listen to the entire video thought to better understand what it does how you can use it to your benefit. Like I've said, humic application will be a marathon and not a sprint for me. I don't expect any overnight miracles, which I think many are looking for. ruclips.net/video/rHaxi9D9NQ4/видео.html Also, since it won't do any damage to your lawn, you don't need to wait for anyone to do the test, test it yourself. Section off an area and put it down and you will see first hand for yourself.
If it's the Anderson Humic DG, it's the shipping cost that killing you; price of product is only $42. While both products are Humic acid, there are some differences - the Humic DG has 70% Humic vs 45% he used and it's not dusty like the one he uses. I wish I could find it locally. As it stands, I am only doing about 3lbs per 1k. For me, the humic application will be a marathon and not a sprint. I will put it down in the fall and spring time only. Update: I ended up putting down the entire bag over a 7500 sq' lawn. I will do this in the spring and the fall as I start incorporating organic fertilizer into my program.
Same here with the marathon! I will continue to look for this stuff locally as well. Just wondering how much better this is verses Lime which is much cheaper?
I'm hoping to find this stuff locally, too. I would not touch lime unless you have a soil test showing your exact PH level. Your levels may be good and you don't want to upset them. As a matter of fact, I would suggest you get a soil test anyway if you have not already done so - knowing is 1/2 the battle.
Hello Jake. Steve Regan has is for like 14$ They raised their price since that video. IFA also has it for 15$. The 2 products are the exact same products just in a different bag. IFA sells it for was less if you buy like a half pallet of it. Both of those stores may have raised their price another dollar as well. Last time I bought was fall 2017.
marco canchola. I am not sure where in California you can find it but this "natural guard fertilome humic, granular humic acid" is the same thing. www.fertilome.com/product/humic-granular-humic-acid-40lb . I buy it at a my local farm coop store. I'm not entirely sure where you could find it. I'm sure if you look around you'll find it. Look around at garden stores or nurseries. Not big box stores.
I have had 3. Mini Scotts one that Ryan Knor and Grass Daddy use. That was a goo spreader but way too small. Then I had the Spyker, then the Lesco. My current lesco has a lot of miles on it and I think its pretty well worn out. It needs some new parts. With the Lesco being in its current condition, I liked the Spyker better. I would however, say that the Lesco might be better if tuned up or if new.
I will give those a look! Your replies are so quick, love this channel! As a sidenote, I caught my 14 year old watching your entire collection of videos, he's made it apparent that we need to step up our game, and now he wants to go work over the baseball infield at the high school too! :) We may have an addict in the making here, lol.
suaverprc. This stuff is actually not fertilizer. It's an organic mined material called humic acid. I am not sure what the npk ratio is if it even has one.
+suaverprc. Oh yes.. Sorry I did. I fertilized with 20-0-0 ammonium sulfate. If you can find urea 46-0-0 use that and put it down about 2 lbs of product down per one thousand sq ft. This equates to one lb of nitrogen per sq ft. It's easily confused, but it's 2 lbs of actual product per 1k sq ft. To make it easy and if you don't want to think about it just get whatever you can and put it down at label rate and you'll be fine.
I wouldn't put fert down yet. I would put down a pre emergent. Step 1 from IFA has "crab grass" preventer which is a pre emergent. That needs to go down soon but it has fert which you don't want quite yet. Prodiamine or barricade is pre emergent but not fert. If you want to spray the Prodiamine that's best. Not sure if your set up to spray or not. Call site one in draper to see if they have pre emergent without fert. This has to be watered in. What i would recommend is putting down humate from IFA like right now. Put it down 10 lbs per 1000sq ft. Put it down heavy. That will help green up the lawn quick and will feed soil. Humate granular won't burn so put down as much as you want to afford. Put it down a lot. Like 2 times or 3 a year. Good for water retention and soil. Email me with further questions.
Look in description of my video "humate humic acid snow mold" it is a separate video. If you watch that video and read description it will tell you. Also try calling Ewing irrigation or site one. Ask for "soil for conditioner."
See this video and the description of that video. Call Site One or Ewing irrigation if that is in your area. Ask for "soil conditioner." ruclips.net/video/mwt3-mAehwc/видео.html
+D H I buy it from my local farm coop store IFA (Intermountain farmers association) . Fertilome sells it labeled HuMic humate granular. Look around at local garden nurseries and ask them where you can get it in granular form.
Love these videos you do a fantastic job and have amazing skills with that lawn!
and so do you!
They mine it in Alberta also, I bought 75 kilos this fall, it is also availiable in 2000 kilo totes. 62$ for 25 kilos here.

I am really glad you make all your videos but this one especially because this product is new to me, because of "The Grass Factor" also!
+Wayne Essar. Cool stuff. I'll keep buying it and putting it down. That grass factor video is an informative one for sure. Thanks for watching.
Please send the link to where you bought this. I would like to do the same 1kg / 1000sq. ft. $60 is not bad.
Hi Wayne...what company in Western Canada did you buy this product from?
I'm in eastern Canada and would love to get my hands on some! Please can you message me!?
Also wondering where in Canada I can buy this. US Shipping is way too high
Been using this at start of spring ....not sure yet to be honest weve been a a little bit of a drought here for about a month ...i do water front yard so its still nice and green
Great video pretty honest ...new subscriber after watching this
12-13$ for a 50 lb bag in 2018. i paid 30$ a bag in 2023. some places were charging 80$ a bag.
Humate is good for cottonwood trees, I see you have some. I bet you can’t wait for the mow Connor.😁👍👍
Put some holes around the yard and you can charge the golfers to golf there. Looks really nice. What type of grass variety do you have?
I'm working on my parent's lawn and this would be a good soil amendment to bring up some of the micronutrients.
Bro thats the nicest grass I ever seen.
Frank Y seriously!!
Connor, I'd bet your grass is greener than 90% of the county.
ColonelK0rn That is definitely a possibility. That is my goal at least.
As always, a great video. Thanks for taking the time and effort to make these. I find them to be really informative, and not overly long and drawn out. Thanks again!

$13 a bag? Where do I find that price?
If you lived down south in Carolina...with Carolina Clay as a soil you would understand better
I actually have bad clay soil. To me its a testament that Kentucky Bluegrass and Ryegrass can thrive in bad soil. Thanks for watching.
Bill Joel it helps clay soil. Works at a greenhouse in Colorado an all the soil is clay. This stuff works.
Hey where do people buy this humic? Is available at any big box stores?
Love your video - thank you! you mentioned you pay $12/13 for 50lb bag - where do you buy it(?) as I see prices around $70 for 50lb.
if you knew too it wouldn't be 13$ anymore
I buy it at a local agriculture store. Look for soil conditioner. I pay $20-$25 a bag.
Great channel, thanks for the help! I just laid sod last week---starting to learn the lawn game---i applied fertilizer from IFA this week. Would you recommend I put an application of humate as well or should I wait?

Mike Dauth. Thanks Mike. I get the granular humate from my local farm store coop. Try that kind of store. Same place you'd buy urea.

I live in Va and online shipping would kill me! Suggestions on where I could purchase this? Lowe’s or Home Depot doesn’t carry it.
Just go to the nursery nearest you.
Humid acid is just processed brown coal.....farmers have been using it on corn since wwii....the best coal comes from Wyoming ....about a two hour drive from you....expensive compost
I should find where that is at and go out there for a visit.
Couldn’t find the grass factor video linked. Curious on if recommendations have changed on granular humic.
Yeah maybe so
What is the ratio for putting down humic acid? How much should a 50lb cover? I am going to try this stuff out this year and see if helps make a difference in my lawn this year.
its good stuff. Do not expect overnight results. It is a long and slow process of yearly applications year after year. Put it down 2 times per year. More if you have the time and money.
Live Earth makes/mines great products here in central Utah. Great channel, new subscriber here!
I buy their granular humic acid humate. I apply it several times a year. Have been for a few years.
Apparently the people who installed my lawn just put it right on top of rocks. Every year is a battle, even if we have a lot of rain. I need to be better about applying this stuff to it, maybe even some gypsum and playsand.
Where do you buy it from ?
Pssh.... walking around on that beautiful lawn with that long mustache.
aguyandhiscomputer. Lol. Yep... The mustache is always so controversial. Thanks watching.
Seeing the snow in the roof valley gave me anxiety
Pelletized...nice...is it a little pricey that way? How much does that 50lbs bag run for?
$12 per 50lb bag
You should do side by side comparaison
I should.
Love your shirt
How do you like the spreader? Does it have any type of edge control?
Yes I really like the spreader. I bought it off Craigslist for like $25 or something. It was a great deal. This one does not have any edge control guard on it.
I've never used humate. Can I use the granular in the summer up here in Northeast and on what schedule? I added milorganite on June 2nd. Also, does it need watering in?

Connor Ward how much lb per sq ft should be applied
It will tell you in the bag but I think I apply it at 10# per 1000 ft
What type of grass is that? Looks like a putting green it’s so low. Creeping bent?
It is Kentucky Bluegrass and Perennial Ryegrass grown from seed.
How often should we put the humic down for?
For the rest of your life. I'd say if you are going conservative maybe 1 or 2 granular apps a year or 1 or 2 sprays a year. If your a wild man then like sprayed like every month or so

Granular humate, Liquid kelp, what else to make my lawn good. Trying to find all the answers.

what does it smell like does it smell?
Where is your supplier at? I’m in Utah as well.

Yes. I am looking for a few bags.
What are you looking for? Steve Regan for fert and humate humic acid. Or IFA. Milorganite... Bomgars in Preston. Think... Napoleon dynamite.
Haha awesome thanks Connor!

How many times should I put down humic acid?? Once a month??
Yeah I would and am. At the least I would say 2 times per year. 1 in spring and 1 in the fall.
Connor Ward thanks so much man. Appreciate your content!
So it’s been 2 years, can you tell any diff since using the Humic acid?
where do you get this product for $13 for 50lb bag?
Price has gone up to 15$. Steve Regan or IFA
What kind of fertilizer did you put down and what was N-P-K ratio?
suaverprc. This stuff is actually not fertilizer. It's an organic mined material called humic acid. I am not sure what the npk ratio is if it even has one.
Connor Ward Im sorry. I though you mentioned you had fertilized recently and that's what I was referring to.
+suaverprc.
How often do you use 20-0-0? I’m in Utah is now a good time? I follow the IFA program but wanting to enhance if possible.
Email me with further questions.
where can I get some?
Look in description of my video "humate humic acid snow mold" it is a separate video. If you watch that video and read description it will tell you. Also try calling Ewing irrigation or site one. Ask for "soil for conditioner."
were did you pay $12 dollars for a 50 lb bag?
Steve Regan
Where can we get it
See this video and the description of that video. Call Site One or Ewing irrigation if that is in your area. Ask for "soil conditioner." ruclips.net/video/mwt3-mAehwc/видео.html
That shit cost $85 a 40lb bag up here in Canada, fak.
Where did you purchase the humate?
+D H I buy it from my local farm coop store IFA (Intermountain farmers association) . Fertilome sells it labeled HuMic humate granular. Look around at local garden nurseries and ask them where you can get it in granular form.

Nice grass but your lawn is pretty boring. Plant some trees or flower beds or something 🤔
