I worked at Hiltis repair center many years ago. I have repaired hundreds, if not thousands of 504’s. Even if it’s many years ago, i still remember every small o-ring, spring, bearing and retaining rings, and what goes where. I even remember the smell of the old grease and oil 😁 Great job restoring an old classic 👍
I've done this to a few old tools at work that were ready for the bins. Just like you, I do it for fun and to see old things brought to life again with a little care and attention. The guys at work seem to think what I'm doing is pointless, but there are enough tools in the world and not enough people around to care for them.
I am working with that tool since I was a kid. My father bought it when we started renewing our home inside, outside, the garden,... and we even used it for digging holes in the ground. We were so proud of it. "Get the Hilti!" :) (Later it got a little wired when we also got a TE5 which we then called the "Hilti for drilling".) Now I am working on my own bought house. Finally (just before I finished breaking a wall) it stopped hammering. Finally? I hooe not and thanks to this excellent and more or less slow enough video I believe I am able to get it into pieces, cleaned and hoepefully identify whats wrong. I am probably going to spend some time and money to get it working again. Hoping for many more years of hammering with this tool. Thanks for this video, it's giving me hope and helping me. Also found a drawing on the Internets, showing the parts for assembly.
You are another version of Bob Ross to me. It's amazing to watch. I am just surprised you know how to take all those tools apart - and that you manage to put them together afterwards. Love it.
Another great restoration ,Hilti do make quality tools that last for decades , i have a TE18 that is all metal cased and still works as good as when it was new 45 years old now.....!
I worked on many of these! Brings back memories! I worked in Hilti’s tool repair department from 1983-1998. I lot of their tools required special jigs to disassemble and reassemble. Now there are battery powered breakers that have more power than the TE504.
Thank you for this video. Fascinating. I was so happy that all those parts worked, as I can't imagine how astoundingly expensive Hilti spare parts must be!
Aplausos!!!!
Witam i pozdrawiam!Super wykonana renowacja mloto-wiertarki,wygląda jak nowa,będzie dalej służyć, cierpliwość daje dobry efekt, dobre Video, tak trzymać..
Kind of. Depends on the price. If it takes me 3 hours to fix im gonna go buy, because I bill 60 per hour its not worth my time to mess with sometimes. And sometimes it is worth it
and Hilti is one of the few Manufacturers which not only build sturdy things which can be repaired, they even provide replacement parts and service for it for decades. You could probably send that one to Hilti and they will fix it. We had several old (and new) Hilti Power tools at work, and some of them are 30 Years and older, and Hilti still repairs them. They come back basically brand new (they work like brandnew, don't look like it of course :P)
@24:10 You don't lubricate the inner parts at alll... but at the end of the video you put lubricant on the thread of the screw that holds the handle? the machine will not last long like that
Crazy, we threw about 5 old "knackered " breakers out a few months ago in work. If only we had your skills. What is your background ?? You know every make of tool out there 🤯🤯😂😂
I also have such a hobby and I think it is exciting but, In Dk it is very difficult to get spare parts, as new is cheaper and the factory is usually abroad. and there are few or no companies to buy from. But there are the thrills to work with and the good memory you have. I take pictures continuously.
Gear Show you do such fine work and I am a huge fan. I normally really like your paint work. I know this one was particularly dilapidated, but I would have liked to have seen you polish up the housing a bit. Maybe high-build primer the plastic, then paint; and do a couple of pieces of the metal to high reflective finish. Still a great video...
So, I have to honestly say, I'm already very impressed and don't know if I can remember how everything belongs together again. Let alone take it apart so that it doesn't break. But I would still say it's more of a repair than a restoration. Often there are still paint residues on them, rust, metal is not polished and the plastic has too many scratches. I already noticed about the plastic with the yellow cordless screwdriver from De Walt. Still, it goes up. Because unfortunately too much is thrown away. Best wishes from Germany!
You got it for tree, otherwise it is just not worth it, and the amount of time you spent fixing it is higer than actuall cost of a new one, so it is a pure love to this job from your side. Problem with today's tools is, lots of plastic, and it is visible that small scratches stayed even after restauration. I use those babies every day :) ,but great video and good job !

What was probably assigned to the scrap pile is now a perfectly good tool thanks to your skill and know how. Great video 👍
You're welcome, thank you!
Hypnotic video, my type of meditation. Thanks a lot for filming and putting it all together.

This seems like the only time this old hammer drill has seen some love in all its life. I hate seeing things get abused.
