Say you you have 7k mana, that’s only 350 mana extra for an entire fight, about 1 spell. 5% extra mana has its niche uses in raiding and healing but 9/10 Shield Specialization is best and 10/10 while levelling.
I agree, you said that it’s important to have 1h+shield with you at all times, and I agree with you completely on that, but choosing 5% mana over improving your survivability betrays that
Between Orc and Tauren, it comes down to preference, -Tauren has a bit more hp and an ondemand cc which shaman lacks -and orc stun resist is nice for all the excessive stuns in the game
