@M M additionally, this wouldn't be the first time H.I. dreams become reality/premonition. He dreamed about the biker coming into town before having any knowledge of him or who he is (it's sorta a case of magic realism) so I also believe this will also eventually come true
I’m sitting at my ex-husband’s grave, having just buried him. Whenever we made it through a hard time, and he wanted to encourage me, he would say, “Me and Ed, we can be good, too.” It’s surprising how poignant this silly movie could be.
The soundtrack for this song was so nice. I like how they themed it off the song she sung to the baby and meanwhile he's having a nightmare for all nightmares lol
As I'm watching this I'm starring at my 2 month old crying my eyes balls out of emotion because she's my biggest treasure of my life and i wanna be around her forever
I got to watch this scene tonight, holding the hand of my boyfriend. We've been through tough times, too. It's nice to dream that the future can be better than the past.
One day I’ll have a family, and all will be good and wonderful in this world. This ending reminds me of what I hope so dearly to have one day. Some days it’s hard being alone, but this ending to such a silly movie gives me just the right amount of hope to keep going and not give up.
I cannot help but cry every time I've seen this. One of the most beautiful and moving stories of all time. ❤️ It perfectly captures the American spirit and dream. Strange Nic Cage has a way of getting to me. This, Mandy, Con Air, all have made me cry.
Dylan I'm 42 years old having buried my parents and grandparents and both my sisters and my brother. I raised 3 little girls who are my family and heart for 15 years. I just had to say goodbye to them when there mother found them a new dad and moved out of state. I listen to this video all the time and as strong as I am I still can't help but to break down and cry.
The original to this song playing while he’s talking is “Down in the willow garden” She sang it to Nathan Jnr in the movie as well…beautiful but very creepy song actually. Go check out the lyrics.
The elder couple that embrace each other while looking upon their family reminds me of my grandparents looking over us as a family. Whole. Together. Loving. Happy. Maybe it was Utah.
I believe I have heard my mom and my sister say that very line, about 9 million times since we first saw this movie in the 80s when it first came out on V. H s lol, I even sometimes just for shits and giggles.Just look at somebody and say, son, you got a panty on your head😅😅
Me too. He was gonna be at least a college football star, probably an NFL WR, but you could see he'd be a very Brian Bossworth esque personality too. HI recognized when not many would have lol.
This scene kind of strikes home with me. I’m fortunate that I was able to have at least one child who I love to pieces. My wife had a lot of complications with the pregnancy and unfortunately we didn’t think it would be safe for her to try to have any more kids. We always had our hearts set on two. But, at the same time, we do kind of have our hands full with our one child. She is slightly autistic and has ulcerative colitis. So, she is a lot of work. I’m thinking maybe it was meant to be. I don’t know….maybe it was Utah. lol
The beginning theme song is actually pete seeger playing ode to joy by beethoven. The song she sings to Nathan and the song that is playing as sort of AA wind up lullaby, kind of is called down in the Willow garden. It's about 300 years old, give or take. It is also known as rose Connolly. She is the girl in the song that is murdered. The song is technically What they call a murder ballad. There's a lot of different versions. The closest to the way she is singing it. It would probably be by Ralph, Stanley, or The Chieftains. That's a pretty close one. But that melody has stayed in my head since I first watched this movie when I was a kid in the 80s. I hope that it's the day I do find Myself. Dying, as i'm slowly fading out of existence, I hope I can hear that melody to see me off
Just the comments everyone posted, funny how this scene touched everyone. Me also, apart of being a very funny movie this ending comes out of nowhere and touching, very.. very well written . I can say the best scene of this movie for me.
My wedding is going to have the "Song of the future" playing as my forever wife walks down the aisle. I am going to bawl like a baby too, as she walks, so beautiful, just like the first time i fell for her, and just like the way i fall for her every time i look at her. Beautiful, and amazing in every way possible. My soulmate.
Raising Arizona is a total cartoonish delirium, but it has one of the most emotional, thoughtful and fascinating endings of the History of cinema, full of light, understanding and hope for the family, the dreams and the future, something strange for the Coen's dark vision of the world...

I live in Utah. My best friends are Ex-Mormon. Their parents still are Mormon. Very stern, but incredibly loving of their children and friends. I think you’re right.
This ending is always so touching, make me cry every time
He speaks for all of us who one day hope we deserve or have earned the privilege of a loving family. Such a beautifully written ending.
I agree with you; very nice comment
Oh my god, i did not expect this as an ending. Heartbreakingly beautiful.
I know, who would wanna live in Utah?
The ending shows that Hi and Ed did end up having a big family after all.
@M M additionally, this wouldn't be the first time H.I. dreams become reality/premonition. He dreamed about the biker coming into town before having any knowledge of him or who he is (it's sorta a case of magic realism) so I also believe this will also eventually come true
I saw and loved this movie back in the day, but now I understand it on another level, with...... maybe it's Utah. Such beautiful writing.
@@AIWFNW reference to the " Mormons". LDS Church.
I remember hearing this music and seeing this scene for the first time and almost crying over it. So moving.
When I’m about to pass, this music wouldn’t to bad to listen to.
Cage was brilliant in this film. So compassionate.

That's awesome that he would say that. Great line.
much love
Yet so relevant….
Or maybe it was Utah.
Did you two divorce before he passed?

True treasure of what we have now and what we will leave behind after we are gone...

I enjoyed the whole movie.but the last was fantastic.i too cried
It's a very touching ending with the music and all that.

One of the few endings that made me cry.

RAISING ARIZONA is masterpiece and remains one of my favorite films. The end is particularly poignant.

Can someone explain this to me??? Is it because the joke is that all of this takes place in an "entirely different world" kinda concept orrrrrr
@@ericsteven8449 I think it's just a pun.
He says, “If not Arizona, then a land not far away.” Utah isn’t far from Arizona. It’s sort of a joke.

All those kids in the end. They must've converted to mormonism lol

One of the most beautiful sequences in all of film 😢😢😢
Best movie. Need to see it again soon.

Haven't watched this classic in approximately 3 months
though luckily!
I got shivers when she said “Dad.”

Raising Arizona soundtrack “Dream of the future”
It’s an instrumental to the song Ed sings earlier as a lullaby (it’s a murder song) called Down in the Willow Garden, or Rose Connelly.
