Sleep Training Your 6 Month Old: 5 Essential Steps
Is your 6 month old's sleep off track? Is he fighting bedtime or naps? This isn’t surprising, given how much development is happening. Sometimes it’s the 6 month sleep regression causing problems. Other times it might be a sleep schedule issue or that your 6 month old won’t sleep through the night.
Consider this to be your 6 month old baby sleep guide. It walks you through the best sleep training advice for your baby.

Let's go over my 5 steps to sleep training your 6 month old.
Step 1: Create a sleep friendly space for your baby. Once your baby starts to roll or shows signs of becoming mobile it's time to ditch the DockATot, the Rock'n'Play or the bassinet as sleep spaces. The reason why is the crib is the safest place for your baby to sleep especially if your baby is moving around and rolling. Your baby needs the space to roll around and get herself in comfortable positions, which is an essential part of your baby resettling herself during the night when she wakes. Which is a critical part of sleep training.
Step 2: Sleep training begins at bedtime. When we're beginning sleep training we always focus on only one aspect of your baby's sleep at a time. And the reason why is if you try to fix naps and bedtime and night wakings at the same time, you're gonna end up with a really
overtired and cranky baby that refuses to sleep. Instead we always work on bedtime first because this is the part of the day where your baby is the most tired of any other part of the day so she's more likely to comply with changes to her sleep routine at this time.
Your baby's bedtime routine should include a bath, a massage, reading books, feeding and singing lullabies.
Step 3: Reduce night wakings. Once you have your bedtime routine going well, then it's time to start working on reducing or eliminating your baby's night wakings. Most 6 month olds need only 1 or 2 night feeds.
Night weaning and sleep training really go hand-in-hand. I find that they work best when done together. When you teach your baby to settle himself to sleep at bedtime, then he'll naturally know how to resettle himself during the night when he wakes. If you put your baby down in the crib at bedtime at half asleep then he's really not getting used to settling himself to sleep. And the reason why this is important is whenever he stirs or wakes during the night he's going to continue needing your help to fall back asleep. This could happen 4, 5 times. So what you need to do is practice on putting your baby into the crib awake so, to fall asleep on his own. A good indicator that your baby is awake enough is whether or not his eyes are open.
    Step 4: Work on naps.
Once your baby is going down easily at bedtime and sleeping well at night then it's time to work on naps. So a 6 month old's awake times are 2-3 hours. And what this means is that your baby needs to nap every 2-3 hours after waking up from his last nap. So a really easy way to handle this is just to give your baby 2.5 hour awake times throughout the day.
But it doesn't work for every baby and if you'd like a little bit more of a structured approach you could do the following: Your baby's first awake time of the day can be 2 hours, the second awake time of the day can be anywhere between 2-2.5 hours, the third awake time of the day can be 2.5 hours and the last awake time of the day can be anywhere from 2.5-3 hours. You really have to see what works for your individual baby.
Step 5: Wake your baby up at the same time every morning. Waking up at the same time every day really sets your baby's body clock and it makes your schedule fall a little bit easier every day. Now a great way to decide what time to wake your baby up is to write down the time that she naturally wakes up for seven days in a row. Then pick a time that falls right in the middle of these times and that's your new wakeup time. Your 6 month old baby can learn to settle themself to sleep and sleep long stretches at night. All it takes is a consistent sleep routine and following the sleep training tips that we've just gone over.

Hi Jilly, my almost 6 month old hates being put to bed. His awake time is 2-3 hours, he takes 30-60 min naps. Bedtime is hard despite me following a routine. Once he is laid in his crib, he screams and only stops when he is held or rocked. Repeated attempts to put him down drowsy but awake result in more crying. I have resorted to feeding to sleep which works 75% of the time but obviously I would like for baby to learn to self settle. Thanks for your help

Thank you so much for your videos! I followed your daily schedule and blueprint. My son went from sleeping in our room all the time and he is now sleeping in his bed. He would wake up three to four times wanting to nurse. Last night after following this for 3 nights he didn't wake up to nurse at all. He has learned to fall asleep on his on now. He is also taking longer naps. ❤

My wife and I will try your methods. We are really struggling with our 6m old right now. I have a great rocking technique that gets him to sleep but he is getting to heavy for my wife's overnight shift/rocking. All he does is cry and cry for about 3 hrs a night while she try's rocking him to sleep.
We need to break this habit of rocking him to sleep and have him fall asleep on his own. We've tried laying him down drowsy and we always cave to his crying.
One more issue we are having is him waking himself up when he rolls face down but it's most likely the self soothing that he needs to learn, that you mentioned.
    Thanks for the tips

I want to discuss sleep and general “transitioning” for my second baby coming in the fall.
With my 1st, I coslept and breastfed for 2 years. I liked having her near me because I wanted to encourage that instinct and bonding especially after she was literally part of my body for 9 months... However, I struggled with knowing when to “transition” to the next phase and I found each transition was SO agonizing for all of us.
    Examples:
    > when to transition from being with mom (co-sleeping or bassinet for example), to say a CRIB + if baby is right next to mom in whatever capacity and they dry or wake are you grab right away or put arm on them right away doesn’t this make them dependent on you for that instant response (not saying it’s bad) just posing question of - does it make that later transition of them self soothing etc more difficult when you suddenly aren’t responding and what does this all look like. I mean at 3am I wasn’t into letting my 1st scream and scream when she woke so that my hard working husband would then also wake up.
    > when and HOW to cut off night BREASTMILK so that it’s easier and HOW/ what to do to get them to sleep and no longer be dependent on those night feedings? I felt like there was yelling and arguing because my 1st was a toddler when I finally took the milk away at night(2yrs). I couldn’t handle not getting any sleep after 2 years of giving my first my all. 🥹
Things I have been told so far:
    > I have learned/heard that not letting a baby fall asleep ON you if you’re breastfeeding so they don’t associate “I only sleep if I am on mommy” is a good place to start
    > putting them in a crib when they are tired but not yet asleep so they “fall” asleep in their physical space (crib)
    > that using crib for naps right away when they are a newborn will more easily develop the habit as opposed to car sleeping more than a crib or a side sleeper more than a crib..
    > keeping a lot of noise so they can sleep deep in noise as opposed to being a 👻 when they are asleep. My first is such a light sleeper and we never made a peep!
Sorry this is long winded. I don’t even know what my exact questions are. I just need a better flow and plan to be confident in this second time around that May have worked for several others. So please help! I am more open minded than I used to be! Any little nuance you can share I’d love to hear!!

I want to try this method of getting him to settle himself to sleep at night. What time do you recommend putting him to bed? Also, we have fed-to-sleep since he was born. How much time should I allow between feeding him and putting him down to sleep (awake)? Also, if he cries, how long should he be allowed to cry before I go to him?

My daughter is 6 months old. When we Came back from the hospital (newborn) she just automatically started to take longer naps at day and night. First couple of nights she slept about 4 hours straight before waking up for feed. Then it just went to 5 h, 6h 7h… suddenly she was sleeping 11 hours straight through the night. We just kissed her goodnight and sang one song, put her in the crib, and she fell asleep herself without any help. It was amazing. Until she turned about 4 month old. Then it started to get ”bad”. She started waking up at night and wanted to be fed. Now at six month ( she is rolling like crazy) she still wakes up, so we put her in her babynest in her crib so she can stop rolling and become more ”peaceful”.. it works but she keeps waking up 2-3 times sometimes more, for feeding. I feel like she is ”addicted” of the baby nest now because when we try without it she just roll like crazy. We have to also rock her or lay beside her and ”tap” on her chest until she is like sleeping or deep sleeping Then we move her and her in the baby nest to her crib. Our nurse says we should give her Water when she wakes up at night, so she can understand that night is not for eating but she cries like crazyyyy if we give water instead of milk.. what should we do? Please help even though im late and u posted this 2 years ago.. anyone else experince same thing? Sorry for bad english , not my first or second language❤️

I have to add that when we lay her to naps in daytime she sleeps with in 10-15 minutes, sometimes 5-10 minutes. At night time the whole process (reading book, singing etc) takes about 15-30 minutes.. it depends on her mood and ofcourse ours aswell. So it does not take that long 💜

Hello! Thank you for reaching out to us.
Sounds like your baby is a natural sleeper, that's amazing!
I would like to start off by saying that the AAP recommends nothing but a fitted sheet over the mattress in your baby's crib. Anything else is considered unsafe, unfortunately! I understand that you use the baby nest because of the rolling, but please see this article on safe sleep:
      www.babysleepmadesimple.com/create-safe-sleep-space/
Something super safe that can help contain your baby and help them sleep better is a sleep sack. Please read our sleep sack tips here:
      www.babysleepmadesimple.com/best-baby-toddler-sleep-sacks/
Around the 4 month mark, baby's sleep matures, which is usually when sleep regressions start to appear. Sounds like that's what happened with your LO!
The best way to get your baby sleeping amazingly from 5 months and onwards is by joining our program, 21 Days to Peace and Quiet. We can help you with anything baby sleep related, and ensure great sleep long-term. This will help your baby bounce back way easier from sleep regressions, as well.

I have tried/am trying to find a method to help him sleep.. I have tried what you have mentioned in this video (putting him down when he starts getting tired. 2.5 hours. Putting him in his sleep sack, singing him a lullaby) but I haven't had much success.. I have tried lying with him and singing a lullaby but he just screams.. He cried for a whole hour despite me lying with him, and so I gave that method up. It was painful to see him so upset. I also attempted the CIO method.I only lasted 4 minutes outside of the room before I just couldn't bare his cries anymore. It feels unnatural for me and I am scared he will develop anxiety. I'm quite at a loss as to what I should do from here.. I would greatly appreciate your advice and any tips you could offer me🙏.

We have been sleep training for about 3 weeks now and while my son goes to sleep sleepy but awake he sleeps around 2 hours at the start of the night (7pm) then wakes every hour after that until he gets up at 6:30am. He does settle himself back to sleep within 5 minutes but is there a way of helping him to sleep longer? He takes 3 naps a day (as he is 5 and a half months old lasting between 30 minutes to 2 hours) I follow the feed, wake, sleep routine so I am not nursing him to sleep and we as of this week have weaned him off all night feeds. In the evening I do breastfeeding, then 1-2 tsp of carrots or sweet potato, nappy change, massage, book with a cuddle then straight down in his crib when he shows sleep signs such as yawning and rubbing his eyes. We do morning bath time as I have a three year old that follows this routine. As soon as I put him down he cries for around 10 minutes and then he goes to sleep. I would just love for him to sleep more than an hour at a time throughout the night but I'm not sure how to help him do this.

My 6 month baby has been sleeping at night from 8:30 to 8:30 or 9:00 for a couple of months with out having to go through all the crying that I went through with my son. For the last 7 days she has taken very short 15 to 20 minute naps and waking up 4 or 5 times a night. To night she has already been up 3 times and it is 12:30am. I put her in her crib for naps and at bed time after nursing. I go through the same routine that you suggest and that I used with my son. She is a good baby and has never cried unless something is really wrong. She grunts when hungry instead of crying and will wait for you to get to her even if it takes awhile she will just grunt again, I don’t know what to do I know she is teething but that doesn’t:’ bother her enough for her to cry during the day and I do give her teething rubs at night. What can I do? I have a 22 month old so I need to get some sleep and since she is not even taking long naps I can’t lay down and sleep when he takes his nap because she is crying and calling mama. I would appreciate any help you might give.

Hello and thanks for our message! Definitely make sure that you are following the proper awake times. In the guide, it states that a 6 month old should be taking roughly 3 naps and following awake times of 2-3 hours. I would try an awake time of 2 hours before nap 1, 2.5 hours before nap 2, and 3 hours before bedtime. See if this helps! I am glad your LO is sleeping SO well overnight :) Alyssa, BSMS Support Team

What do we do my baby sleeps at 6-7 pm, sleeps well till 23-24, then wakes up for a long time. Sometimes wakes at 1, 2 am and 3 and 5. And drinks every time she woke up. She’s gotten used to drinking to sleep. And by 5:30-6. She couldn’t stand staying in bed or bedroom any more. Wakes up easily if there is any movement and sound( she sleeps in our bed, sometimes in co sleeper bed ). During the day, she can last without drinking for 3-4-5 hours. And refused to drink even possibly hungry probably because she doesn’t want to sleep( as she associates drinking to sleeping). Super curious and just want to play.

My question is , if i start sleep training at night , at her nap do i still breastfeed her to sleep ?

You advice might work for a stay-at-home mom but what about parents who work or send their kids to daycare? My little one is 6 months and is sent to daycare 9hrs a day/ 5 days a week. I have to wake him up and can’t let him decide his morning. I also can’t work on a nap routine or nap schedule. Those are out of my control. Any advice for a family like mine?

    • @Babysleepmadesimple
      @Babysleepmadesimple  4 года назад

Sarah, an appropriate bedtime for a 6 month old is between 6:30-8:00pm. I would put your little one down at the same time every night and wake him up at the same time every morning for consistency and to try and encourage 11-12 hours of night sleep. Nap routines are out of your control. I would see how he is napping at daycare. Chat with the daycare and see how often is he napping and how he does in the napping environment. It is very normal for babies to have a bedtime on the earlier side if they don't nap as well at daycare! Let me know if you have any questions! Alyssa, BSMS Support Team

Hi my 6 month old goes to bed around 11/12 and wakes up between 4-6 AM , goes back to sleep and wakes every 1.5 - 2 hours after all the morning. This puts me in a snooze state all morning and not proper sleep. Would you think if I put her to bed earlier, she will sleep longer through the night or even all until the morning? I refrained from doing so because i worried she will still wake up after that several hours, only it would be earlier in the night since she would goto bed earlier.. thats my fear if i move bed time earlier

Thank you for the advice! What do you do however when your baby starts screaming the second you put them in their crib?
Our 6 month-old was a great sleeper, great at putting herself to sleep and then one day she just stopped. We kind of fell into the trap of facility and dropped the bedtime routine, because she was always falling asleep when nursing. So now we have to rock her to sleep and most of the time she wakes up and screams when we gently put her down. She's also awake pretty much every hour and mommy's exhausted (she does go back to sleep easily though, but not on her own) 😭
I've just started the PUPD method and will try waking her up at 7:30am, which is difficult when you're not sleeping at night! I'd like to have a structure but her naps are super unpredictable, ranging anywhere from 30 min to 2h (on me).

Hi! My daughter is 5 months old. She wakes up every hour at night. She has really bad reflux. However, it is better now. When she is placed down she turns her head and then wakes up. We use to carry her because she never slept or laid down. We are so exhausted and want her to sleep longer. Now she only sleeps for an hour at the most.

Is it common after a regression that babies sleep can improve? Ie longer naps and longer stints at night?

    • @Babysleepmadesimple
      @Babysleepmadesimple  3 года назад

Yes! The most important thing is that babies learn how to fall asleep independently too. After the 4 month regression and when babies turn 5 months old, they are able to fall asleep independently and self-soothe. This is often the very best way for them to STTN and resettle. We cover all of this in our 21 Days to Peace and Quiet program. Happy to answer any questions if you are interested. Alyssa, BSMS Support Team

I'm trying really hard to wean her but she is so attached when it's time for nap time and bed time. I've tried so much and she still isn't sleeping through the night and when she wakes it takes about 45 minutes or more to get her back down. Hi there Jessica. Thank you for your kind words and I'm sorry you're struggling. Know that it's never too late to change a habit, we're here to help.
Please check out our 6 month old sleep guide. It will let you know what to expect from your baby's sleep, and how to get her sleeping better day and night. Here's the link --> www.babysleepmadesimple.com/sleep-training-6-month-old
Breastfeeding to sleep is natural and completely normal. In fact, it’s not a problem until it “becomes a problem” and you’re having to get up and feed your baby back to sleep many times at night.
It won't necessarily be "easy" in that your little one may get upset learning a new way of falling asleep, BUT a few days of teaching independent sleep habits will lead to YEARS of peaceful and happy sleep for everyone.
There are several ways of teaching your LO a new way of falling asleep. The best approach will depend on your LO’s temperament and your parenting preferences. This is what we help parents do everyday in our program, 21 Days to Peace & Quiet, which is currently on sale.
21 Days to Peace & Quiet has step-by-step information on how you can reduce, or fully wean, your baby’s night feeds.
Jilly also includes information on protecting the breastfeeding relationship while reducing night feeds. It’s totally possible to stop breastfeeding at night but continue to nurse during the day, for as long as you want. She includes information on protecting your milk supply.

When I put my baby to his bed not sleeping, it will do fallowing steps:
    a) touch his eyes because of tiredness and cry eventually
    b) cry right away when put down
    c) look around interrested, get bored eventually and cry.
He will never ever fall asleep, even with pacifier, only if we bottle feed him in bed and give him pacifier right after, he will pass out from all the milk sometimes, but mostly fallowed by a) shortly.
Now, my baby boy is a cryer, he cries whenever he isn't happy 100%. And boy - he cries a lot, very hysterically, extremely loudly and longer we keep him cry, longer it takes to calm him down. He does that since birth.
He also wakes up every 40 to 120 minutes last three months, mostly wakes up crying. Where do I go from there on the sleep training? I'm starting to be really desperate, zombie-like and migrenes most of the time.

Hi! Oh no, sorry to hear that! It sounds exhausting! I would recommend starting with our age base sleep guide which will cover all the basics and help manage expectations at this stage. Implement the guide for 2 weeks straight and you should see improvements.
It is often useful to teach your LO how to fall asleep independently, this will lead for them STTN and thus improving sleep all around! I think this might be the reason of short sleep and multiple wakings as your LO is craving for help to fall back asleep. If you'd like more detailed assistance on how to teach your LO this skill, our program 21 Days to Peace&Quiet walks you through the steps.
I will link the info below. I'd be happy to answer any additional questions about the program. Good luck mama! / Leena, BSMS Support Team

@@Babysleepmadesimple So we gave a try to the "cry it out" method, so far so good, he sleeps in 3-4 h intervals, yesterday even 6 hours. It was hard for us but actually the crying continued only for about two days, now he lies in his bed until he falls asleep, for about twenty minutes unless he falls asleep while feeding. However it's kinda scary now, to see him just lie there on the camera, desperately trying to sleep, not weeping at all. Like he gave up on us or something. It's what he needs, I know, but feels like we failed him. I'm not sure if we didn't broke him (I'm joking ofc, but actually it scares me...).

@@michaelavorlova8753 I understand! However that is exactly what you could expect :) you've done a great job! You wouldn't expect an adult to immediately fall asleep when the head hits the pillow right;)? On average, it takes a toddler/baby 10-15 minutes to fall asleep and same for an adult without stress and other factors. So it is normal that your LO takes his time and the important thing is that he falls asleep independently. There will be times when he might babble, stand up and sit back down and that is just part of a very normal developmental phase, but as long as your LO is not upset, leave him be :) I am 100% he is not traumatized in any way:) It can be very scary for a parent but you've already been through the toughest part and it really seems like you've done a great job :) be proud mama and keep going :)! / Leena, BSMS Support Team

Some nights he still wakes up by 2 hours rotation but he will fall asleep quickly and usualy by his own. I'm very grateful!
Also, for other people wondering: Some friends-mothers did frown upon this method and told me "they would never do that to their children" like I'm some kind of a monster, but quite honestly, they don't need to as far as I know, so do the best for your kid, not for other people kids. :)

    • @Babysleepmadesimple
      @Babysleepmadesimple  4 года назад

Hi! If your baby rolls onto his tummy and gets frustrated because he can’t roll into a more comfortable position, you may need to help him onto his back temporarily.
This is normally a very short phase (about a week.) Give baby lots of open floor time during the day to practice rolling and build strength.
      It should get easier then!
The Zipadee Zip sleep suit or the Love to Dream (with the arms out) are GREAT swaddle transition sleep sacks.
They’re a bit snug, which swaddled babies love, but are safe for rolling.
It’s best to just go “cold turkey” and not swaddle anymore and put your baby in one of these sleep sacks. Also, place baby in the crib with his feet touching one end.
Many babies sleep better when they can feel some boundaries of their sleep environment.
What’s just as important is teaching him to settle himself to sleep. THIS will get your baby sleeping great.
He could be waking often because he’s not swaddled anymore,
but teaching him how he can settle himself back to sleep is essential for helping him sleep long stretches at night.
Good luck! / Leena, BSMS Support Team

Once I lay her down, however, she's awake and cranky. She can be in a deep sleep and it seems the very moment she touches her crib mattress, tears and screams. It can be so hard to hear our LO's cry at bedtime and in the middle of the night! Aiming for 2-3 hours of awake time during the day is perfect for this age. If your LO is overtired, this could be causing him to struggle to fall asleep at bedtime, so keep an eye on those awake times! The best way to help ensure that your LO sleeps peacefully at night and gets on a more consistent bedtime/wake-up schedule is to teach your LO how to fall asleep independently. If your LO can fall asleep on his own, they he can resettle on his own.
I know it can seem SO overwhelming to try and get your LO sleeping independently (especially when you are so sleep deprived)! We would love to help you! Our program has 4 step-by-step methods that walk you through teaching your baby how to settle to sleep on their own, which will show them how to resettle during night wakings too. It also covers reducing and fully weaning off night feeds. With 3 of our sleep training methods you stay with your baby as you teach them to sleep better. You don't have to leave the room if you don't want to. And you can choose a slower, more gradual method to reduce your baby's resistance, fussing, and crying. We can't promise "no tears" but you can work to minimize baby's resistance. We also accommodate for your baby's temperament too. My baby is almost 6 month and he takes pacifier but the problem is he keeps waking up every hr or so for the pacifier and i get reallyyyy exhausted. Is there any tip for that?

    • @Babysleepmadesimple
      @Babysleepmadesimple  2 года назад +1

      Hello Haya,
The pacifier is a tricky one!
The short version is that if you can offer the pacifier to help baby fall asleep AND she doesn’t need you to replace it during the night- keep it!
But if you’re having to replace it several times a night, that’s a sign that you’ll need to wean your baby off the pacifier as a sleep aid. You can still offer it during the day while awake or when sick for comfort. Our program shows parents how to remove the pacifier step by step!
If you want to try and keep the pacifier, one little trick that a lot of Moms have success with is sprinkling 6-7 pacifiers around the crib when baby goes to bed. That way, she can easily find one in the night. (This especially works as your baby gets older and can easily reinsert the pacifier by herself, around 7 months.)
      Best,
      Alyssa, BSMS Support Team

      Hi Melissa.
Continuous night wakings can be SO exhausting. The good news is at 5-6 months we can be confident that your baby CAN learn to settle himself to sleep and sleep long stretches. It’s normal for babies to wake often in the second half of the night, but teaching him HOW to settle himself to sleep at bedtime and during the night fixes this! At his age he should only need 1-2 super quick night feeds. He may be able to sleep 5-10 hour stretches! It just depends on him.

Thanks so much however I have lost every bit of hope. This is my third baby. My now 7yo and 4yo didn't start sleeping all night til they started full-time school.
I've done the same thing I said I wouldn't. Breast to bed. I make sure my other boys are safe downstairs watching TV and I take my 6mo up to my bed. I get in my bed with him and feed him til he's asleep. Because I am so exhausted. Then I roll him into the next to me crib and this takes a few attempts as he wakes each time so il Breast again and again then roll him back in.
This approx starts at 7pm and I stay with him till 8.45 ish in time to take his brothers to bed. He will then wake screaming around 10pm. So I repeat. Then he will sleep til 12/1ish and I end up sleeping with him in my bed alllll night feeding him. He screams a lot during it. Tensing. Perhaps trapped wind. He will feed all night yet be awake to play around 2am for 2hrs then back to feed sleeping.
Thanks for your time. Please help x

My 6-month-old girl has started to sleep through the night. Sometimes, she wakes up once and cries and I let her soothe herself. But sometimes if it takes her more than 45mins to fall asleep so I tend to give her a pacifier to help her a bit and once she falls asleep and I see the sucking is done I pull it out gently from her mouth. She normally only needs the paci for first 2 - 5mins to fall asleep but on her own without us being in the room or any shhhhh. However, now that she is teething along with being 6 months I noticed she wants to nap less. She went from 3 - 4 90min naps to sometimes 2 naps for a total of 2 - 2.5hrs of sleep during the day. Is this okay? I see her tired sometimes but cries that she doesn't want to nap although her face and energy says otherwise. Any tips? Am I doing this wrong?

Hi! sorry to hear that! The regression can be really exhausting, but the good news is that it will pass. At this age your baby can 100% sleep through the night and learn how to fall asleep independently.
Jilly has helped hundreds of exhausted Moms all around the world get their babies sleeping well, so they can get their energy back and start feeling like themselves again. So they can enjoy all the little things with their families. We'd love to help you, too.
How quickly your baby learns to sleep well depends on a few things: the method you choose, your consistency and your baby’s individual adaptability.
In general, though, if you’re super consistent with all the steps of the program, you can expect your baby to be sleeping amazingly at night within 21 days.
Wake windows are usually helpful as is consistency, however there are many factors out of our control,We always start by fixing night sleep first, as it is the longest stretch of sleep and perfect chance for your LO to catch on sleep that might not have happened as you wished through the day.

Hi Francine, what you do depends on which sleep training approach you choose. (Yes, you have options!) Some parents leave the room and come back every few minutes to reassure their baby and themselves. Other parents stay in the room and use hands-on comforting to help their baby learn to accept falling asleep in the crib. As long as you have a clear plan on how you will teach your baby to fall asleep (& stay asleep) on their own, any method can work. We help parents choose the best method for their baby, their situation and their parenting preferences. We also have step-by-step nightly guides that explain exactly what to do (and not do) so you are successful. We'd love to help you too. Give lots of practice during the day so that they can be comfortable rolling in both directions :)

That's okay! If she's happy in the crib (and not crying), she'll fall asleep eventually.
We have a program that has helped thousands of parents get their babies falling asleep peacefully, we would love to help you too! Here is the link:

It can be SO exhausting when our LO's are needing so much support to fall asleep at bedtime.
The great news is that your little one is now developmentally ready to learn how to fall asleep independently. This is truly the key to longer stretches of sleep every night! We can definitely help you get your LO’s sleep on track and get your entire family sleeping better. We can provide the best support to your family in our 21 Days to Peace & Quiet program.
In this program we offer 4 step-by-step sleep training methods. You choose the one that feels best for your LO. We have super gentle & gradual all the way to quick & efficient. Each step of the way you get advice based on your baby’s developmental stage, energy levels, and temperament.
Definitely click on the link below to learn all about our DIY package, Support package and VIP package! Our support is amazing! You will gain a month's access to our private Kajabi community with a jam-packed FAQ video library AND 2 live group Zoom calls per week. My 6 month old wakes at the same times at night crying looking for his pacifier. How can we stop that where he stays sleep and only wakes for his 1 night feeding?

    • @Babysleepmadesimple
      @Babysleepmadesimple  2 года назад +1

      You have two options here:
      1) Sprinkle LOTS of pacifiers in your LO's crib so that he can try and find one in the night.
      2) Wean off the pacifier and teach independent sleep without it.
We can help you wean off the pacifier in our 21 days to Peace and Quiet program whilst keeping an age-appropriate number of night feeds:

@@Babysleepmadesimple i prefer options 2. He just turned 6 months. Is it possible to wean him off? And would it be completely weaning him off or just at night when he sleeps?

      Great!
You can wean off the pacifier just at night OR completely. It's up to you, we'll help you through our personal support option.
Don't worry, the link Clare provided is our sleep training program 21 Days to Peace & Quiet :)
Looking forward to working with you!
