+MarQDog I think after all that has happened from Rocky I-IV, it's a shame to see it all ended with Rocky losing all of his money and ending up in a street fight. Even though they made Rocky 6 and Creed many years later in which we found out Rocky ended up doing alright and owning his own restaurant, it would have been nice to know he left on top and with all his money.
It'd have been great, sure, but just as is with life, not all things get to end the way we want them to. Unfortunately, what happened to Rocky is what happens to far too many athletes once their careers are over. The media builds you up just to chew you up and spit you out once you're done giving them something to talk about.
NXS Productions While I agree with you. I don't think that's the reason why Stallone made the movie. I think he just wanted to make another Rocky movie because why not? After all that happens, it ends in a street fight.

What made it sad was that he suffered brain damage, had a wife and son to take care of, and worst of all, got suckered into a fight with a greedy, ungrateful bastard that Rocky actually took time away from his family to help out. They should have never given him brain damage #1. #2, they should have had Apollo's son be the "Tommy Gunn" character (I'm saying get rid of Tommy Gunn altogether and have the guy Rocky trained in this movie be Apollo's son). Then the premise could have been about Rocky repaying a debt to Apollo's son by training him to fight, since--by not throwing in the towel--Apollo never was around to train his son. Rocky still could have ended up broke and back in the Philly slums thanks to his schiesty accountant, trained Apollo's son, which ultimately would have rekindled the fighting spirit in Rocky. By those slight alterations alone, he could have made 4-5 more Rocky movies that shifted from Rocky being the man to Apollo's kid becoming the man, and Rocky ultimately turning into the Mickey character that helps Adonis (Apollo's son) out in all of his battles along with Apollo's other coach. Rocky could have saved Mickey's gym and opened the restaurant, and we wouldn't have had to deal with the only cliche'd film of the series. (Even Balboa was better than 5).

@@Dr.AutismGod he did get slaughtered though lol. The beating he took from Apollo should have killed him. This was infinitely worse from Drago and by far the worst piece of propaganda I’ve ever seen for the Cold War/politics. Rocky shouldn’t have survived that fight with Drago, being hit with haymakers and bombs from a juiced up Drago that made prime Apollo in Rocky I and II to be a club fighter.
I think it was meant just to convey the power of the punches Rocky was taking, and how many, so they could build up the drama of the scene in the locker room
The opening part was incredible, amazing one, very interesting and exciting. The fighting with Drago gives me chills all over my body, except for locker room it was so sad to see Rocky in that condition cause he could not stop shaking his hands, for some reason, lucky that Adrian was there to help him to heal his pain that he was suffered from after the match against Drago.

A friend of mine told me that boxers and football players often suffer from brain trauma due to repeated blows to the head and face over a period of time. The human skull is amazingly strong but the blows shakes the brain around inside and that is what can affect its functions with the rest of the body.
2:35, these days if Rocky was seeing three, they would've stopped the fight and he would've lost his boxing license. Instead, in this era, it's "Hit the one in the middle."
This may not be the best of the Rocky movies for sure but this intro is epic and it was the first time I saw rocky In a theatre as a kid so I have a special place In my heart for this movie
This is why I'll always defend Rocky V. Rocky IV gave us the Hollywood Ending, and Rocky V gave us the a realistic outcome of what it's like to take that level of punishment to the skull, and keep coming back.
I never understood why so many on the internet hate 5, IMO it's one of the stronger Rocky movies with good characters and a good story with excellent morals. He lost his career and his money but he had his family and his true friends and in the end that's all he needed.
Remember back in the cinema in early -91 how the audience cheered when they heard that "We are in MOSCOW in the Soviet Union..." Everyone among the audience then knew they would see Ivan Drago once again.
If you watched 4 , then you saw the meter thing they were using to Measure Drago's Punches... So ya, you right, and Rocky took many punches... So it is very justifiable that 5 started like this...
Unfairly dubbed the "black sheep" of the franchise. Mostly by 'casual' Rocky fans. Any true fan knows this movie kicks ass. "Get up you son-of-a-bitch, cause Mickey loves 'ya!!" *LOL*
Rocky: I see three of them out there. A responsible person: Okay, let's stop this fight and get you to a hospital. Paulie: Just hit the one in the middle. Tony: ALL YOUR STRENGTH. ALL YOUR POWER. EVERYTHING YOU GOT. THIS IS YOUR WHOLE LIFE HERE.
this opening is very dark, I mean you hear church bells, something about angels falling, the shaking hands, it’s like he’s dying wow, can’t blame him tho after fighting the fight of his life
So true.. it was 1985.. same year as Rambo 2, then 1990 in Rocky 5.. then made the son older so he could do more .. learn to box, beat up the bully.. and rebel against Rocky.. the late sage Stallone.. plus he was in 1996 daylight movie as one of the bus prisoners.
When Tony, was praising Rocky and saying how everyone was proud, even when he mentioned Apollo. When Rocky asked Tony to get Adrian with that concerned voice, the look on Tony’s face, you knew how concerned & nervous he was. I haven’t see that look since Rocky II when Creed lost the title to Rocky. Thais scene and the locker room with Adrian, is the most defining moment in the Rocky franchise.
For this opening, the movie presents a excelent idea to be explored. Rocky is hurt. This is happening with many fighters around the world. But, the directors don´t know explored this idea during the movie. Results: Terrible movie, exception your intro.
I don‘t know what Sylvester Stallone has against this Film. The 5th “ROCKY“ Film is really good, most of all the music and the street fight at the end.
***Reality Check*** (The magic starts at 2:26 - 2:35) Duke: Alright, whats happening out there? Rocky: I see three of them out there... Pauly: Hit the one in the middle... The balance of the fight change after this info... Point in life is this.... When face with three options, pick the one in the middle.
This opening scene and the flash back Rocky has with Mickey when he's fighting Tommy are the only saving graces of this film. I love the Rocky series but V was the red headed step child. So bad Sylvester had to give it better closure with Rocky Balboa.
+agentjf I agree! Rocky 5 sucked ass! First movie I ever watched in the theater was Rocky IV! God I can still remember the audience standing up and cheering when Rocky body slammed the Russian. God the 80s were great!
2:48 Imagine getting hit by this roided up dirty punch. This is how Rocky got brain damage. Sometimes it's better to get knocked out in one hit than to be able to take multiple head shots. Also sad how Drago single handedly took Apollo and Rocky out of the ring for good.
Yeah, but it's like saying that Rocky IV should have had a Title Roll(also known as a CG-Character Generator Roll)instead of two Boxing Gloves from each Country clamping together with a crash.
Agreed. After the bar scene where Rocky challenges Tommy, there should've been a training montage for both fighters and then a match in the ring taking place.
When the strenght of the punches from Drago were explained by just saying: "What he hits, he drestroys" and Drago himself saying: "I must break you" finally took a toll on Rochy by breaking him and drestroying his career.
Certainly not the best entry of the series but Rocky V had some great moments throughout: - the flashback scene with Rocky and Mickey where Rocky receives the glove - Adrian setting Rocky straight in the middle of the street late at night - Rocky assuring his son that although he made mistakes, from now on it'll be the 'home team' - Mickey's 'get up you son of a bitch!' during the street fight - Rocky giving his son the glove at the end Just to name a few
I seen Rocky V at the movies when I was about 10 years old. I guess you have to see it in real time for the full experience. It is definitely not my favorite but it has some good scenes and I enjoyed it.
What Rocky IV and V sequels have taught me is the fact that whilst trying to prove a point either to oneself or others, losing everything is one of the consequences. Apollo lost his life trying to male sure that his legacy whilst Balboa could have taken the fight because of guilt, lost all his fortune which could have remained had it been he got those two or more fights to settle the debts. Creed II made one realize that in the aftermath of Rocky 4, both Drago and Rocky lost everything that was material leaving them with psychological scars that will never heal.
#MISIÓNDEKOUKADAKIS estas loco.... esta pelicula tiene mucha acción. y la pelea con Tommy Gun en la calle es genial.... la mas mala es Rocky 2... es aburrida y lenta
I remember watching this at the cinema as a kid. My dad took me and my brother to watch it after we wouldn't stop pestering him to take us. Ahhh, a great memory! Love the start to this one. Rocky forever!
Love the music at the end of the flashback. We see Rocky on top of the world but as the music would suggest something bad is about to happen. Then it immediately cuts to him in the shower all by himself.

That’s probably how it is with fighters. They think they feel great for a short time after finishing a fight, then feel lousy a little while later

Rocky robot his clone his shadow Tommy gun may win a few fights but he's no Rocky balboa
I just love the Conquest theme with this footage, it's epic! :)
Rocky: "Adrian I can't."
Adrian : "You can't what?" (Bell tolls)
Rocky: "I can't stop my hands from shaking."
Freaking BRILLIANT.
I never even noticed the bell until now
2:35, these days if Rocky was seeing three, they would've stopped the fight and he would've lost his boxing license. Instead, in this era, it's "Hit the one in the middle."
Especially with all the knockdowns Drago gave him in the fight
Joe Amazon I got two guns...one for each of ya

To be fair nowadays they know more about traumatic brain injuries than they did back then.
3:07 LMAO! Pauliee screaming and duke's face!🤣
i swear rocky movies have the best fight scenes
This may not be the best of the Rocky movies for sure but this intro is epic and it was the first time I saw rocky In a theatre as a kid so I have a special place In my heart for this movie
Rocky 5 = Highly Underrated
This is why I'll always defend Rocky V. Rocky IV gave us the Hollywood Ending, and Rocky V gave us the a realistic outcome of what it's like to take that level of punishment to the skull, and keep coming back.
anyone here in 2019?!! november!??
I never understood why so many on the internet hate 5, IMO it's one of the stronger Rocky movies with good characters and a good story with excellent morals. He lost his career and his money but he had his family and his true friends and in the end that's all he needed.
Until 6 where he lost it all...
Bad Soundtrack and very much bugs and goofs
@@LucaMuzi No. Rocky 6 is trash and has crap music. R5 is leaps better
@@SuperHitman55 I LOVE Rocky Balboa
@@misschiefmanager6670 More than V?
Remember back in the cinema in early -91 how the audience cheered when they heard that "We are in MOSCOW in the Soviet Union..." Everyone among the audience then knew they would see Ivan Drago once again.
3:33 Excelent start for the movie...
Kids..
Dat ass
But Ky kiske is the best character
The intro to this movie will forever be one of the best. If your a rocky fan you’ll know exactly what I mean. Truly epic
2:49 As a kid, I always thought that punch must've done serious damage to Rocky's long-term health!!!1
It did and one or two other big one's
If you watched 4 , then you saw the meter thing they were using to Measure Drago's Punches... So ya, you right, and Rocky took many punches... So it is very justifiable that 5 started like this...
And that punch where it knocks out his mouthpiece and he looks stunned
The man fought wars in the ring
Unfairly dubbed the "black sheep" of the franchise. Mostly by 'casual' Rocky fans. Any true fan knows this movie kicks ass. "Get up you son-of-a-bitch, cause Mickey loves 'ya!!" *LOL*
3:56 that pause that he does gave me chills...
“I MUST BREAK YOU” IVAN DRAGO
DRAGO DID BROKE ROCKY
No one was ever able to break Rocky with fists. Rockys heart was unbreakable in the ring.
@@facestabber51 "He broke things in me that ain't never been fixed".The end.Drago partially succeeded in his duty
facestabber51 “he broke things in me that have never been fixed” - rocky balboa to Adonis creed
Ivan drago did exactly what he said he broke rocky
Drago broke his spirt
Well, They actually broke each other...
THIS IS YOUR WHOLE LIFE HERE.
jockejocke1 true!
@@edwardsarinana1997 lol
It foreshadowing the brain damaged
this opening is very dark, I mean you hear church bells, something about angels falling, the shaking hands, it’s like he’s dying wow, can’t blame him tho after fighting the fight of his life
I just don't understand how the hell his son aged 10 years after this fight.
Yeah, that’s one thing about the Rocky movies that’s always bothered me, was the timeline
So true.. it was 1985.. same year as Rambo 2, then 1990 in Rocky 5.. then made the son older so he could do more .. learn to box, beat up the bully.. and rebel against Rocky.. the late sage Stallone.. plus he was in 1996 daylight movie as one of the bus prisoners.
Rocky 6 he's perfectly fine
best part of this movie was Tony Duke
jonathan sone NO PAİN NO PAİN
For this opening, the movie presents a excelent idea to be explored. Rocky is hurt. This is happening with many fighters around the world. But, the directors don´t know explored this idea during the movie. Results: Terrible movie, exception your intro.
I don‘t know what Sylvester Stallone has against this Film. The 5th “ROCKY“ Film is really good, most of all the music and the street fight at the end.
Love all Rocky's I - V plus Rocky Balboa and now Creed.....all are Iconic. Here's to another 40 years of Rocky
While I love Vince DiCola’s score it’s nice to hear Bill Conti’s theme
3:58 *Rocky is Softly Breathing & Groaning Quietly* 3:58😩😰😢💆3:59🤤😪🧖4:00
***Reality Check***
(The magic starts at 2:26 - 2:35)
Duke: Alright, whats happening out there?
Rocky: I see three of them out there...
Pauly: Hit the one in the middle...
The balance of the fight change after this info...
Point in life is this.... When face with three options, pick the one in the middle.
probobly the most promising epic start to rocky v........unfortunately. Rocky V was not that bad it was just ok.
Raed Rahman well at least rocky proved to everybody he is a street fighter. I like how he handle tommy in a street fight.
You kids dont know how to judge anything properly and dont even think for yourselves lol.
Just hating on rocky 5 because other people does lol
The director's cut was better.
“You did yourself and everybody Proud Especially Apollo” Your damn right Tony Mickey would be proud too
Wow this a heavy scene. Never thought that things would get so real. The fight traumatized him.
God the 80s were great!
the director's cut version was more violent, then the theaterical version
+mark apprentice rocky 5 was ruined by behind the scenes problems
Red headed step child?
Drago did damage that dude was a monster
This is the same opening as Terror of Mechagodzilla.
This was the only good part of Rocky 5 lmao
In my opinion the street fight was pretty good
To be honest, there is no bad Rocky film. It just tells the story of an athlete.
2:48 Imagine getting hit by this roided up dirty punch. This is how Rocky got brain damage. Sometimes it's better to get knocked out in one hit than to be able to take multiple head shots.
Also sad how Drago single handedly took Apollo and Rocky out of the ring for good.
Such a promising opening: dark, sombre and human.
And then, of course, the movie goes down the drain.
All rocky movies are good true rocky fan loves them all
1-5
@@mws755 The others are good too.
Gunn and
balboa should have faced in the ring
Yeah, but it's like saying that Rocky IV should have had a Title Roll(also known as a CG-Character Generator Roll)instead of two Boxing Gloves from each Country clamping together with a crash.
Rocky woulda killed that boy in the ring.
Agreed. After the bar scene where Rocky challenges Tommy, there should've been a training montage for both fighters and then a match in the ring taking place.
My dad used to make me and my sisters watch this when we were kids... and the teachers be like “why do these girls always try to fight other kids?”
When the strenght of the punches from Drago were explained by just saying: "What he hits, he drestroys" and Drago himself saying: "I must break you" finally took a toll on Rochy by breaking him and drestroying his career.
Certainly not the best entry of the series but Rocky V had some great moments throughout:
- the flashback scene with Rocky and Mickey where Rocky receives the glove
- Adrian setting Rocky straight in the middle of the street late at night
- Rocky assuring his son that although he made mistakes, from now on it'll be the 'home team'
- Mickey's 'get up you son of a bitch!' during the street fight
- Rocky giving his son the glove at the end
Just to name a few
I seen Rocky V at the movies when I was about 10 years old. I guess you have to see it in real time for the full experience. It is definitely not my favorite but it has some good scenes and I enjoyed it.
don't know why everyone says this movie is shit for . coz it's not .
He woulda been convulsing on the floor.. taking thousands of dragos punches. At 1350 lbs a punch
Movie only goes downhill from here.
Mtjoyc3 I love the opening to this movie.
+111highgh only the director's cut version was better then the theaterical version
Only good scene is the Micky flashback.
And when Tommy knocked Paulie down then Rocky tells him now try knocking me down.
The only thing that goes downhill is your opinions.
So sad when rocky lost his manager micky and apollo passed away

Yeah... its not like their beating the crap out of each other... yeah it dosent hurt at all XD LOL
Still a better love story than twilight..
The opening was great. Its sad that the movie had to fail
The only good in that movie is that part..!
+ΑΠΟΣΤΟΛΟΣ ΚΟΥΚΑΔΑΚΗΣ :I do agree with you bro because great men think alike...!!

estas loco.... esta pelicula tiene mucha acción. y la pelea con Tommy Gun en la calle es genial.... la mas mala es Rocky 2... es aburrida y lenta
But it was unexpected how it turn out for Rocky, Apollo got killed but in Rocky V was mentioned twice.
@@lexkanyima2195 ??????
Rocky v was the best in my opinion an had the greatest line in the entire series “you knocked him down now why don’t you try knockin me down….my rings outside” 😂
