    I recently played 100 player, on this map. everyone knew the that point was gonna be hell to pass. so we, a small group of the team flanked and made a position before they could. effectively holding and for the first time, we were able to break through and win, the first time blue was able to win.

      Yeah the new version lets Blu get to the choke before Red can setup so it's better if Blu team knows what they're doing but if Red is strong and holds choke they can easily get to Blu's spawn and camp it

      I actually took part in a successful push through cash 3rd last week. We ran like 15 brass beast heavies through lower hut and systematically took all the sentries down

    The first time we managed to get a Blue Win on this map was 5 heavy, 10 medic uberchain with a 10 demo 10 bonk scout rush. Bonk scout soaked knockback, heavies kept cart, demos broke sentry and some spies took out wranglers and teleporters

      No, Stalingrad was that one competitive match i played with capture points where we constantly got pushed to our last before regrouping and pushing them to their last before being pushed back to our last and repeat. I'm pretty sure it went on for half an hour before we finally lost due to our soldier quitting.

    I mainly play on the Trenches, I can confirm that that is the WORST choke. The times I have been on blue and won have been insane.
    For those looking to get that hallway, don’t ignore the under nest area, that’s two extra entrances, and your going to need as many as you can.

    Stage 3 of CP Egypt doesn't even give the offense an INKLING of a chance. We played 5 or 6 times and every single time, if they got far enough, the offensive team couldn't ever break through Stage 3 Point 1 in Egypt. Sentries covering every exit, Demos and Soldier bombarding and mortaring the sky-light outside of the left-hand spawn exit, Phlogs, Heavies and Snipers locking down the right hand spawn exit and the corridor leading upstairs, and even then, all of the above keeping the upstair exit completely and utterly suppressed.
    Abandon all hope, ye who hath reached CP Egypt Stage 3.

      That sounds so awesome, I wish I could have been there for those stompings! I've mostly seen Egypt games only go as far as stage 2. One time I actually joined in on a Red team doing so badly they had lost Stage 3 Point 1 and eventually lost Point 2 so it is possible if Red is particularly bad lmao

      stage 3 of Egypt actually has places to pressure from unlike Cashworks, so it is possible to push it, alot of places you can destroy sentries near entrence from. so it really is a DVZ fight for your life type situation on point 2. if you get stuck on stage 1 point 1 of egypt I wouldn't blame the blu team its incredibly difficult. same goes for point 1 of stage 3. and point 2 of stage 2. Egypt is just filled with BS for blu to get through, typically when blu gets to stage 3 its because red was shit on the previous 2 maps and they have a high likelyhood of pushing out of point 1. which is why I mentioned point 2 of stage 3. I'd love to hear your opinion, welcome to the trenches.

    Now, this might just be a skill issue, but ive seen the fully developed red nest fall to i kid you not, red tape recorder spies.
    They didnt kill any buildings at first, their goal was to deplete metal from the engies, and surprisingly it worked. Ive also seen an uber push gett an engineer past the sentries with a quick fix uber and a regular uber, (quickfix negated all the knowback) while my team was in a panic trying to hunt down the engineer in backline, they failed to find his teleporter. We were attack on both fronts and the choke fell.
    Personally, i enjoy emergent gameplay like that, most games rebalance at the slightest suggestion that theres adversity in their game, its nice to experience creative solutions for a change.

      I had seen a RTR attack succeed but the nest wasn't fully leveled up when they struck. The back line engi story is awesome lmao.

      Dude. I've been trying to get a 100 person server to coordinate a uber+quickfix push because it just seems no brainer with knockback being the biggest factor in stalemates. Glad to know that it can work especially on this map of all places.

      people always say that the red tape recorder is useless because you can just destroy it using the normal sapper, but try destroying a sentry with an engineer glued to defending the sentry with a pybro and your sapper does jack shit, the red tape recorder is best to deplete the engis metal supply by forcing him to spend time reupgrading buildings and that makes an engi more vulnerable than if you place a sapper and immediately die
      that being said in most cases most engis aren't that hyper aware and pyros won't run the sapper destroying melees so it is still a situational tool, but it's not useless.

Glad someone finally made a video about how the Trenches turn Cashworks into Chokeworks, but I also feel like adding one more small detail is very important: any time BLU makes it through the choke point... they pretty much steamroll for the rest of the map lmao it's tragic watching it happen while on RED

      @@thottac have to say though in normal 12v12 I have never seen blu win on last pre-fix cashworks. Both flanks being too easy to spam as red and main being a literal sniper highway was certainly a mapping decision of all time.

    50 v 50 player on any map is genuinely hilarious and poetic.
    I was in one of those matches on CP Steel on Defense for first round. All of red team was so divided building on point A and B but no one Defended E. B side was steam rolled and the whole of blue team had already surrounded us slowly capping E. The only reason they didn’t win is me shouting into VC calling out their intentions.
    Whole of red team immediately abandoned point A and we were on the GOAL to take back E and pick them out C and D.
    Someone said in the mic: “we’re being spawncamped, how is this happening?”
    Me : “YEAH CAN YOU SEE THEYRE FLANKING US FROM POINT B AND HAVE TELES BEHIND US. I WANT EVERY RED TO MOVE THEIR BLOODY ASS AND PICK OUT THESE BLUS FROM C, D and E.!!!”
    15 minutes of that round goes by and we win by resecuring E and Defending the back to pick out the engineers.
    Next round : We’re on attack and we go full tactical by all attacking A first. To put the whole of Blu team on point A and then change to scouts to cap E.
    Blu scrambling around to get to E and abandon A. Not long after that we get A, B, C and D with no problem as Blu’s scrambling to take back control. We show NO MERCY and I shout RUSH E!!!! With absolute no fear

      It's easy once you've played it acouple of times. It's plays very similar to regular 24. So if you know the map from casual you basically know it on 100 players. You just gotta know the team comp need a certain amount of medics and engines etc.

    Uncle Dane would be crying. A half-dozen engineers and every single one of them are ignoring the allied Level 2 which they could be upgrading.
    A situation like Defense here is the ideal time to swap off the Jag and onto the Eureka Effect. Would have saved you time both setting up the tele entrance and scrounging for metal - when 10 engis are trying to share a single metal pack you cant exactly rely on it. Plus, 100 metal to upgrade teleporters means even if a spy gets to sap everything, you can reestablish them easily.

      I figure the minimum you need to hold a choke is a demon man as the carry, Pyro to counter Uber, medic for heals and counter Uber and a dispenser but not necessarily the engineer.

    The only way to take this choke after the setup has been initiated is with coordinated manntreads soldiers, but no one besides me ever equips manntreads and medics don't uber manntreads because they don't even understand it, they are conditioned to uber phlog pyros, but even when they do uber soldiers, its only banner soldiers. I told Shounic he needs to do a video on this. TF2 isn't built for 4+ sentries worth of knockback in a straight vector from a distance, it's a non-linear complete shutdown for non-knockback resist pushes.

      Issue is that unless you have a quick fix and an stock Uber active you just get mercilessly pinned two the wall and shredded. And some medics dedicate themselves two going vax fire in case of that happening. Spy theoretically should be ideal though

    there's no game like tf2 and no game like 100 players tf2. And no feeling like winning a game on turbine infinite time where both point play for more than 4 hours without stopping and top scoring knowing that if you stop playing seriosly for 1 minutes, all of the pressure you help maintnain would pop like a soap bubble.

    I think the only way to overcome that chokepoint is if you had at least 10 heavies ubered at once and maybe even some spies to help assist but good luck trying to coordinate with 49 other players on your team. 1/17/25 edit: Also having scouts using bonk to take in sentry fire as well.

      @@TheRecklessBravery It's actually pretty effective to run spy every once in a while. I play spy occasionally in the trenches and you can usually cloak through the front lines. Flank routes are chokier, so it's actually easier to just try to avoid people on the front lines. From there the YER can do some serious work. Only issue is other people start to run spy and everyone gets too spy paranoid. Good for a round or so.

    We had once a 24 man 12-heavy and 12 -medic combo with attacking waves of 3 uber heavy's and another wave of 3 uber heavy's we did this around 4 times and destroyed all the nests with the rest of the team pushing hard.
    We also had a team of 3 spy's sap the sentry on balcony and demos that entered to destroy buildings and soldiers that prioritized killing enemies. Scouts also used the bonk sometimes to distract sentries and prioritize the cart push.
    All in all a good strategic push is all that's needed to win.

      I don't think it would be possible without serious coordination. Blu has to push into the room directly outside of red spawn. Might happen if Blu is 50/50 powerclasses and uber meds.

    Just before the first match started, all the stars somehow aligned and BLU colluded at once to all go Heavies, and I shit you not we bulldozed that entire map. We plowed so hard through all of RED's ill-prepared defenses in such a short span, they didn't even have time to set up shop at that infamous choke and we broke through, until right at the very end where their nests held us off until time ran out. Even 50 Heavies cannot break the chokes on this Godforsaken map

    Great video Thot, always a pleasure to see when you are on the server-
    I think the difficulty of taking this point is overstated by the people in the comments here. While it's not easy, it's more than do-able.
    If they have the Alamo constructed from Pre-Round, you need to secure and hold the various routes that will allow you to ultimately push through from the lower-left flank. That lets you get behind Red (relatively) safely by not having to deal with the 12+ Sentry Guns watching Main. Instead of trying to send failed uber after failed uber up main, you will be using the Back Left Ramp that leads to up behind The Alamo making it easier to destroy from that angle.
    The first and probably easiest to secure route is the the upper-left flank so they can't push into your spawn. Two medics, probably no more than three are needed to hold that area and use their ubers to occasionally be aggressive into Red. Next you need to secure and hold main. That gives you access to the lower-left flank which is the key to the point. From there you make your way to the doorway that leads to the clearing underneath the Alamo. The nest is easily able to destroyed from that vantage point with a uber'd sticky demo (assuming no Short Circuit of course). If you control the room under the Alamo it's pretty much over for Red. Blu will be able to come up your back-left ramp and finish off whatever they couldn't get from the front. Not to mention the Spy's that will be harassing Red from that same route and it should be very possible to take the choke. Good luck to all the trenchers out there.

    I remember sometimes during matches with this chokepoint the BLU team would just start dancing and partying on the other side since there was almost no way to actually pass it, another time half the team went spy and nearly managed to sap the entire nest after going behind it cloaked and disguised

    from what i've experienced burghausen first is also pretty bad because red just makes a meat grinder

      Little tip for Medieval mode: Go scout with mad milk and either wrap assassin or sandman, chuck your milk and ball at the point and then run back to resupply to rinse and repeat. Easy way to rack up assists and help your team push through! Careful of huntsman arrows though, bodyshots can one-shot when you have the sandman equipped.
