There is still one saiga mkk106 .308 left in near store. Cant say that gun is not tempting to get but that is with even shorter barrel. 370mm with muzzlebrake so i guess we are talking about 13 inch barrel. And it comes only with 8 round mag. In real world use i think that barrel is bit too short to get most potential out of that cardridge and result would be a damn loud flamethrower. And next are magazines what are kind impossible to get anymore. I guess there are reasons why it is still in shelf. But damn it would be nice to run in competions and reservist shootings.(if had mags.)
you can also just stuff a piece of rubber at the bottom of the pouch as a spacer to create clearance at the top for the 308 mags. It will also protect your feed lips when you go prone
Wrap your mags in paper, maybe 5-7 times, and insert into your chest rig. The additional diameter will stretch the pouches out faster, making the un-papered mags easier to withdrawal during the matches. 👍
Regarding pouches: I went with High Speed Gear (HSGI) taco pouches because they fit both AR-15 and AR-10 (LR308) magazines. I am able to run a 6-mag HSGI placard with just about anything - If I had an AK and wanted to run AK mags, it too would fit.
I wish we were able to get the Saiga 308s converted straight from the factory like yours in the US. I am converting mine, but finding a handguard to fit was the challenging part. Ended up having to custom machine a SLR rifleworks Ak handguard to fit
I'm also in the US and have the same rifle (and the same problem finding a decent handguard), Carolina Shooters Supply just came out with a very nice M-Lok handguard made for these it's all aluminum and weighs under 10oz I love it on mine
I had the same problems with 10rd 417 mags as they where to short… i put some foam down the pouches so the mags stick out, easier to grab but still enough retention while running and gunnin
Just a Thought. For the front pouches, try a kydex mag insert. I do that when running 308 mags in an ar carrier set up. the kydex inserts will be retained by the elastic, but will hold the mags normally and the mags wont be gripped so low and hard by the elastic as in your current set up.
Man this makes me really miss mine. Around 2011ish I bought a Saiga .308 with a 21" barrel for $750. Converted it to it's rightful form from the sporting config myself, and bought a few 20rd mags for it. LOVED that rifle. Then i sold for $900 about three years later to pay my divorce attorney. Now that same rifle can cost $2k! The pain of giving that up still haunts me (but my 2nd wife really made it worth it!)
"I'm not sure where to put the med kit." "I have literally no use for the dangler pouch." 🤔I wonder what the solution to the med kit problem could be...🤔
I'll get a Saiga M103 with full Zenitco attachments as soon as I'll have dosh for. But I admit the 106 looks also fantastic, I wonder for accuracy and grouping, tho. Good luck anyway Ziga for the Brutality challenge ^^
If I could get one.. then pitch a concept or whatever, I'd love to see if I can get a gunsmith to work some magic and sort of marry an SR25 pattern magwell to the receiver. Have the simplicity of the AK, FN ergonomics, and AR pattern mag cheapness. Jeez, this is one hot rifle.
Bro did you film the competition? I see that you one overall, congrats!! I think I'm not the only one who would appreciate a breakdown on what you did to prepare especially physically. I'm curious what your baseline was before training, have you always been in shape or did you peak for this event? Congratulations again!
Thanks! I hated running on the last Finnish Brutality so much that this year i went there to have fun. I didn't train at all, only went on vacation and drank a lot of beer weeks before the competition. Im not even kidding
I have a Saiga 308 done up somewhat similar, but I'm in the U.S. so I have some different accessories and customization. Mine has Magpul Zhukov side folder stock, Magpul Grip, ALG Enhanced Trigger, Surefire Warcomp (had the front sight cut off and pin/weld done with the compensator to keep it over 16"- USA models did not have a threaded barrel due to import laws) CSS M-Lok handguard, magpul foregrip, and I'm currently running a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x-24 version 2 with the BDC3 reticle mounted on a Midwest Industries QD side-scope mount. I actually do run the exact same mags as you from CSSpecs and they are 100% reliable. Mine is also cerakoted and the whole thing is FDE. I love my Izhmash Saiga it is very reliable and shoots under 1.5MOA groups at 100yds. Very nice rifle!
@@PolenarTactical yes, a fairly decent amount of material needed to be removed to get it functioning properly, also polished it for good measure. Material from the hammer, not the 3rd locking lug
I know it’s a bit late but I’ve found that G-Code scorpions can hold both AR-15 and M14 mags equally well! Maybe they’d work for your Saiga mags as well?
On the question regarding knife placement. The way i see it, it heavily depends on what kind of task is at hand, where you may or may not need a knife, and what is the most secure approach to carrying one. Let's say you were partaking in CQB / conventional warfare in frontline scenarios. If you know beforehand that there may exist a possibility to confront the enemy in close quarters, it's advised to place the knife somewhere where it's still possible for you to reach it by hand, but also that the risk of the enemy gaining access to it is also minimal. This is why placing it behind your lower back on belt level or in your combat boot is convenient, since you can still access it in the event that you go hand-to-hand with the enemy.
Looks like a Scar clapped an Ak and had a transplant from an acr stock. I love it.
But will it ak?
Still love it tho lol
I really dig the sexy "exotic" look. Very cool rifle.
I’m okay with that.
That Saiga looks and sounds like a beast
We will see how it holds up to the challenge

Saiga is a beast in fact. It is a name for a kind of antelopes in russian.
No, it looks ugly. Like pease of 💩
A good mag pouch option is hk417 mag pouches they are even larger than standard ar10 ones should help with that tab that AKs have.
NGL, I'm not particularly an AK guy, but that Saiga is a thing of beauty.
Based
Not kidding about the snow part... Good luck!
Very nice rifle and awesome setup! I love it! Good luck for Finnish Brutality ;)
Thank you! 😊
That is the most gorgeous Saiga 308 I have ever seen.
Good rig and kit. Good luck!
Thanks!
Finally the videos are coming out, been waiting for these!
Looks great. Looking forward to seeing your new videos.
Such good revoil control shows that stock ak muzzle is pretty cool.
it doesn't even move much, dang
You also need to give some credit to my technique and my heavy body 😁

Update the AK-training vids and sell them as usb-sticks with codes.

The setup is amazing and I definitely need that patch too!
WHOOOOA! DUDE THAT´S SOME SERIOUS GOOD LOOKING BAD ASS RIFLE
Great overview, looking forward for match video.
You are one of my most favorite channels.
Ps try using mag pull on the end of your mags to assist pulling them out.

you could add an inch of yoga matt foam to the bottom of the mag pouch to make the magazine sit abit higher.
Love the cut down BCM dong!
Thanks for the details of your weapons system.
Ahh thats cute AK dress like Bushmaster ACR despite it is not Halloween
I have that sticker!... We're practically brothers now.
Nice set up! I hope mamma Manca and baby are doing well.

That’s awesome.
Enjoy, will be awesome. keep the beers going on.
A shitload of beers and long drinks are going on right now 😄
I like knife in scout, but I'm never loaded out like that, grab a needle file for your mag prob, gentle work will make it smooth
Man I wish I could go to Finnish Brutality or Lynx Brutality at some point. But I don't think that's possible.
Anyway good luck to you 👍
I have a Chi-com style chest rig that accommodates Saiga .308 mags pretty well.
Love the 308, but that Saiga from last year was one of THE sexiest AKs I've ever seen and I want one so bad.
Nice cap, awesome gun, terrible plate carrier, as always 😁

what a badass rifle
Very najs gun.
Nicest rifle i've seen in a while
Its like a Draganov and a Scar had a baby and that rifle was born its beautiful.
Even cooler that it takes the csspecs mags
That patch is awesome! Who makes it?
You can use Quick Draw Magazine Pouch G36/G3 from Zentauron.
Toss the first aid kit in your hanging front pouch? Have you check to see if those AK-308 magazines would fit in say a G-3 or AR-10 mag pouches?
G code soft shell scorpion mag carriers for the rifle mags. Work with any modern auto loaders in 30 cal-556.
It is true that you can cram Saiga .308 mags in those. It is a rather tight fit, but it is workable.
could add cardboard or something to the bottom of the mag pouches so the mags stick out a bit more
Yes, you can rule out snow during summer in Finland. Weird and old stereotype. Nice gear btw.
Oh yeah, that rifle is a beast!! Gives me some .308 Galil vibes with them straight box mags!
Where get Cat patch? Gib gib link 😂😂. Best of luck in FB mate!!
I’m curious about that camo. Id like to try it in Texas
¡Es impresionante este fusil y me encanta amigo gracias por la explicación fue muy instructiva muchas gracias!👍😊
I would definitely love to own this beast! 🤘🏻
Good luck with finding a good .308 belt pouch or triple pouches for the PC. It's darn difficult to find good ones.
Oh my god that rifle is purridy
Wish I could see the Perun X-16 run in this
Love the look of this AK platform
I want one of these.
Pressure wash all your stuff then soak in soap water before laundry, works on muddy caving gear and ropes
Try some paracord loops or find some mag-pulls from magpul.
Hope all your equipment and gear does well.
Might build one from a Zastava
That rifle FUCKS
Mags look like CSSPECS. Absolute top tier. Also try AK pouches. I easily fit two 25rnd 308 PMAGS in my SMERSH AK pouches no issues.

Very interesting to see quite a few differences between the gear shown here, and the gear 9-hole Reviews critiqued. Which was a more recent video?
This is the most recent video, made just before we left for Finland
I recommend the Roll 1 pouch for medkit by Ferro concepts at the base of the plate bag on your back. Its pretty slick.
The morale patch on the chest rig (the one with the cat) is pretty cool. Where could someone like me, get one?
