This is exactly what I needed - the original mounting "hardware" on my sink (plywood squares and 1/4" thick glue of some sort) failed. I bought those exact clips and epoxy. Affixing the posts was easy since I had the sink pulled out. I was able to apply silicone caulk, tighten the wingnuts, then clean up the excess caulk. After reattaching the pipes and garbage disposal, I"m back in business! One small bump along the way was that one of the posts I epoxied on fell off, so I'll be replacing that with a new one this weekend.
Wow, never seen any videos this precise, you are awesome sir. thank you for explaining each and every step including a clear video on a tight intricate spots. GOOD JOB sir.
There are a lot of hack jobs these days. I feel like that makes it even more important to learn how to do all this stuff yourself. I'm glad to be a part of it and helping folks out.
My sink was installed by a company contracted by Home Depot, that has since gone out of business. My sink also dropped about a quarter of an inch, allowing water to flow over the back top lip of the sink and down into the cabinet below. I went to Home Depot to complain about it but was told that the installation labor is only guaranteed for one year. My comment to them was, "Who would ever want an undermount sink if they were all going to fail after 5 or 6 years?". My comment was met by blank stares with no replies. I went back later to see if maybe Home Depot would maybe help me with a new sink as the old one is 10 years old now and if I have to reinstall it, why not put a new one in. But, they refused. The newer guy I talked to told me that in his experience, all undermount sinks will eventually fail. Well, that's just great. I digress; would ANYONE buy an undermount sink if they knew they were going to have to have it remounted within 10 years, BESIDES having all the water leaks around the broken seal between the top of the sink and the bottom of the counter??? Personally, I will never buy an undermount sink again, given the opportunity. And just like the person Wing Walker talked to (below), I have seen RUclips posts about people building wooden frames into the box (cabinet) prior to having the countertop installed. I believe that is a MUCH better idea IF you are going the unmount way. But if you've already gotten screwed by an undermount sink like I have, I really like the undermount sink clips that Menards sells and have installed them myselfs. Wish me luck!
That's really sad that you thought a sink installation would last ten years solid with no repair. Sadder even that you tried to get a free/discount after 10 years of use. I expect everything nowadays to fail within a year. Meaning, I have no expectations. You sleep better this way.
I too had 3 undermount sinks installed, Home Depot sucks. Everything the fabricators did was wrong. The only thing thats holding my sinks is some pink colored epoxy? They didn't use the brackets that came with the sinks either. The Quartz fabricators were Koronerusa. They installed the sinks and there is no room for my faucet plunger in all 3 sinks. The over hang of our sink is 5 1/4" . Same with. my master bathroom. The design we picked isn't nearly the same as what we got plus the backsplash and sidesplash don't match the lousy countertop. I an only say Home Depot does NOT stand behind their warranty! So they started this job Feb. 2023 and here it is going into June. I have NO sink hooked up in my guest room and I hate my master bathroom. Im sure it wont last long. So 4 months of aggravation Im going to take the legal route. They should be accountable for their subcontractors as well.
@@brebre3582 😂 I put an under mount sink in 39 years ago in the granny flat. Still solid as a rock and watertight. I prefer and fully rebated cabinet rail. This strap mechanism is ok 👌🏽 aswell. It won’t fail unless the bracing fails
Just came here as I am having a new countertop and undermount sink installed, and the installer told me he has had issues with the epoxy mounts so now he recommends a wooden frame or supports attached to the sides of the cabinet and a horizontal support under the sink. Failsafe is how he described it. I thought it was a little low tech and then I see the comment by " wing walker" below! :)
You can see one of the key holesat the end of the video. Those are use to attach the hardware that supports the sink to the counter top. A better choice IMO than than the epoxied studs.
I think you could also lightly sand the area with 120 or 80 grit sandpaper then clean it would give the epoxy some more bonding strength I assume by roughing up the surface
You don't need keyhole slots for this hardware. The countertop was manufactured with the slots, but they were not positioned for keyhole hardware. That is why I'm using the product in this video. You just don't need keyhole slots with these.
I'd like to use a larger undercount sink. Can the sink be supported by the plywood countertop eliminating the mounting brackets? Manufacturer recommends 1.5" on each side for brackets.
I was about to purchase a under-mount sink but after watching this video and others I think I'm gonna go with the top mount sink. I just can't trust a bunch of clips and glue to hold the sink securely. I don't think I would be confident on even fill it with water ...too much weight.
We thought bout new sink and top but a coat of paint on the cabinets and walls was a plenty. Have a Jesus weekend and watch the storm up the coast. We've already had a very few snow flakes which is a good thing. Still around 4 inches left in spots. GBWYall!
Hi Lewie! My folks recently refinished their kitchen by painting the cabinets and replacing the countertops. It looks amazing. Our weather here has been unusual. We've had some snow, but not near the amount that we usually get. The temps are all over the place. I'm afraid I won't be ice fishing this year. I need 4" of ice, and the warm-ups keep melting the ponds and lakes. Good to hear from you! GBWU2!
@@PhilCrockett We got another 1 1/2 last night but mostly gone. 32 for a high and around zerox tonight. Usually 20/40. Power stayed on and the heat pump ran almost solid. Ypou may have to stay on the bank this year! GBWYall!
Bro thank you I went in to the local hardware store asked them for a way to secure my sink and they gave me the other kind I went back and told them these are not the one and showed them a pic and they looked at me like I was insane and said I’m using the wrong sink 😂 I guess I’ll go back today I’ve been using a 5 gallon jug to hold up the sink for the past 3 months 😂
Did you actually hold that anchoring post in the epoxy for both corners for "20 minutes" ? How did your arms not fall off holding both sides for 20 minutes? Or maybe you didn't actually do that .
you have added a layer of water proof sealant between your sink and countertop to prevent water sipping into the gap, before you attached the sink clips.
there are different ways to do this I'm sure. The product in my video is designed for this method, and I can say it works so well, I'll use these in the future.
Thanku for the instructions, until your video, I had no clue how these mounts secure my sink to the shitty job the installers from Home Depot did installing my sink
Just had new quartz counters and undermount sink installed. The secured the undermount sink by pressing it up in place from underneath and screwing in an L bracket on each side with 2 screws holding it against the cabinet sides. No clips anywhere... just the L brackets.. 1 on each side under each sink. I don't trust this install.
Thank you for telling me about that product. I might buy the sink setter 104-P and it's not terribly expensive either. The only concern I have is, the side and rear walls of my sink cabinet might not be thick enough to support a lot of weight. The sink setter is less messier than the epoxy and metal clips, but I'll try the epoxy and metal clips first. It's possible I might end up going with a combination of metal clips and the sink setter.
The best clear and concise video i have ever watched. Perfect picture to illustrate. No second wasted
Thanks!

A bead of Silicone Caulking would be good around the lip of the sink before reseating in place.
Yes! In this case, I did not want to pull the sink. But you are correct.

They are for some other hardware that I didn't use.
Yes, but the only problem is, these key holes weren't available in the proper spots for the sink.

Just as long as the surface is clean and scuffed it should grab the bonding agent
Hi - what's the purpose of the Keyhole slots? You identified their locations, but didn't use them during your fix.
You don't need keyhole slots for this hardware. The countertop was manufactured with the slots, but they were not positioned for keyhole hardware. That is why I'm using the product in this video. You just don't need keyhole slots with these.
Very well done! I just subscribed to your channel
Thanks for the sub!
Why didn’t you use the drilled out recesses that already existed in the granite ?
I have a 3/4”plywood countertop, can these clips be screwed in rather than using epoxy?
I'd like to use a larger undercount sink. Can the sink be supported by the plywood countertop eliminating the mounting brackets? Manufacturer recommends 1.5" on each side for brackets.
I have never done that on plywood so I couldn't tell you. Maybe someone else that reads this comment can chime in

good idea to wear a face shield to keep from getting dripping epoxy on any part of you face, eyes, mouth etc. and always gloves with epoxy.

What the point of a keyhole slot in the countertop if they aren't used anywhere?
