I met one Asian American guy, and he kind of looked down on me because I’m not ABC or whatever you guys call Asian American women. I’ve never felt the same way dating my husband who is white. Another one is Filipino American who also acted like he’s superior, just because he’s American. The point is we can’t make everyone likes us, so just do whatever make you happy.

As an Asian male who grew up in a small rural town, asian self hatred is very real. It took me a long time to embrace where I come from, but I’m glad I’m finally doing it.

I'll never understand this. My husband is Asian (we're AMWF) and I adore him. Yes he's shy and introverted but he's also strong (lifts), kind, intelligent, conscientious and reliable. I never knew a man could be both masculine and cute before meeting my husband. I don't know what else to say, hearing these comments is just upsetting.

"I usually prefer dating white girls" vs "I don't date asian girls". One is a demonstrated preference in a neutral-positive way, the other achieves a similar thing but with an added agenda or plain ignorance.
I’m Hispanic and married to an Asian for almost 18 years and we have two beautiful kids. He is calm, honest, put together, smart, family orientated, educated, hard working, faithful Catholic and consistently eats clean and works out. Not a womanizer, not a drinker, not a smoker. I feel like I hit the lottery and I’ve seen this in many Asian men overall. They are high quality men.

I married a Slavic European lady and had a female Asian friend commented, "I don't understand why an European woman would choose an Asian man". Some others said, "Given a choice between Asian and a white dude, I think most girls would choose the white dude". This phenomenon is not only limited to America unfortunately.

Men in the West just have such low self esteem and it comes from medieval European values which pedestalized women. Traditional asian, african, middle eastern and ancient European (Greek, Romans...etc) had little value for women except their mothers. Till the West returns to traditional values, they will keep producing this mangled twisted generation that doesnt even know what a woman is and why for example Russians and Muslims cant even see Westernized men as actually real men.
I’m not going to lie. As a mixed black dude who has always had at-least 2-3 Asians friends in his life every year. I had always thought Asian men would do well because back then you saw Asians in masculine roles (Jet Li. In “Triple X”, “Rush Hour” franchise). I personally feel that emasculation of Asian males happens mainly because it would be threatening to the hierarchy 😅 if one of the largest (if not the largest) socioeconomically efficient demographics was ALSO seen as masculine. When you present a whole demographic in this fashion it does make an impact on how people perceive them as a whole. That being said, anyone who has internalized racism in dating or talks down on what they came from should be avoided. Women who think like this are only headaches at the end of the day. I am a first generation Asian American from a traditional immigrant family. I was raised with traditional Asian values and culture, but always wanted to be part of the American culture. I believed that played the biggest role in eventually dating and marrying out of my race/ethnic group. From my experience it is better to date but not marry outside your race/ethnic group, especially if you are brought up in your culture. There are too many cultural differences to overcome for a long term relationship to work, unless one party is willing to completely assimilate to the others.
Most of my asian friends are dating hispanic women and as far as racial dynamics goes. We're doing better than these girls give us credit for

Just an Asian guy here who was born and raised in a small town of Wisconsin. To all my Asian brothers out there who are struggling.....rejections and failures will help you become stronger, smarter, and definitely better so get out of your comfort zones and you will find out that a lot of guys regardless of race.....also feel the same too. I have friends from different ethnicity/races and believe me - they struggle to attract the opposite gender even those from their own ethnicity/race. The Reality - most are just average people out there.

Although I agree that there is some internal racism against Asian men, I believe the reality is that all ethnicities/races struggle cuz like you said most people are just average. When I was in high school, I was the typical awkward, nerdy-looking Asian guy and was completely overshadowed by the white "jocks" in my class. As I got older into my early 20s, I glowed up and also started to take my appearance more seriously. Now, I get plenty of attention (both explicitly and implicitly) from women. On numerous occasions, women have approached me at bars/clubs and called me very handsome. In my predominately white medical school class, guys and girls knew me as the "hottest dude" in the class. Point is, yes, Asian guys are at a slight disadvantage, but if you work on yourself in ALL aspects (looks, money, status), you will do well no matter your race.

Don’t victimize yourself and not do shit about it. If you encounter a women that focuses on race than you as a person than she’s clearly not the one. Keep it pushing and work on yourself (physically or financially) so that you can offer the best version of yourself.

This was a weird outlier back when I was dating, nearly 30 years ago - I only liked the Asian guys who were in my Honors/AP section through HS.
I had at least four fatty crushes and I would eventually tell them, “Hey, I really like you… will you consider asking me out or tell me I should get over it because it’s a nonstarter?”
They were all very plain and explained that they were definitely attracted to me, definitely wanted to ask me out, but their parents would never accept it.
I was so bummed out because I really liked each of them but never got a chance to even have a make out story because their parents, as immigrants, would not tolerate them dating outside their race.
Now looking at the dating culture and so many girls are sleeping on the Asian guys who arguably are the most loyal, the smartest, the most charming when you speak to them, the best at most anything they apply themselves…. I could go on.
The most critical and attractive quality of Asian men is far and away and in the broadest spectrum - THEY HAVE THEIR SHIT TOGETHER AND GET ON THE PATH TO SUCCESS SOONER THAN ALL THEIR MALE PEERS. Ladies, stop sleeping on Asian guys, you’re only playing yourselves.

When I was a young man, it was surprising how many Asian women I knew who had never dated an Asian man. And they had no interest in ever doing so.
I feel like growing up in a non-Asian environment isn't necessarily the best excuse either. In high school, most of my friends were white and I had two Asian friends. There were few Asians. However, I still sought to identify with my culture when I went to college and joined Asian clubs. If you really want to do it, you can. It's more of a mindset.

These sort of things only happens in Anglo Saxon countries like US, Canada or Australia. As an Asian American, I lived in Venezuela for more than 10 years and these sort of self racism biased does NOT exist. As a matter of fact, the playing field of Asian man with white latina pairing is quite common too. Ive also been told that this applies to pretty much all the latin american countries. So I blame the mainstream media of the US that purposely influence this mindset to Asian women. This is probably why they purposely aired this clip which I suspect they cherry picked these ASian women who have these sort of self racism mindset. But I know most Asian women dont think like that just like us Asian men who may find white women attractive but DOT NOT limit ourself to only white women, we love women regardless of their ethnicity.
Same with the Soviet bloc/Eastern European countries. While racism on a individual level can exists obviously, communism did not allow for systematic racism against Asians which meant no emasculation and equal opportunities for Asian men.

They hate on their own men aka disassociate as a means of assimilating to western society. I’m 1/2 Asian and 1/2 white but look Latino. I’m attracted to girls from pretty much all races, but it’s been pretty much only short Asian girls that would date me. Latina girls that seemed to be interested in me backed off really quickly when they found out that I’m not Latino. I’ve learned to accept that and I have fun with it now. My favorites are girls from around the Mediterranean. The long dark hair, almond eyes, and the olive skin gets me every time. The important thing to remember in the end is to find someone who is a good and reasonable person. If someone won’t date you because of your race then of course you’re better off.

My Asian female friend told me she would never marry an Asian man but she ended up marrying an Asian guy. They’ve been happily married for 15 years now so sometimes it’s just all talk.

I am a Vietnamese American born in Saigon, and raised in Orange County. 2 Asian women I knew from a sub-culture of dancing Lindy Hop aka Jitterbug expressed this to me, "I don't date Asian men." I immediately told them to go f*ck themselves. As much as I wanted to have friends, I wanted to have more self respect than be around women from my own ethnicity who did not see me as a choice or desirable.
While they expressed interest in going to some events I would attend within the entertainment industry with me, they didn't feel that I wasn't worthy of dating and made it very clear to me right after they asked if they could come "hangout " with me at the prestigious gatherings. This was all during in my late 20s to early 30s.
Fast forward to now... I am married to a beautiful, amazing, intelligent, loving and talented Brazilian.
The thing that resonates with me especially now that I am a bit longer in the tooth is their views of Asian men are the result of the propaganda against Asian men in the media for so long. The efforts to immaculate us especially within film and television have become so blatant. In all... The 2 Asian women I knew were most likely conditioned in our society to believe Asian men were not worthy of dating.
You should've specified, white media owned by white men have done this no one else.
It is most likely stemming from parental pride. The parents were embarrassed about their own culture, so they tried to hide it and/or did not instill pride in speaking their native language and appreciating their culture. So, their children grow up no wanting to speak the language and get the idea that their culture and the humans in that culture are not an option. So, don't pass that on to your children.

This phenomenon of asian women hating on their own men is only seen in america and western nations. This shows just how powerful media is and just how impressionable/conditioned women are.

Look at how many American Asians (especially American Chinese Asian) are ashamed to speak their mother's language compared to Spanish speaking individuals.
I'm Mexican, and I could say this is happening in Hispanic communities as well. No so much the talking down of Hispanic men but the idea that dating a white dude to a Mexican woman is considered a "come up."
An interesting layer to add to this however, something that was slightly hinted at in this video, is that, as much as it's looked upon as a step up economically or social status wise by Hispanic women to date a white American man, it is just as much looked at as a step down in terms of masculinity.
I've seen this happen multiple times at multiple parties where a Mexican girl that's dating a white dude gets into an altercation with another Hispanic female, and as soon as the men they're dating get involved, if the other Mexican girl is dating a Mexican guy, suddenly the first girl switches up her energy. The first girl would start trying to pull her boyfriend away and try to get him to go back to the car, as if to say, "You're out of your element whiteboy, these Mexican dudes are about to fucc you up." Where the second girl if anything is cheering her man on and saying stuff like, "Fucc this asshole up, baby!"
So as much as Hispanic or Latina women fetishize the idea of dating a handsome white guy from a good background, they very much share this underlying belief that white dudes are not as masculine, macho or aggressive as the standard Hispanic or Latino male, which I guess is a weird area of prejudice that Asian men don't necessarily get to benefit from.

I live in the middle of the USA. Never used dating apps, but I get a few compliments here and there. I don't usually have a problem talking to girls and there have been many instances where the girl came up to me first. It really is just about confidence. Know when to back off and stop pursuing. Learn social cues. Also, You need to take care of yourself and put in the effort to look the best you can.

Also had a pretty strong accent until high school. I always made jokes and never took anything too seriously. I skateboarded A LOT. That's all I did. I think that helped with girls still wanting to talk to me despite my appearance. I also have a weird history with girls who had problems with their dad. Idk man.
As an Asian guy I also get compliments and have chicks of other ethnicities get giddy in front of me, however this is not about that. The issue is about Asian women bashing Asian guys.
As a 1st generation Asian American man in my 30s, I grew up in a majority white neighborhood in the East coast and I can relate to this 100%. From my childhood, I was always the token Asian guy in the class full of white people. There's a good chance there happens to be a token Asian American girl in the class too. When this happens, all the white people assume you two like each other, because mostly all white people all think Asian people are the same (this happened in the 90s), and it makes for this uncomfortable and awkward situation. You feel the stares from all the white people and the white guys may egg you on to talk to this Asian girl. I have nothing against this Asian girl, but what happened was that I simply distanced myself from this Asian girl any way that I could so that I could avoid the situation. I am unsure what that particular Asian girl experienced or what they experience in general but maybe they feel some sort of bullying from their side too. There were a few other Asian American girls that I liked growing up, but they all mostly rejected me maybe because I was really nerdy and not like the cool white guys. But, what I think may contribute the most to Asian American girls not liking Asian American guys besides emasculation is probably because of statistics. These Asian American girls grew up in the same mostly white neighborhoods and there's just simply not that many Asian guys that they interacted with growing up. What are the chances that they happen to like me or the one or two other Asian guys in the entire grade or school? I think its like a numbers thing against Asian American guys. There's just simply more white guys to pick from, and many of them probably are popular.
I was also bullied/socially rejected by an Asian American girl in High school who was in my homeroom class because I was nerdy and probably made her look bad. Let me explain, given that the average white person lumps all Asian people together, what you (as an Asian guy) does is always judged. What one random Asian guy does affects how you are treated. Thus, you have this weight of needing to represent your culture in the best light possible. Basically, you have to factor in racism. SO, this Asian girl was hanging out with the popular white girls and she probably wanted to be accepted by them, so she needed to rid herself of anything that was holding her back, i.e. - me. I was Asian and was nerdy, so I looked bad. Her peers see that she has an Asian face, so by proxy, she looks bad. There's a certain level of assimilation that you have to do in order to socially survive I guess. Some Asians, male or female tend to completely reject their own heritage and culture to the point of making fun of themselves in order to be accepted in another group too.
There's a lot more to say. Maybe what little I wrote here may resonant with some other Asian American males.

Another angle to this is like two nerdy kids (boy/girl) growing up and always getting picked on by others. One day one of the nerdy kid, the girl, gets into the cool crowd and then turns her back on the other nerdy kid. In fact, she now bullies the other nerdy kid and actually doubles down on the bullying of the other nerdy kid as a way to further distant herself from the past trauma from bullying.
I'm using nerdy kids as a trait because it carries a negative connotation that's multi generational.
As a black man I’m aware that when society pictures a man that can provide, protect, and all the other great traits that goes into a father figure someone with my skin color doesn’t come up. I just ignore that perception and go on about my business. The people that know me now what type of man I am and dating have always been more of an opportunity.

Hi 😁 guys.... I'm a black woman and I've heard this this issue before. It's something black women face. We are put in box of negatives and seen as less attractive. It really comes down to the individual person. Not everyone is the same and to say one or more persons represent a whole race is crazy. I've seen attractive men in many races, and Asian men are one of them. If you have a preference then that's one thing,but once you group everyone together and say, they are all this and that, it's bull . My theory is that these type of Asian women are trying to socially become "less Asian" and become assimilated with western society. You don't see too many Asians making moves in the sports, music, or entertainment industry where they are considered a cultural icon in the USA. Women want to be in the social spotlight and not on the sidelines, even if it means they are just a sidepiece. So the next best thing for Asian women to not come out as being openly racist against your own race is saying I am not into incest. As an Asian male, I could care less. My experience when in college (Gen X) was I wasn’t a very good looking guy so I get it... BUT I had a buddy that was super built and looked like a model (chiseled features etc) plus was a friendly outgoing guy - and the amount of returned interest he received from both white and Asian American women was shockingly low vs his “stats”. But I will say he was popular with the various Asian exchange student ladies.

I've had way higher success rates with foreign born women than American born. I personally have met many Asian girls that prefer Asian guys over other ethnic men and it is usually 1 out of 10 that would be open to non-Asian men. It depends on the area and the culture and also it all comes down to preference, just know that there are many options out there with women.

I’m a Black girl married to a Japanese guy for 12 years. When we started out black women and Asian girls were like “why?!?” grimacing. What’s interesting is now with BTS & Anime etc becoming hipster 😅 my black friends are now like “oh so cool, does he have a brother 😂” yet my Asian friends are still like nope 😂 (unless they are in Asia I’m in Tokyo now).

One thing my wife (who is white) and I have notice is that most of our Asian female friends, who are married to white guys, have become very conservative politically and say racist things all the time. They become very closed-minded in their worldview. Their careers were massively affected by their spouse, stay-at-home mom, part timers, not in their original careers. Our friends who are white females and are married to Asian guys definitely have become more progressive minded. They are for stablely continuing in their careers. This is definitely our experience as a couple. My wife was more conservative until she met me. She is happily in her career. Personally, all the girls I have dated and were interested in were asian but they kept comparing themselve to me and my career. Either they felt called to marry someone with my career, or they were not worthy(maybe they really meant my career isnt jiving with them?). Both were unattractive to me. What does my career have to do with theirs? Why should my work affect what they will do in the future. Its like they were getting ready to take the second seat to ride my coattail? Trust me, my career doesnt make a lot of money but is a community leader type of work. My spouse would definitely become "the seond lady." My wife, who is white, was focused on living her life, her career unaffected by what I did. Sure, in marriage, both partner will adjust, change to some degree, but one shouldn't have to give up their aspirations and life goals for the other. I dont really know what this means in the larger conversation, but this has been what we have seen. My mom definitely gave up her life goals to "let" my dad take the lead. She went to college, he didnt. My family struggled financially all the time. I know why I personally wanted a partner who wouldnt easily give up their life goals for me. I dont want to generalize but maybe these women dont like that asian men tend to be more sensitive? You either like that or you don't.

as a half asian man who grew up in Germany, it was very hard to date , they always had that stereotype asian man have small **** so immediatly they thought ur are not a fit for them😂, i managed to date one German Girl in Highschool, we talked suprsingly she said there are actually others girls who liked me but the things that they were afraid their parents wouldnt approve them dating an asian man. it could be that the racist stigma of asian man are not treating their woman well what seems still presist with the older generation . later on i went to uni in asia and suddenly dating was much more easier

The hate is real. It's honestly depressing. Not just Gen X. From my experience, the WORST racism and discrimination against Asian men are from many second generation Asian women (or ABCs) that were born and raised in North America. I mentioned "second gen" because i have encounter too many that fetishize White men (thanks to Hollywood and American media), and I've experience straight up rejections from ABC women before because they ONLY prefer White guys (you know, the typical 6 foot, jacked, blonde hair or brunette, athletic ones). My best advice, if you want to date an Asian women, be like me, find ones that AREN'T second gen Asian. Find ones that were born and raised in Asia and either came here to study or work. Alternatively, look for other races, especially Latinas (they seem to love Asian men). You WILL have more chances of meeting "the one".

I am born and raised Mexican and have been 10 year married to an amazing Chinese American Man. I dated many different races and cultures in the past and I truly think Asian American men are amazing! , very caring, gentleman-like, very attentive, hard working, smart, faithfull and incredibly sexy and fun. 100% husband material. And I know it is not just my husband but all the different Asian men I have met before and through him and his family and friends throughout the years. I really don't get these girls.

I am 1/2 asian and i lived in China for 5 years. It was awesome being there and part asian- a great ice breaker. I was not alone if i did not want to be alone. Now in USA, you all can use these ladies.
Gen X here. Yup this still exists. It's taught. This used to bug me in high school then I joined the army, traveled and found better things. I lived in Europe and now living in Japan. Asian gals looking down on Asian men isn't new. These gals were taught to be like this or influenced to do so. Outside of CONUS (Continental United States) I don't see this.

My dating experience was VERY different…Los Angeles of all places right? I am a bit taller, I was 6ft and some change right at 20 yrs of age, tan skin, and wasnt aggressive when dating. I dated a lot outside my “race”
Black, white, and latinas, I guess they just loved the “ethnic” look I had.
But I noticed that I had a lot of push back from most Asian women that were born here. Japanese, Korean, and Chinese women were totally into my Cambodian American heritage thing I had going on, but I guess a lot of those “Americanized” Asian women dissociated dating Asian men very early on. I guess I got fairly lucky despite the asian stereotype.
Cambodian dudes in America stands on business thats why we date outside of our kind more than Cambodian woman 😂

The problem is there's just not enough Asian men in the western society. In the US the total Asian population is about 7.2%. As an Asian male who grew up in the US, I was only attracted to western women until I met more Asians later in life. I started dating only Asian women and later married an Asian. Same thing happened to two buddies of mine who are also Asian. So I don't blame these girls for their preference in men because Asian men are pretty scarce compared to other ethnic groups unless you're in China town or Korea town.
I also want to add that I was pretty muscular when I was single so I was attractive to many women of all ethnicities. So to my Asian bros please hit the gym.
I am GenX late 40sF who grew up in an Asian town in SoCal. Most kids my age were first generation American like me. Was barely exposed to white people until I went to college in small town PA and it was like 95% white with very few Asians/minorities there. I dated two Asians during school, but ended up marrying a white guy with whom I am now divorced. To your point about developing masculinity and personality - this is my exact sentiment. I would totally date any Asian, as long as they're developed beyond work. Not that I'm really dating now LOL. But hey, more and more Asians are moving to where I live (mid-size city) and I admit that I wish I was younger because I find many of the Millennial Asian men attractive.

From my experience as an Asian myself (Korean), I've found that by defying stereotypes, we can stand out the most in the game compared to guys of other races/ethnicities.
I am a former Kpop trainee (the pretty boy type), have a nice voice, am pretty fit, and bilingual. I give no damn and approach a girl if I find her attractive (cuz I know I'm good looking and being Asian makes me stand out even more). Girls usually like it more when a guy approaches them while they're with their friends because that shows the guy is bold and confident.
So yeah, I'm actually thankful that I was born a good-looking "Asian" man (I know, such a small sample size for everyone to agree w/ me but I know y'all good looking popular Asian guys exist).
Also, I had some Asian girls, like the ones in the video, legitimately tell me, 'I don't usually date Asian guys, but you're pretty cute.' I clapped back at them, saying, 'lol thx but I like pretty girls tho XD"
part of it is historical racism, part of it is some things that are less preferable, like height, lack of facial hair, and asian culture not being as outgoing. I will say that a lot of it is also just feminism and hypergamy, especially with online dating. It used to be mainly just Asian guys feeling the awfulness of Tinder and Bumble, etc. Now nearly every guy of every race is feeling it. I will say as an Asian man that was an adult in the late 90s and 2000s, (peak asian emasculation), things have come a long way. Also I've been with a lot of women by now from all over the world. Your attitude is most important for real life, whereas looks is most important for online. Just focus on being skilled, confident, and proud of what you make yourself. I'm average height, naturally very skinny, and have plenty of shortcomings in looks, but I've had hot girlfriends of various races, and even a wife. Most of my exes even met me when I was out of work and poor. But I work hard on my goals, have many skills, and genuinely care about others.
As an asian guy I don’t care if some asian girls doesn’t want to date there own race. If your rizz game is so good they will make you the exception! Plus there lots of hot non asian girls who want to date asian guys! There just waiting for us to approach them!

As mildly successful Asian dude who's never have problem dating girls of any race, I typically don't date these types of girls due to my conservative upbringing. They're the motel hookup types that you generally hit a few times until you hookup with the conservative Asian girl.

Andrew is 💯% correct. As an Asian woman in her 30s who actually loves Asian men and have only dated Asian men, NO Asian man has ever been brave enough to approach me unless it’s at some all-Asian event even then it’s still rare. I get hit on and approached by black men the most then Hispanics the whites. Asian men just aren’t as brave or aggressive as men of other races and they’re losing out.

Ouch, I missed out on so many great opportunities. The Asian guy shyness phenomenon is a painful affliction to have. Asian girls who were my type would literally come over to my table and sit in front of me (back turned hoping that I would tap them on the shoulder and chat with them) or walk back and forth in front of me (again I was expected to come up with something clever to say to start a conversation) and I still didn't have the guts to say one word. From your perspective as an Asian girl, just know that often the Asian guy who seemingly is ignoring you might actually like you but is shy. What seems to work from an Asian female perspective if you happen to see a shy Asian male that you like is to make up an excuse for you and the Asian male to have some alone time (e.g. Want to carpool to the next event. I love to do activity X, want to do X together?). This is the best way to approach shy Asian guy. If you directly ask shy Asian guy on a date, his shyness might make him react funny even if he likes you. Try the carpool and "friend" activity techniques first.

Idk what their talking about when they say this isnt a gen z thing. Older gen z here and i can confirm that all the positive representation for asian men is very recent. For most of my upbringing esp high school through college, being outright racist to asian men was pretty normalized, esp in the dating scene. Also i didnt like the subtle anti-mixed racism with the whole "its ok if the mixed girl doesnt like us" rhetoric. Mixed asians are part of the community too and we also should have pride in our culture.
I use to know a mixed Korean girl and she would never admit she's half because her Korean mother taught her how all Korean men were bad and no good. She only started to admit or hint at accepting that she's half Asian when we hung around in the same circle and all the white friends accepted me and had positive things to say about my Asianess. Representation and role model matters.

I got into martial arts and weight training when I was 13 and have been doing so till now I am 45! Iv had both Chinese and white girlfriends! Yes I would consider myself more masculine than the average Asian.Iv never had trouble with dates so I think maybe the masculine frame is a major factor!
