It is truly heartening to hear an experienced and respected soldier demonstrating integrity in abundance by speaking up about the shameful abandonment of Afghans who actively provided support for Australian forces during active service.

We are all shamed by this truly unconscionable behavior of #MorrisonGovernment. If that is not demoralizing for Australian army to stand and watch how their mates are being left behind to die, I don't know what worse can be. Our government has blood on their hands. I feel a terrible sorrow for Stuart McCarthy's torment & incredible decision today. He stands up in protest while our nation's dignity is being destroyed.

Another fine display of leadership and resolve by this esteemable man.
Stuart cofounded the International Mefloquine Veterans Alliance to fight for all who were poisoned with an antimalarial drug called Mefloquine (Lariam) or Tafenoquine.
This occurred either during shoddy drug trials or the mission in Afghanistan.
Australia isn't just abandoning the Afghans...they are abandoning those who served and exist today with cognitive disabilities or neurological disorders via the long term effects of Quinoline toxicity.
Ask Stuart for more info about this as well.

Very well said. This is a totally morally bankrupt government with blood on their hands.

And they want Afghanistan Veterans day. No thanks ! More of a day of shame. Don't need a yearly reminder of the token effort. Esp from the egos of the starch shirt brigade and a bunch of suits. And the chest beaters who never went out side the wire.

Always the same goddamned story: the soldier serves with integrity while the politicians are revealed as cynical, duplicitous knaves. Poet and war hero Siegfried Sassoon threw his own medal - or the ribbon - in the Mersey, such was his disgust with the top brass in WW1. You are in good company sir.
