I’ve work at hospital for almost 4 decades. Plenty of folks come in just to eat. They finally set up a separate cafeteria for employees since we had trouble getting thru the line in just a 1/2 hour.

Yes and if it was somehow wrong to eat the hospital food if you aren’t a patient then they working serve it to you unless you had a bracelet or you were an employee. It’s not like they don’t have the power to prevent it!

The sister is so mad that OP is living peacefully, god forbid a dude finds peace in hospital food (which is surprisingly good)

If the hospital doesnt have a problem with OP eating there then the sister should shut up. The fact she went so far about this is insane and shows she truly is a brat

If the hospital food service doesn't make enough money from counter sales, it often goes away. people stopping by just to have lunch is a good thing, because it keeps that service up and running for the families of patients. Who in their right and unspoiled mind would be mad about supporting a much needed service?

As someone who is also on the spectrum, the peace and quiet of a hospital cafeteria sounds nice.
I feel overwhelmed if there is too much noise, and I can only be at restaurants at night since it's quiet at that time.
If hospitals open it for non injured folk, then it's not a problem.

Story 1: As long as OP is paying for his food, there's nothing wrong with this. His sister & their parents need to mind their own business. 😤

You can eat at any hospital, if you pay for your food. Also, one hospital around me has the absolute best food, it’s like a food court with local restaurant business, Italian, Chinese, sushi, Indian, American you name it and I always make my doctor appointments for lunch time, so I can get food 😂 also, where are visitors supposed to eat?

As someone who is chronically ill and goes to the hospital often, I can’t believe I never thought about eating there or even getting a drink when I really needed one. I’m checking out the cafeteria at my next appointment. Maybe I’ll become a regular

Idk if this is just my experience making me bias or if its reality, but in general it seems like siblings of people with seemingly mild disabilities are a lot more likely to bully them because they consider their behaviors weird and its easy to get their friends on their side compared to if the sibling was more severely impacted by their symptoms.

I feel like if the cafeteria WASN’T open to the public eating from it, there’d be something to prevent cases like OP’s from happening.

As someone from the spectrum, the silence? It's worth the fuss for it, and close to work? Absolute perfect you deserve and need to keep eating that when you do, and your NTA and your sis sounds like a golden child, a very golden child

Doesn't matter if you go once or 14 times a week. If you pay, you're good. The cafeteria is a business for profit and will welcome all business.
The sister is so dumb confusing a cafeteria with the special food prep for patients.

    • @edgechan

This. One thing is the cafeteria made even for people who visit their relatives or even outsiders, other is taking the food from the hospital kitchen for patients. Sister is dumber than a sack of rocks.

My sister is an ER nurse and actually encouraged me to eat the hospital food when she had her baby (yes in the same hospital she works at) her and her colleagues had no issues with it.

Bro, the way I keep my green wrist band from the kids hospital my niece was in so I can go in to the cafeteria and buy food. (IT'S LITERALLY SO GOOD) There's no issue, it's not stealing from the patients or kids.

Here's the thing. I've been on both sides of the fence here. I've been a patient at the hospital and I've eaten the food. The patients have a completely different food source than the purchased food. The hospital that I go to in town has two types of food service. One is an outsourced food service that has a little nook sell sandwiches and food and stuff like that and then they have an upstairs where the hospital actually prepares food and it's cheaper.... I was told by somebody at the hospital to go there to buy my lunch.... Because it's cheaper and better....
I used to go to the hospital to get blood work done so I decided to make a day of it and have lunch and I was told to buy from the cafeteria on the 2nd floor. Due to it having better quality of food and it actually giving money back to the hospital.....
Best sister just sounds like a spoiled ignorant brat....

    • @altoidsours
      @altoidsours Месяц назад

That's not always true. I worked in a hospital cafeteria and at my hospital, the stuff the staff/customers purchased and the patient food were both the same. Now the patients had more choices on their menu, like salmon, but if a staff member was in the know and ordered salmon they could get it lol. But the hospital I worked for was tiny, only had 10 rooms, so that might be why.

No, that's so stupid, it's bringing funding into the hospital. Also aren't most cafeterias in hospitals contracted out anyway with the hospital just renting the space to caterers who agree to meet food requirements?

It's absolutely absurd to say that no one but patients should eat at a hospital restaurant/cafeteria. My mother worked as a nurse for most of her professional life and she was always saying that we should go eat at the hospital restaurant. The hospitals want people to come eat there because all profits go into making the hospitals better for the staff and the patients. Bears mentioning that this was in a European country where hospitals are tax funded and not privately owned/for-profit, so the profits from the hospital restaurant didn't end up in the pockets of filthy rich owners but instead went into making the hospitals better for the patients and staff.

this is a crazy take ngl. i work in a research lab under a hospital, and we go and get food from our hospital AND a nearby childrens hospital all the time. im not sure why it was even an issue, patients foods are FREE and prepared SEPARATELY. this is paid food for visitors and with vendors paying rent to stay.

I can understand where you're coming from, and it sounds like you're just trying to make the most of your day by grabbing a quick bite. While it might seem a bit unusual to some, it's important to remember that public spaces like hospital cafeterias are there for everyone, whether you're a patient, a visitor, or just someone in the area. As long as you're being respectful of the space and others, I don't think there's anything wrong with enjoying a meal there every now and then. It’s always good to keep in mind how your actions might affect others, but it's also okay to do what makes you comfortable, as long as you're not disrupting the environment. 🙂

Aren’t the hospital cafeterias for visitors and staff anyways? I thought patients get their meals brought to them rather than going to the cafeteria

  • @deusex4905

Just at the beginning of the video and I'm already rolling my eyes. My god, I see no problem with eating at the hospital cafeteria. Je employees doesn't seem to mind, there is any signe saying "outsider not allowed!!". I didn't even know that it was reserved for patients, I thought it was for family because in my country (at least) they brought you the meal into your room.
And the sister going to the parents? What are you, five? Bruh. That's way sometimes it's better to lie (do not take my advice)
