The right way is to pull it out with the converter for that I had to remove the entire bumper radiator, fans and condenser then I got access to the intake manifold in order to get to the starter then you’ll have access to the torque converter bolts I rather do it that way than dropping the entire drivetrain lol
I’ll keep that in mind lol, when I reinstalled it I dropped the oil pan to get access to the torque converter bolts. It was my first time doing this transmission
Does the replacement needs any programming in order to work properly? Injust replace my transmission on my 2016 Ford Edge SEL (Same exact model) 2.0l Turbo The reverse, nice and smooth, but on Drive has a slower pace. Any advise?
I have a 2014 fusion hybrid se I installed a used tranny from a 2013 cmax hybrid it worked without any programming 2 things to check when buying a used tranny 1) check the vin on ford website from the donar car make sure there is no recall on the tranny for that vehicle cuz some model are known to be problematic. 2) There is a part number on the trannys call the dealership and check if both tranny numbers are interchangable. Good luck!
@@russellvinson1386 when I did the trans on a 2013 Fusion I just lowered the whole subframe. Made it way easier on the 2.5 I think ford was lying in their manuals?
Dang that looked painful!! I did it the same way except I pulled the oil pan off and removed the lower sub frame without the power steering rack. You are very tenacious!! Yea fords suck for that!
Yea I should have removed the sub frame from the beginning but I read some forms where they took out the transmission without removing the the sub frame. But as you can see I had to remove the sub frame with the power steering still attached to the sub frame lol
I looked it over before I did mine and it sure looked like it would go. It took me awhile to figure out that dang flex plate torque converter bolts also!! Oh well live and learn. Take care have a great day!
I was able to do one without removing the cradle completely. Reasoning being that customer didn't want to pay for alignment because of rack removal. Needles to say next time, I'm going to quote all that in my pricing. I am def removing the complete cradle. F that!!
I couldn’t get my transmission out because of the cradle. If I knew earlier I would’ve dropped the sub frame and oil pan to get to the torque converter bolts
@@eze1987ful the torque converter bolts can be accessed by removing the stater. The. Of course take a 15mm (iirc) and a medium sized ratchet and break them loose there.
@@eze1987ful did you remove the plastic spacer that they have between the starter and motor/transmission? If you don't remove that, then yes, there's no access to the torque converter nuts.
Supposed to pull the sub frame all the way out before you start pulling the transmission.
Thanks for posting the video
How many hour of labor would you charge with the cradle removed? Thanks
I’m about to remove one of this
Thanks again
I honestly don’t have a price because I’m a used car dealer and I normally do stuff like this for myself
Can you show where the input and output speed sensors are on the transmission?

Any idea where I can get more info on this method ?
Dude just broke his steering rack in the process lol
What other transmission from what car i can install in .my 2014 2.5
If you replace the transmission with a used one do you have to reprogram it?
No
What an absolute nightmare… I need to replace my rear main seal… what’s the average costs to do so?
Honestly I have no idea probably around $700

You might have a bad transmission pump, honestly have a shop do a diagnostic and see what they say

why does the ford manual say the trans comes out with out subframe removal?
It will just have to drop the radiator side a bit. Looks like the torque converter was stuck to the flywheel on this video

Good
How long did this job take?
I took my time so probably about 6hrs
Is it worth changing transmission after 300k KMS
It wouldn’t hurt, just do a drain and fill 3x and you should be fine
Talk about the ultimate backfire. So stubborn. Do the job the right way if ur gonna post videos dude smh.

Why? This is an abnormally easy fwd transmission to remove
