I just watched a video about how loud it is there: music blasting in the park, loud Zoomba classes in the park, loud motor bikes, cars, airplanes flying over, loud buses, roosters, barking dogs, car alarms constantly going off at night, etc. So, since you say it's quiet, I'm so confused about booking a stay there. I like quiet.

My dad is from Cuenca, I haven’t been there in about 19 years. It looks nice and modern now. I do miss the bus rides through the mountains to Quayaquil, thinking today could be the day we fall off the road and die. Good times.

I love Cuenca, although the minivan ride there was like being on a winding roller coaster, we took the bus back, and it was much better! They have a cool Jazz Society place there, did you go? The double decker bus tour is awesome too. It's a beautiful city, GREAT weather, know wonder why there's so many ex-pats there. Safe Travels! From FL, USA!

I am from Cuenca( living in Stockholm since 1996) and surely things changed over there, but to have a very deep cultural picture of its people, highly recommend to go the traditional religious celebrations in small villages( country side) The food they prepare is nothing to do with the food sold out in the market. It can be different from village to village but the idea of celebration has the same essence in the hole Hispanic world. Actually if you are in Spain in some small village you are about to see the same celebration and religious traditions. Actually, I remember my relatives to work very hard, the hole year in order to make a best celebration. To do their celebration ( compared to others) “historical “ 😄 The only problem for foreigners is may to get introduced by some one local. Any way, hope you the best in Cuenca and living there

We lived in Cuenca for several months while our papers were processed about 11 years ago. We moved 2 hours south (Yunguilla) for more warmth. Have not been to Cuenca in 5 years.

Very nice to see a bit of a "younger" take on Cuenca! Did you find many expats living there that were under 65? I am curious about that - it seems to be almost entirely post 65 retirees, and no really digital nomads and such.

I'd be willing to be some of the first. There is definitely a younger Ecuadorian crowd to hang with too. I think it has incredible potential as a Digital Nomad hub.
There are more and more digital nomads and families moving to Cuenca. There are a handful of coworking spaces as well. I’m far from retirement age and you’ll find me there 🙂
What a beautiful city !! I love the architecture of those buildings & churches !! Butchers with pig's heads / whole bodies are sad & grotesque to me !! But ,the people are very friendly & the energy is very nice !! I love love the river is running through in the middle of the city !! 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞

It is sometimes difficult, even with websites like numbeo, to figure out which countries and cities are actually cheaper. We will arrive in Matagalpa, Nicaragua in 5 days to start our early retirement. We have family all over Nicaragua and they guess our bills will run $1200-$1300/month. Rental house, walk/no car, Vegan so no meat, Nica wife so no gringo pricing. But, we will only be there for a year or two. When our senior dogs pass away we want to travel around Mexico, Antigua and Lake Atitlan, Guatemala, Manizales, Colombia, Cuenca, Ecuador, Arequipa, Peru, Buenas Aires n Bariloche Argentina. We THINK prices are fairly similar in all these cities ??? Se also May bounce around SE Asia next. By then we should know where we want to put down roots. Where would you suggest your parents retire ??? Thx !

In March, I'm going back to Cuenca after a year because I loved it there so much. Will stay 3 months this time... When in Segovia, España, I stayed next to some cloistered nuns. I vaped & blew some Sevilla Tumba at them & got them high! They were initially quiet, later they were smiling, giggling, & a nun announced she was hungry & off they went. I enjoy doing "good deeds". Where's that cloistered abby?
OMG as a Vegan I could not stand seeing those animal carcasses getting roasted in front of my eyes...... would have to avoid those places at all costs when visiting

We watch via a Roku device, and can't use the "auto translate" function native to a P/C. Would you please be kind enough to add the Spanish subtitle option? From what I understand from Ayngelina (a South American Vlogger), there's an option where a Channel Creator can give RUclips permission to "auto determine" what it thinks you're saying in English. There will of course be a few very minor errors, however once this is allowed, you can then pick the languages you'd like RUclips to offer as subtitles. Latin American Spanish is our biggest interest. If you modify the configurations of your videos, there's an option where you can give RUclips (YT) permission to auto-generate English subtitles. Then, you can decide which languages you'd like to feature. 2) Yes, when using a p/c the YT autotranslate works great, however in our group environment, we watch on a big screen via a Roku. The YT App interface is limited, so unless the channel sets it up on there end, we can't display alternate languages Thanks for your consideration.

I'm 63 and I know people here who are younger (although not many). A new residency visa was created this year that is targeted for digital nomads.

When in Segovia, España, I stayed next to some cloistered nuns. I vaped & blew some Sevilla Tumba at them & got them high! They were initially quiet, later they were smiling, giggling, & a nun announced she was hungry & off they went. I enjoy doing "good deeds". Where's that cloistered abby?

I'd like to put videos from your channel on our big screen "playlist", and share with our multi-lingual family. We watch via a Roku device, and can't use the "auto translate" function native to a P/C. Would you please be kind enough to add the Spanish subtitle option? From what I understand from Ayngelina (a South American Vlogger), there's an option where a Channel Creator can give RUclips permission to "auto determine" what it thinks you're saying in English. There will of course be a few very minor errors, however once this is allowed, you can then pick the languages you'd like RUclips to offer as subtitles. Hey Pedro! I appreciate you watching. RUclips provides an auto-translate function on every video and it is available on my channel. I cannot write out spanish subtitles myself as it would be too time-consuming.

1) It would be way too time consuming to write this out yourself. We'd never ask this. If you modify the configurations of your videos, there's an option where you can give RUclips (YT) permission to auto-generate English subtitles. Then, you can decide which languages you'd like to feature.
2) Yes, when using a p/c the YT autotranslate works great, however in our group environment, we watch on a big screen via a Roku. The YT App interface is limited, so unless the channel sets it up on there end, we can't display alternate languages Thanks for your consideration.
